In the Far Western Santa Catarina State (FWSC), in Southern Brazil, upland rice is produced by family farming from local seeds, which are conserved by generations of farmers. Based on interviews with rural families from Anchieta and Guaraciaba municipalities, the landraces produced in the region, their origins, the time of conservation, the purpose of production, the characteristics of grains and the values of use and preferences were identified. Desta forma, objetivou-se monitorar a atividade de vôo de Oebalus spp. para conhecer a flutuação populacional e determinar as épocas de maior ocorrência das espécies e morfologias nas lavouras. Armadilhas luminosas foram instaladas em áreas de cultivo de arroz irrigado na Estação Experimental da Epagri em Itajaí, SC e no Centro de Treinamento da Epagri em Araranguá, SC. A partir de setembro de 2008 a abril de 2020, as armadilhas foram ligadas das 16:00 às 9:00h, uma vez por semana, exceto de maio a agosto de cada ano, quando permaneceram desligadas. A flutuação populacional do percevejo-do-grão em arroz irrigado caracteriza-se por dois momentos de maior incidência de indivíduos, em novembro/dezembro e em fevereiro, correspondendo aos períodos de ocorrência de percevejos hibernados e dos enxames de verão, respectivamente. A espécie Oebalus poecilus (Dallas) prevalece sobre Oebalus ypsilongriseus (DeGeer) e as populações com morfologias hibernal ou estival ocorrem alternadamente ao longo do ano, se sobrepondo apenas a partir de meados de fevereiro. Em 2014 elas eram mais de 14 milhões e as maiores responsáveis pela produção destnada ao consumo familiar e pelas prátcas agroecológicas e de reprodução de sementes crioulas. Elas contribuem com 42,4% do rendimento da família, mas ainda são minoria quando se trata da propriedade dos estabelecimentos da agricultura familiar: somente 16% deles têm as mulheres como responsáveis.  Esses números refletem a pouca valorização do trabalho feminino no espaço rural e pesqueiro. Segundo dados do IBGE de 2006, muitas mulheres não são nem mesmo reconhecidas como agricultoras familiares: a maioria das atvidades produtvas realizadas por elas são consideradas extensão do trabalho doméstco. Os resultados mostram que as principais tecnologias e práticas de produção utilizadas são a utilização de silagem, em 83% das propriedades , a integração lavoura-pecuária (54,9%), manejo rotativo de pastagens (52%), adubação em pastagens (46,4%), e sobressemeadura (40,6%).
