These sediments were cultured in the laboratory with a 12:12 h L/D cycle, light intensity of 140 umol m² s'¹, at room temperature, and with a salinity of 35.4 units. The main diatom species in the sediments were Skeletonema japonicum and Chaetoceros spores. Dinofiagellate cysts were represented by the genera Diplopsalis, Scrippsiella, and Woloszynskia and the species Protoperidinium avellanum and P. leonis. After 20 days of culturing, germination and growth was recorded for S. japonicum and several of the Chaetoceros species, although their abundance was low. The diatoms with abundant growth were Stauroneis legleri, Pseudostaurosira trainorii, Pseudostaurosira sp.l, Pseudostaurosira sp. 2, and Navícula pseudoreinhardtii. The dinofiagellate Woloszynskia sp. also germinated and grew abundantly in the culture. This study includes a brief description of the cultured species and some aspects of their ecology. In addition, we discuss the possible causes for low levels of germination in planktonic diatoms, finding low dissolved oxygen concentrations in the bottom waters to be one of the main factors that presumably affected the survival of resting spores in the sediment. Four Trichoderma strains, Trichoderma arundinaceum IBT 40,837 (=Ta37), a wild-type strain producer of trichothecene harzianum A (HA); two transformed strains of Ta37, Ta37-17.139 (Δtri17) and Ta37-23.74 (Δtri23); and T. brevicompactum IBT 40,841 (=Tb41), a wild-type strain producer of the trichothecene trichodermin, were evaluated to determine the effect of these compounds on the virulence of A. obtectus and the effect of these strains on the seed’s capacity of germination and on the agronomic traits of the plants grown from these seeds. Treatments of bean seeds with different Trichoderma strains provided varying survival rates in A. obtectus adults, so life survival of insects after Tb41 strain application was reduced to 15 days. Δtri17 and Tb41 strains sprayed on P. vulgaris beans resulted in low weight losses (1.21 and 1.55%, respectively). In spite of the low germination percentage of beans treated with Δtri23 strain (lower than the germination percentages of the rest of the fungal strains applied), this treatment encouraged a greater Wet Weight of Aerial Part of the plants grown from both damaged and undamaged beans. High germination rates of Ta37 and Δtri17 strains (higher than with the rest of treatments), did not turn into a greater Wet Weight Aerial Part and Wet Weight of Root System in the future plants developed. Linear regression between the number of exit holes and the wet weight aerial part on the one hand, and between the number of exit holes and the wet weight root system on the other, showed interaction, so Δtri23 and Tb41 strains behaved differently in comparison to their respective control treatments. The number of exit holes of beans treated with Δtri23 or Tb41 was negatively correlated with both the wet weight aerial part and the wet weight root system in P. vulgaris plants. Δtri23 sprayed on undamaged beans caused the greatest Wet Weight Aerial Part and wet weight root system in plants. Due to the good results obtained by Δtri23 and Tb41 strains in this work, more studies for A. obtectus control, P. vulgaris plant growth and trichothecenes production by these strains should be explored, in order to advance in the knowledge of how these fungi could be used in the field crop, together with the application of management strategies to mitigate risks for farmers and to minimize environmental contamination. Jorrín-Novo Description An account of the resource Seed germination and early seedling development have been studied in the recalcitrant species Quercus ilex using targeted transcriptional, hormonal, and sugar analysis. Embryos and seedlings were collected at eight morphologically defined developmental stages, S0–S7. A typical triphasic water uptake curve was observed throughout development, accompanied by a decrease in sucrose and an increase in glucose and fructose. Low levels of abscisic acid (ABA) and high levels of gibberellins (GAs) were observed in mature seeds. Post-germination, indole-3-acetic acid (IAA), increased, whereas GA remained high, a pattern commonly observed during growth and development. The abundance of transcripts from ABA-related genes was positively correlated with the changes in the content of the phytohormone. Transcripts of the drought-related genes Dhn3 and GolS were more abundant at S0, then decreased in parallel with increasing water content. Transcripts for Gapdh, and Nadh6 were abundant at S0, supporting the occurrence of an active metabolism in recalcitrant seeds at the time of shedding. The importance of ROS during germination is manifest in the high transcript levels for Sod and Gst, found in mature seeds. The results presented herein help distinguish recalcitrant (e.g., Q. ilex) seeds from their orthodox counterparts. Our results indicate that recalcitrance is established during seed development but not manifest until germination (S1–S3). Post-germination the patterns are quite similar for both orthodox and recalcitrant seeds. Se implementaron normas de riego (0.4, 0.7 y 1.1 litros/planta/día) y niveles de biofertilizante (0, 100, 200 y 300 cc por bombada de 20 litros). Los experimentos establecidos ex situ fueron arreglados en diseños en franjas con tres réplicas y se utilizaron análisis univariados y multivariados en datos morfológicos. Los estudios in situ y ex situ indican que las poblaciones difieren en algunas variables, en donde variables de frutos y de planta fueron afectadas de manera significativa por las normas de riego y los niveles de biofertilizante, respectivamente. La mayor cantidad de frutos se obtuvieron con la dosis intermedia de riego, y los mayores niveles de biofertilizante. Los primeros tres componentes principales aislaron el 73.2 % de la variación total, y las dimensiones del fruto, longitud de tallo y entrenudos en la planta fueron las variables discriminantes entre los tratamiento conformados. Las poblaciones evaluadas in situ, con normas de riego y niveles de biofertilizante conformaron tres núcleos bien diferenciados. Las mediciones realizadas en las poblaciones en su hábitat natural (in situ) fueron menos variantes, en comparación con las poblaciones ex situ y expuestas a tratamientos. Nesse sentido, este estudo tem por objetivo identificar as Áreas Verdes Urbanas de Cacoal/Rondônia e, a partir dos indicadores ambientais, avaliar o status das respectivas áreas em relação ao número de habitantes e crescimento urbano. Os procedimentos envolveram: revisão bibliográfica, pesquisa de campo e elaboração de material cartográfico por meio de Sistemas de Informações Geográficas (SIGs). Utilizamos indicadores que possibilitam analisar os espaços em estudo de forma qualitativa (espacialização das AVPs, tipologia, condições ambientais e usos sociais das mesmas) e quantitativo (quantidade de AVPs e habitantes). Os resultados demonstram que, nos últimos 10 anos, foram criados 20 bairros novos, totalizando 39, possibilitando a criação de novas Áreas Verdes, somando 24 áreas (476.835,55 m2). No entanto, o PAV é estimado em 0,011% e o IAV em 6,73 m2 por habitantes, assim, Cacoal, com 69.780 habitantes na área urbana, apresenta um índice baixo em relação a valor mínimo de 15 m2 por habitante recomendado pela Associação Brasileira de Arborização Urbana. No que refere às condições ambientais, 64,34% das Áreas Verdes estão degradadas devido às ações antropogênicas. Os empresários utilizam-se do conhecimento da administração, contabilidade e economia para gerenciar seus empreendimentos e tomar decisões. No agronegócio e na agricultura familiar, não pode ser diferente. Embora, muitas vezes, o empreendimento não se constitua uma empresa formal, mas a própria pessoa física no exercício de suas atividades, precisam-se de ferramentas gerenciais. Este estudo tem como objetivo verificar se os produtores de Marechal Cândido Rondon – PR utilizam controle de custos no gerenciamento de suas atividades, identificando o perfil, o porte das propriedades e de que maneira essas variáveis podem interferir na gestão e controle das atividades rurais. A pesquisa caracteriza-se por um estudo descritivo, de levantamento, e a coleta de dados desenvolveu-se com a aplicação de questionário. Os resultados da pesquisa foram submetidos a tratamento quantitativo, com análise descritiva. Constatou-se que os produtores possuem muita experiência no desenvolvimento das atividades rurais, mas encontram dificuldades na gestão da sua propriedade. A grande maioria adota um controle de custos informal, com anotações em caderno, sendo que modelos de gestão mais sofisticados são adotados por uma minoria de produtores rurais. O tamanho da propriedade e o faturamento influenciam na gestão, uma vez que, de acordo com o cruzamento de dados, verificou-se que quanto maior for a propriedade e o faturamento, melhor será o controle de custos das atividades desenvolvidas. O presente trabalho apresenta as ações realizadas pelo projeto Tecnologias Sociais para a Gestão da Água (TSGA) para o aumento do índice de sustentabilidade de uma propriedade suinícola localizada no município de Braço do Norte, no sul do estado. Os trabalhos referem-se à aplicação de tecnologias sociais (TS) para o tratamento e valorização dos dejetos e a recuperação de áreas degradadas em faixas de APP. Como resultado, obteve-se a melhoria da qualidade ambiental da propriedade propiciando 100% de aproveitamento dos dejetos, sem o lançamento de efluentes nos corpos d’água ou contaminação dos solos. Simultaneamente, as tecnologias sociais empregadas geraram subprodutos valoráveis contribuindo com a dimensão econômica, entre eles, o biofertilizante que possibilitou a redução no consumo de fertilizantes químicos, o biogás como fonte de energia renovável e a biomassa de lemnas que foi utilizada como alimento proteico no incremento da produção de peixes gerando uma fonte de renda secundária na propriedade. Conclui-se que as TS aplicadas elevaram o índice de sustentabilidade da propriedade, em suas três dimensões, apresentando grande potencialidade para a replicação na Bacia Hidrográfica.
