O parasitóide Aphidius colemani Viereck, 1912 apresenta alta mortalidade em temperaturas constantes superiores a 25°C. Provavelmente esta é a causa do insucesso no controle biológico de Aphis gossypii Glover, 1877 com o uso de A. colemani em temperaturas elevadas em casas de vegetação. Este trabalho teve como objetivo avaliar a resposta a diferentes temperaturas de indivíduos de A. colemani, originários de diferentes regiões climáticas do estado de Minas Gerais. Indivíduos de A. colemani foram coletados nos municípios de Juramento, Lavras e São Gotardo, e criados em laboratório por três gerações em A. gossypii em plantas de pepino, em sala climatizada (22±2°C, 70±10 UR e 12h de fotofase). Uma fêmea de A. colemani, acasalada e com 24-48h de vida, foi liberada por um período de uma hora em uma placa de Petri (15 cm) contendo 20 ninfas de 2° ínstar de A. gossypii em um disco foliar de pepino (4 cm de diâmetro) sobre uma solução ágar/água a 1%. Os pulgões parasitados foram mantidos em câmaras climáticas nas temperaturas de 16, 19, 22, 25 e 28±1ºC, com UR de 70±10% e fotofase de 12h. Nas temperaturas de 16 e 28°C, a emergência dos parasitóides originários de Juramento (65,9 e 35,4%) e São Gotardo (71,4 e 47,6%) foi significativamente inferior àquelas encontradas para os de Lavras (87,1 e 80,9%). A temperatura mais adequada para o desenvolvimento de indivíduos de A. colemani oriundos de Lavras foi mais alta do que para aqueles oriundos de Juramento e São Gotardo. Indivíduos de Lavras apresentaram alta emergência a 28°C, demonstrando a existência de indivíduos de A. colemani com tolerância a temperaturas mais altas. Esses resultados abrem novas perspectivas quanto a possibilidades de utilização de diferentes biótipos de A. colemani no controle biológico de A. gossypii em cultivos protegidos.The parasitoid Aphidius colemani Viereck, 1912 presents higher mortality at constant temperatures above 25°C, and probably it is the cause of the failure on the biological control of Aphis gossypii Glover, 1877 when this parasitoid is used at higher temperatures in greenhouses. The aim of this work was to evaluate the influence of different temperatures on individuals of A. colemani from different climatic regions of Minas Gerais state, Brazil. Individuals of A. colemani were collected in the localities of Juramento, Lavras and São Gotardo, and reared in laboratory (22±2°C, 70±10% RH and 12h photophase) for three generations in the host A. gossypii, on cucumber plants. One mated female of A. colemani, 24-48 h old, was released for one hour, in a Petri dish (15cm) with 20 nymphs of 2nd instar of A. gossypii on a leaf disk of cucumber (4 cm of diameter) laid on a layer of agar-water (1%). The parasitized aphids were kept at 16, 19, 22, 25 and 28±1°C, 70±10% RH and 12h photophase. The emergence rates of individuals from Juramento (65.9 and 35.4%) and São Gotardo (71.4 and 47.6%) were lower compared to those from Lavras (87.1 and 80.9%) at 16 and 28°C. The more suitable temperature for the development of A. colemani from Lavras was higher than those for individuals from Juramento and São Gotardo. The individuals from Lavras showed highest emergence at 28°C, and this demonstrated the existence of individuals of A. colemani with tolerance to higher temperatures. These results open news perspectives on the use of different strains of A. colemani on biological control of A. gossypii in protected cultivation.

El objetivo de esta investigación es desarrollar un índice de pérdidas y desperdicios de alimentos e investigar el grado de compromiso de las empresas mexicanas para disminuir los desechos de alimentos. El índice muestra que al menos 35.3% de los alimentos se pierden o desperdician anualmente en México, un país con más de 19 millones de personas en condiciones de pobreza e inseguridad alimentaria. Se aplicó una encuesta a 3 grupos de empresarios, los resultados muestran que 23% de las grandes empresas mexicanas desarrolla cotidianamente actividades contra el desperdicio de alimentos, pero 79% de las medianas empresas y 96% de las pequeñas y micro empresas no tienen ningún plan ni realizan actividades cotidianas contra las pérdidas y desperdicios de alimentos. Proponemos la tarea de reducir desechos de alimentos como una gran área de oportunidad para la Responsabilidad Social Corporativa en México.

Se presentan los resultados de la medición de la corrosión metálica de: acero, acero galvanizado, cobre y aluminio en el caso de la corrosión en ambientes exteriores, y de acero, estaño y cobre en ambientes interiores. Las estaciones de ensayo se ubican en las ciudades de Quito y Esmeraldas, los ensayos se realizaron utilizando las normas ISO y ASTM. Los resultados muestran que los niveles de corrosividad son más altos en la ciudad de Esmeraldas (particularmente para la corrosión en ambientes interiores) debido a la presencia de fuentes de contaminación atmosférica, como son la refinería y la termoeléctrica situadas en esa zona, la influencia marina resulta poco significativa debido a la distancia y ubicación de la estación de ensayo en la ciudad de Esmeraldas. This work reports the assessments of corrosion measurement on steel, galvanized steel, copper and aluminum in the case of outdoor atmospheric corrosion, and steel, tin and copper indoor atmospheric corrosion. The test stations are located in the cities of Quito and Esmeraldas. Additionally, assays were performed using ISO and ASTM standards. Main results show that corrosivity levels are higher in Esmeraldas (particularly indoors corrosion) due to the presence of pollution sources such as refinery and the thermoelectric stations located in that area. Furthermore, in Esmeraldas the influence of the sea is not significant due to the distance and location of the test stations.

Introducción:El medio ambiente propiciador del surgimiento y conservación de la especie humana, está amenazado por factores de diversa naturaleza, con mayor peso los de tipo antropogénico. Paradójicamente, el ser humano con su actividad económica-social constituye una amenaza a la conservación saludable del medio ambiente y su propia salud.Objetivo:describir la repercusión del cambio climático en la salud psicológica de las personas.Métodos:se realizó una revisión bibliográfica de tipo exploratoria en el periodo de julio a agosto del 2020. Para ello se revisaron 32 bibliografías provenientes de las bases de datos Scielo, Pudmed y Medline, , disponibles en la Biblioteca Virtual de Salud y en el sitio web de la Organización Panamericana para la Salud y la Organización Mundial de la Salud, se hizo análisis y síntesis de los datos más relevantes, exponiendo además cirterios del autor según su experiencia de trabajo en desastres naturales.Resultados:se obtuvo que el cambio climático genera eventos que atentan directa o indirectamente sobre la salud humana, se identificó como la causa fundamental de este problema la actividad humana que provocan la contaminación del medio ambiente, generando desastres naturales, olas de calor, sequías prolongadas, lluvias, inundaciones y migraciones como fenómeno asociado; causando ansiedad, depresión, estrés y otros daños psicológicos. Conclusiones: se concluye que el cambio climático incide sobre la salud psicológica humana y por ello se precisan medidas inmediatas para su mitigación.

Las llanuras del centro de España muestran un gran interés paleoclimático. Se sitúan en torno a los 40° de latitud Norte y entre 450-650 metros de altitud. Durante el Pleistoceno, sus condiciones sedimentarias se han desarrollado bajo climas mediterráneos, degradados o separados por pequeños hiatos. En estas llanuras, el loess es una de las acumulaciones superficiales más adecuadas para la reconstrucción de ambientes pasados y para la determinación de cambios climáticos. Se han analizado, para el presente estudio, más de un centenar de muestras en estos depósitos eólicos, en el que la determinación de las propiedades físicas se ha llevado a cabo por medio de análisis mecánicos. La edad del loess ha sido obtenida por termoluminiscencia y se puede asociar a las fases isotópicas del oxígeno (OIS) 3 y 2 (período Würm y tardiglaciar). Los loess están correlacionados con otras formaciones frías de estos ambientes y, entre ellas, con los depósitos estratificados sobre las laderas en relación con intensos fríos y bruscos cambios térmicos y estacionales.

Objetivos: Caracterizar el consumo de alimentos en las familias desplazadas del municipio de Lebrija y describir la percepción que tienen con respecto a la inseguridad alimentaria.Metodología: Durante 2004-2005, 61 familias desplazadas del municipio de Lebrija contestaron una encuesta para determinar el gasto mensual en alimentos y la frecuencia de compra. Se utilizó un recordatorio del consumo de alimentos en las últimas 24 horas. Para determinar la cantidad y tipo de alimentos consumidos se aplicó una encuesta sobre la percepción de la seguridad alimentaria. El proceso de los datos se realizó con SICI, Epi Info 6,04d y Stata STATA/SE v. 8,2. Resultados: El ingreso promedio mensual de los hogares es de 0.67 SMMLV, en el 83,6% de las familias sólo trabaja un miembro. El 88,0% de las familias presenta inseguridad alimentaría leve y el 12,0% moderada. El 100% de las familias argumentó falta de dinero para comprar alimentos. El consumo de frutas y lácteos sólo cubre el 25,0% de las recomendaciones establecidas y el de verduras un 15,0%. Conclusiones: Las familias de este estudio muestran una proporción de Inseguridad Alimentaria mucho mayor a los estudios nacionales, esto es evidenciado en la deficiente calidad de la dieta consecuente con el bajo ingreso y el desconocimiento de alternativas nutricionales. Salud UIS 2010; 42: 18-24Objectives: To characterize the intake of foods in the displaced families of the municipality of Lebrija and to describe the perception that they have regarding the food insecurity. Methodology: During 2004-2005, 61 displaced families of the municipality of Lebrija answered a survey to determine the monthly expense in foods and the purchase frequency. A recall of the consumption of foods in the last 24 hours was used. To determine the quantity and type of consumed foods was applied a survey about the perception of the food security. The process of the data was carried out with SICI, Epi Info 6.04d and STATA/SE v. 8.2. Results: The entrance monthly average of the homes is of 0.67 SMMLV, in 83.6% of the families a member only works. 88.0% of the families presents insecurity it would feed light and 12.0% moderate. 100% of the families argued lack of money to buy foods. The consumption of fruits and milky it only covers 25.0% of the established recommendations and that of vegetables 15.0%. Conclusions: The families of this study show a proportion of foods insecurity much bigger to the national studies, this is evidenced in the faulty quality of the consequent diet with the low income and the ignorance of alternative nutritional. Metodología: Revisión sistemática resumida de la literatura disponible en Web of Science (incluye Scielo) y Scopus Lilacs-Bireme (Portal Regional de la Biblioteca Virtual de la Salud) con ayuda de un gestor de referencias bibliográficas, un programa para visualizar redes bibliométricas y un programa de análisis de datos cualitativos. Resultados: La búsqueda reportó 2056 registros publicados entre 1978 y 2018, alrededor de las categorías “agroindustria” y “salud”. Fueron excluidos 1795 artículos, por no ajustarse al objetivo de la revisión. Los 261 artículos incluidos fueron sometidos a un análisis estadístico y 30 fueron escogidos para su revisión cualitativa. Se identificó una tendencia creciente de artículos, siendo Brasil el país con mayor cantidad en la región, dado el auge de la agroindustria en las últimas décadas. La caña de azúcar es el subsector más estudiado y, desde un punto de vista de la problemática, los efectos más dañinos son por la exposición a agrotóxicos, y los más frecuentes, por condiciones ergonómicas que generan problemas osteomusculares. Conclusiones: En el periodoRevisión Salud de los trabajadores analizado predomina un enfoque biomédico; sin embargo, la literatura se viene enriqueciendo con aportes de las ciencias sociales. Esto ha permitido avanzar en la problematización de las condiciones de salud-enfermedad de los trabajadores de la agroindustria, a la luz de los cambios en los modelos productivos y el aumento de la precariedad laboral en el sector.

Debido a los problemas de degradación del suelo que se presentan actualmente, los fijadores biológicos de nitrógenos libres (FBNL), tienen potencial como microorganismos regeneradores de este recurso. Con el objetivo de evaluar su capacidad como grupo funcional, se buscó el aislamiento en medios selectivos Ashby y FBN; su caracterización morfológica y bioquímica; su crecimiento e inoculación en semillas de maíz (Zea mays) y Brachiaria decumbens; sembradas en un suelo degradado del predio La Ortega de la Universidad de Medellín. Se tuvieron 4 tratamientos con 5 repeticiones, los cuales estuvieron 36 días en el invernadero de Sobiotech S.A.S. y los datos se analizaron mediante un ANOVA con un nivel de significancia de α 0,05. Los resultados más destacados los presentó la Brachiaria decumbens al incrementar el peso seco y la longitud de sus raíces gracias a un aislado FBNL (AshAssm4); esto lo constituye en un microorganismo con el potencial de mejorar los procesos de revegetalización y restauración de suelos degradados.
