Los ejemplares fueron exhumados de varias localidades fosilíferas nuevas del centro y norte de la provincia de La Pampa (Argentina central), en sedimentos asignables a la Formación Cerro Azul: Bajo Giuliani, Quehué, Telén, El Guanaco y Laguna Chillhué. El conjunto de las sedimentitas loessoides analizadas en los diferentes afloramientos de esta formación indica la existencia de depósitos lacustres en la base, a los que suprayacen niveles eólicos, ambos con evidencias pedogenéticas. El análisis de estas sedimentitas en cada una de las localidades estudiadas, permitió correlacionarlas en un perfil integrado de la Formación Cerro Azul. Esta formación es correlacionable con la «Formación Epecuén», al menos en la localidad Salinas Grandes de Hidalgo y, probablemente, con los términos superiores de la Formación Arroyo Chasicó. Los marsupiales fósiles exhumados representan la casi totalidad de los grandes linajes (órdenes) de este grupo existentes en América del Sur durante el Neógeno. El didélfido marmosino Zygolestes tatei sp. nov. se distingue de la especie tipo del género por su tamaño algo mayor, el tercer premolar inferior no reducido y por la menor reducción del metacónido en el último molar inferior. Otro marmosino, Thylamys pinei sp. nov., se diferencia del resto de los Marmosini conocidos por la gran proximidad entre el paracónido y el metacónido en los molares inferiores y la gran anchura del talónido en el m4. Los marmosinos Monodelphini Thylatheridium hudsoni y T. dolgopolae están abundantemente representados en varias localidades de esta formación y su análisis confirme las estrechas afinidades existentes entre este género y Monodelphis. Unos pocos ejemplares permiten reconocer la presencia de los didelfinos Hyperdidelphys pattersoni y una especie indeterminada de Lutreolina en esta fauna. Un fragmento mandibular incluyendo parte del último molar, podría constituir el registro más antiguo de un Sparassocynidae para el centro de Argentina. Los Borhyaenidae y Thylacosmilidae (Sparassodonta) también están representados por unos pocos restos sumamente fragmentarios. Pliolestes venetus sp. nov. (Paucituberculata, Caenolestidae) se distingue de la especie tipo del género por su menor tamaño y el mayor desarrollo y menor desplazamiento del metacónido en el primer molar inferior. Microtragulus rusconii (Argirolagida, Argirolagidae) es generalizada con respecto a las otras especies del género por la menor reducción del talónido del m4, y mantiene más afinidades con M. catamarcensis que con M. reigi. Hyperdidelphys, Lutreolina, Thylatheridium, Achlysictis y, tal vez, Microtragulus constituyen géneros comunes con aquellos procedentes de los niveles superiores del Valle de Santa María y Puerta de Corral Quemado en la provincia de Catamarca (noroeste de Argentina). Pliolestes y Zygolestes constituyen por el contrario taxones exclusivos de la Formación Cerro Azul para el centro de Argentina durante la edad Huayqueriense. The capabilities of RADARSAT SAR to provide useful information for evaluating the wave field variation in nearshore waters are explored. Besides the different polarization between ERS and RADARSAT SARs, range to velocity ratios, signal to noise ratios and the acquisition swath are important issues to take into consideration in comparing the performance of the radar systems. In situ data from a coastal region in the north-west of Baja California are used to validate some of the remote observations and to provide relevant ground truth. Particular aspects of wave phenomena in finite depth waters such as refraction, diffraction and groupiness are considered. An appropriate method for analysing the radar images is applied to describe wave features as they originate from a non-homogeneous process. Wave field characteristics and their spatial variations as resolved by RADARSAT SAR are relevant variables for applications such as beach erosion and coastal management. Inclusion of specific modules to retrieve this type of information should be considered for operational software packages for the use and application of ocean surface data from SAR images. En particular, por los impactos y pasivos ambientales de la aplicación de los principios de la denominada revolución verde. En contraste, la agroecología gana adeptos en el marco de un modelo productivo diferente, aunque limitado por su menor nivel de producción por unidad de superficie. Pero para que cualquiera de estos modelos se convierta en una práctica productiva es necesario que pase por el tamiz de la toma de decisiones de los productores. Así, atendiendo al rol clave que juegan los extensionistas en la toma de decisiones de los productores, en este artículo se analiza su posicionamiento personal y el de las instituciones de las que forman parte en el marco del contraste entre agroecología y agricultura convencional. Se encuestó a partir de un cuestionario online a 583 extensionistas que trabajan en el Instituto Nacional de Tecnología Agropecuaria, la Subsecretaría de Agricultura Familiar y Desarrollo Territorial y otras instituciones de nuestro país. El cuestionario incluía preguntas sociodemográficas y pedía posicionarse a uno mismo y a la institución de pertenencia en un ítem tipo Likert de cinco niveles en el cual agroecología y agricultura convencional moderna constituían los polos. Los resultados muestran que, en promedio, los extensionistas tienen una tendencia hacia el polo agroecológico, mientras que ubican a sus instituciones en una posición intermedia entre ambos modelos productivos. En general las mujeres, quienes tienen un título en el área de las ciencias sociales y quienes no tienen título universitario, poseen una mayor orientación hacia la agroecología. Calvo Description An account of the resource Diversos estudios moleculares han revelado recientemente la existencia de una segunda especie del género Eptesicus en la península ibérica: el murciélago hortelano meridional E. isabellinus. Dicha especie se encuentra en el sur de la península y parece tener una distribución alopátrica con su especie gemela E. serotinus. Debido a la reciente separación entre ambas, es necesario realizar estudios que amplíen el conocimiento sobre la ecología de E. isabellinus. En este trabajo se han empleado datos sobre la presencia de la especie en la Región de Murcia (SE de España) para elaborar modelos de nicho ecológico (MNE) y el correspondiente mapa de idoneidad de hábitat. Los resultados revelan que la especie tiene un índice de marginalidad bajo, lo que sugiere una buena adaptación a las condiciones ambientales semiáridas de la zona de estudio. El principal hábitat utilizado por la especie son los cursos de agua, las zonas de matorral y, en general, los ecosistemas con una elevada productividad. Por el contrario, la especie parece evitar las zonas agrícolas de secano y no muestra especial preferencia por las zonas más humanizadas ni los cultivos de regadío. La información proporcionada por este estudio contribuye al conocimiento de la ecología de E. isabellinus y los resultados del modelo de distribución permiten discutir sobre los aspectos importantes para su conservación. Lloret Description An account of the resource En los últimos años se están observando fenómenos de decaimiento que afectan a diferentes tipos de bosque y matorral a una escala global, y que con frecuencia se asocian a anomalías climáticas de sequía. El fenómeno presenta patrones espaciales evidentes y no es homogéneo en todas las localidades con características climáticas similares. Esto indica la existencia de diferentes factores que contribuyen al decaimiento -como las características del suelo relacionadas con la disponibilidad de agua- y de una apreciable capacidad de resiliencia de estos ecosistemas. De hecho, para que se produzca un declive poblacional debe existir un desequilibrio entre mortalidad y reclutamiento: cualquier factor que disminuya la mortalidad o favorezca el reclutamiento tenderá a potenciar esta resiliencia. Por tanto, los cambios en la composición de la comunidad y la eventual sustitución de especies se producirían cuando el resultado de este balance sea diferente entre las especies. Además, los efectos de estos episodios extremos de sequía pueden verse acentuados por la confluencia con otras perturbaciones, particularmente con aquellas que tienden a aumentar en las condiciones asociadas a la anomalía climática. Este es el caso de los incendios, con una especial incidencia en los ecosistemas mediterráneos. Los episodios de decaimiento deberían ayudar a incorporar el contexto de cambio climático a la gestión forestal. En particular sería conveniente introducir una aproximación proactiva que favorezca los mecanismos que tienden a incrementar la resiliencia de los ecosistemas terrestres y su adaptación a las nuevas condiciones climáticas, como por ejemplo la selección de especies y genotipos, la adecuación de la estructura del bosque a nivel de rodal a las condiciones climáticas futuras y la distribución de estos elementos a escala de paisaje. We present KrakenUniq, a novel metagenomics classifier that combines the fast k-mer-based classification of Kraken with an efficient algorithm for assessing the coverage of unique k-mers found in each species in a dataset. On various test datasets, KrakenUniq gives better recall and precision than other methods and effectively classifies and distinguishes pathogens with low abundance from false positives in infectious disease samples. By using the probabilistic cardinality estimator HyperLogLog, KrakenUniq runs as fast as Kraken and requires little additional memory. Se añaden al catálogo previo 409 taxones, algunos de ellos de ecología alpina-subalpina, de los cuales el 76% corresponde al phylum Basidiomycota y el 22,2% al Ascomycota. Se presentan en forma de listado, y a continuación una selección de 20 descripciones taxonómicas completas, que corresponden con especies interesantes, poco frecuentes y posiblemente nuevas en el territorio peninsular. De las especies estudiadas se han encontrado seis que han sido propuestas para el inventario de especies protegidas de la península ibérica y/o Aragón. Se presenta en este trabajo una primera aproximación, a modo de punta de lanza para evaluaciones posteriores, del grado de conservación de algunos hayedos del Parque a través de la ocurrencia de especies indicadoras.
