                <text>The use of technological resources increasingly assists agricultural production, but it is not yet an accessible reality for the small producer. The present paper aims to automate the processes that are still manual, focusing on increasing the production success rate through a simple and effective system that aims to increase productivity and reduce waste. The methodology used consists of bibliographic research on the subject and prototype creation with reduced implementation cost that uses Arduino, sensors and actuators for automation. By reading the data collected by the sensors, measures will be taken to intervene in the internal parameters, such as irrigation, artificial lighting or nutrient injection, in order to maintain the ideal environment for the best plant development. Producers will also have greater control over of cultivation, as reports obtained through the collection of extracted data will be presented to assist them in making decisions.</text>

                <text>The yellow passion fruit is a climacteric fruit that presents high perishability when stored at room temperature. Thus, the objective of this study was to evaluate the effects of cassava peanut starch coating on postharvest conservation of yellow passion fruit stored at room temperature. The cassava inner bark starch was extracted by decanting and drying. The starch was used in the preparation of the edible coating, through the gelatinization of the starch. The experiment was set in a completely randomized design (DIC), with a 4 x 3 factorial scheme, with three treatments (control, no coating; and starch in the concentrations 1, 2 and 3%) and three sampling times (0, 7 and 10 days). Physical analysis (peel color, weight loss and juice yield) and chemical analyzes (soluble solids, pH, titratable acidity and SS AT-1 ratio) were performed during this period. The results demonstrated that the treatments were effective in maintaining the visual appearance of the fruits and reducing the mass loss during the ten days of storage. All treatments were efficient during the storage period for SS maintenance, while only only the treatments with 2 and 3% starchmaintained the pH. The tested coatings were not effective in preserving the acidity of the fruits and the SS AT-1 ratio increased from the 7th day of conservation. The coating with 3% of starch presented the best results for all evaluated parameters.</text>

                <text>As cultivares de milho com proteína de alto valor biológico (QPM), lançadas pela EMBRAPA, podem-se constituir em boa alternativa para a agricultura familiar brasileira. No trópico úmido seu desempenho dever ser confirmado nas condições prevalentes entre os agricultores. Diante disso, foi instalado, em janeiro de 1999, em Argissolo Vermelho-Amarelo Distrófico arênico e sob sistema de cultivo em aléias, um experimento em blocos ao acaso, com parcelas de 4 x 6 m² e quatro repetições, para avaliar o crescimento e a produtividade de duas cultivares de milho de alto valor protéico (BR 473 e BR 2121), em comparação com outras três utilizadas na agricultura maranhense: Ferro (cultivar tradicional, recolhida junto aos agricultores), BR 106 e AG 1051 (de baixo e médio nível tecnológico respectivamente). Foram avaliados o índice de área foliar, a taxa de assimilação líquida, o número de espigas, grãos por espiga, massa da espiga e de 100 grãos e o índice de colheita. Concluiu-se que a cultivar BR 473 pode ser recomendada para condições de solos ácidos de baixa fertilidade e para temperaturas altas, exceto BR 2121. A cultivar AG 1051 apresentou produtividade muito superior em relação às demais cultivares. O uso generalizado da cultivar Ferro pela agricultura familiar só se justifica pela possibilidade de armazenamento na lavoura, que consiste em deixar o milho no campo, vários meses após a maturação, pela sua alta resistência às pragas de pós-colheita; ademais sua produtividade foi menor que todas as outras cultivares testadas.</text>

                <text>A sustainable management of soils with low natural fertility on family farms in the humid tropics is a great challenge and overcoming it would be an enormous benefit for the environment and the farmers. The objective of this study was to assess the environmental and agronomic benefits of alley cropping, based on the evaluation of C sequestration, soil quality indicators, and corn yields. Combinations of four legumes were used in alley cropping systems in the following treatments: Clitoria fairchildiana + Cajanus cajan; Acacia mangium + Cajanus cajan; Leucaena leucocephala + Cajanus cajan; Clitoria fairchildiana + Leucaena leucocephala; Leucaena leucocephala + Acacia mangium and a control. Corn was used as a cash crop. The C content was determined in the different compartments of soil organic matter, CEC, available P, base saturation, percentage of water saturation, the period of the root hospitality factor below the critical level and corn yield. It was concluded that alley cropping could substitute the slash and burn system in the humid tropics. The main environmental benefit of alley cropping is the maintenance of a dynamic equilibrium between C input and output that could sustain up to 10 Mg ha-1 of C in the litter layer, decreasing atmospheric CO2 levels. Alley cropping is also beneficial from the agricultural point of view, because it increases base saturation and decreases physical resistance to root penetration in the soil layer 0 - 10 cm, which ensures the increase and sustainability of corn yield.O manejo sustentável dos solos de baixa fertilidade natural na agricultura familiar do trópico tem sido um grande desafio, que, se vencido, resultará em vantagens para o ambiente e para os agricultores. Este trabalho foi realizado com o objetivo de avaliar os benefícios ambiental e agronômico de um cultivo em aleias, por meio da determinação do C sequestrado, dos indicadores da qualidade do solo e da produtividade da cultura do milho. Foram utilizadas combinações de quatro leguminosas, formando os tratamentos: Clitoria fairchildiana + Cajanus cajan; Acacia mangium + Cajanus cajan; Leucaena leucocephala + Cajanus cajan; Clitoria fairchildiana + Leucaena leucocephala; Leucaena leucocephala + Acacia mangium; e testemunha. O milho foi utilizado como cultura econômica. Foram determinados o teor de C nos vários compartimentos da matéria orgânica do solo, a CTC, o P disponível, a saturação por bases, a percentagem de saturação por água, o período do fator hospitalidade da raiz abaixo do nível critico e a produtividade da cultura do milho. Conclui-se que o cultivo em aleias pode substituir o corte e a queima no trópico úmido com vantagens ambientais, diminuindo a quantidade de CO2 atmosférico por meio da manutenção de um equilíbrio dinâmico entre entrada e saída de C, que pode sustentar até 10 Mg ha-1 desse elemento na liteira. Do ponto de vista agronômico, os benefícios do cultivo em aleias foram o aumento da saturação por bases e a diminuição da resistência física à penetração das raízes na camada de 0 a 10 cm, o que propiciou o aumento e a sustentação da produtividade da cultura do milho.</text>

                <text>A azadiractina consiste no óleo obtido a partir de sementes secas de Azadirachta indica A. Juss. (Família: Meliaceae). Trata-se de um biopesticida para controle de pragas na agricultura e, portanto, um agente 'eco-amigável' para a agricultura orgânica. Contudo, os resíduos dos pesticidas, incluindo os biopesticidas, podem causar efeitos deletérios a organismos que não são o seu alvo. Assim, o presente trabalho pretende investigar o efeito genotóxico da azadiractina no meio aquoso em amostras de peixes conhecidos como Paulistinha ou Zebra-fish (Danio rerio - Hamilton 1822). As concentrações da azadiractina de 8, 16 e 32 vezes as taxas mais baixas de produtos comerciais formulados foram testadas durante 7 dias. Os efeitos de genotoxicidade foram avaliados através de Ensaio Cometa obtendo Frequência de Dano (FD) e Índice de Dano (ID) utilizando eritrócitos do D. rerio. A Análise de Sobrevivência avaliou a taxa de mortalidade em exemplares remanescentes do EC. Os resultados sugerem um aumento significativo de FD e ID em relação ao controle negativo (D. rerio não expostos), mesmo após 7 dias de exposição. Além disso, todos os espécimes expostos morreram dentro de uma semana após o final do EC. A utilização do biopesticida azadiractina deve ser realizada com precaução para não aumentar a contaminação ambiental, especialmente nos ecossistemas aquáticos.</text>

                <text>A mandioca é uma das mais promissoras culturas, na agricultura familiar, contribuindo no desenvolvimento social e econômico do Brasil. Apesar disso, tradicionalmente a cultura é conduzida com baixo investimento financeiro, geralmente, não havendo aplicação de corretivos e fertilizantes em doses adequadas. O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar o efeito de diferentes doses de adubação fosfatada e a adubação de cobertura na produtividade da mandioca (IAC 12). O experimento foi desenvolvido em parcela subdividida com 3 repetições. Avaliaram-se quatro doses de fósforo (0; 40; 80; 160kg de P2O5/ha) e a adubação de cobertura (0 e 250kg/ha de 20-00-20). A colheita foi realizada 10 meses após o plantio e foi determinada a produtividade (kg/planta). Foi realizada análise de variância e teste de Scott-Knott para comparação de médias. Verificou-se que houve resposta crescente à adubação fosfatada; a produtividade foi maior para a dose de 160kg de P2O5/ha, que é o dobro da dose máxima recomendada pela CFSEMG, demostrando que embora rústica, a planta é responsiva a adubação fosfatada. Com relação à adubação de cobertura, não houve diferença significativa entre os tratamentos. Concluísse que a cultivar de mandioca IAC 12 é responsiva a fósforo, havendo necessidade de estudos com maiores doses.</text>

                <text>Objective: This study aims to evaluate students' knowledge and attitudes about COVID-19 and its precautionary measures. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted among dental students in their clinical practice years in two Palestinian universities. An online questionnaire was sent out using students' in mid-May, 2020. The questionnaire assessed students self-reported knowledge about the COVID-19, and students' attitudes towards providing clinical care during the pandemic. Results: A total of 305 dental students completed the questionnaire. Fifty-nine percent (n = 180) reported having updated training on infection control measures in dental settings and 29% (n = 89) reported having attended a training course regarding COVID-19. Eighty-two percent of students (n = 250) preferred to avoid working with suspected COVID-19 patients. Almost 89% (n = 269) admitted fear of transmitting the virus to their families. This fear was related to their perception that using regular standard precautions is unsafe in dealing with COVID-19 patients and their perception of their schools' preparedness to update infection prevention measures (χ2 = 50.45, p &lt; 0.001) (χ2 = 9.77, p = 0.021). Conclusion: Students in this sample are aware of COVID-19 and its precautionary measures. Adherence to new, stricter infection control protocols and periodic orientation of students to these protocols are ways to guarantee a safer environment for both patients and students.</text>
