On smallholder farms of eastern Amazonia, in particular the northeast of the Pará state, heavy by pesticide applications at industrial half-perennial crops are very common. Due to their large use, mainly the dimethoate, in the catchment of the Cumaru stream, Igarapé-Açu county, we evaluated the retention process of this compound in samples of the non saturated zone, as well as verified the effects of soil pH and clay and organic mater contents in this process. Among the main pesticides the farmers use in this region, dimethoate was selected for this study, due to its larger leaching potential according to the GUS (Groundwater Ubiquity Score) index. A sorption experiment was carried out to evaluate the retention of the dimethoate in sediments in the non saturated zone. The experiment showed that the sorption of the dimethoate varied from 2.5% to 36.2% (initial concentration of 20 mg.l-1) and from 6.2% to 31.0% (initial concentration of 10 mg.l-1). These data demonstrate a high contamination potential of the groundwater by this compound, mainly due to its high mobility and low retention capacity. The dimethoate sorption rates were positively related to organic matter content in the sediments. On the other hand, values have an inverse relationship with the sorption rates of dimethoate, while clay content did not produce any effect on its retention.</text>

<text>This article seeks to analyze the current situation and environmental management structure of the municipalities affected by the first hurricane of the South Atlantic, the Hurricane Catarina, five years after its occurrence. In this way, we tried to verify to what extent the awareness of global threats, such as climate changes and the consequent natural disasters, increases the predisposition of institutional improvement related to the environment in municipalities. Therefore, we visited all municipalities affected by the hurricane with impact of damage classified as medium, high or very high. Based on primary and secondary data, we 211 sought to compare the environmental management structure at the time of the occurrence of the disaster and current structure. As conclusion, it is possible to say that little has changed in terms of municipal environmental management, even after 5 years of the phenomenon.</text>

<text>The present paper analyzes social interventions adressed to family farmers living in the buffer periurban zone of La Matanza party –Greater Buenos Aires-, focusing on coordination at levels among different institutions that implement public policies oriented to promote and support such agricultural productions.    Qualitative methodology was used for ethnographic field work and secondary information survey. Author/s aim/s to demonstrate that the articulations and agreements between institutions and actors are still incipient and do not realize about their real potentialities. The author/s describe/s interfaces between different actors: producers, extension agents and implementers, as well as interventions to incorporate appropriate technologies. The conclusions presented above show that this kind of interventions are being carried out on an conflict scenario and dispute over the implementation of development policies and programs.</text>

A alta dose de fósforo influencia as variáveis AP, NVP, NSP e PROD, entretanto, as doses de fósforo não influenciam as variáveis AIV e PSC.Action biostimulants performance of soybean under two phosphorus fertilizationAbstract: This study aimed to evaluate the action of biostimulants on agronomic characteristics and yield for soybean, in low and high phosphorus level. The experimental design was a randomized complete block with four replications, with three biostimulants and a witness. The characteristics were evaluated for agronomic traits (PH = plant height, HPI = height of first pod insertion; NPP = number of pods per plant, NSP = number of seeds per plant, and WHS = weight of one hundred seeds and PROD = Productivity). Environments with high levels of phosphorus gave higher values of PH (70.3 cm), NPP (138.8), NSP (301.5) and PROD (2868.76 kg ha-1). Regarding the characteristics HPI and WHS, the environment with a high dose of phosphorus, there was no statistical difference between treatments. The best values of PH, NPP and NSP are obtained in treatments T11 and T12, while for PROD at T13 in both treatments highlight the biostimulant, BU-EC. The high dose of phosphorus influences the variables PH, NPP, PROD and NSP, however, the phosphorus levels do not influence the variables HPI and WHS. </text>

<text>The inadequate use and management in cropping systems in the semiarid region may decline the soil's ability to sustain the production. The objective of this work was to determine the soil quality index (SQI) in agroecological and conventional irrigated agricultural experimental units (AEU), located in the community of Sombras Grandes, Caraúbas, Rio Grande do Norte. Simple soil samples (0-20cm) were collected from 2009 to 2012. To determine the SQI, it was used 11 quality indicators associated to the soil functions in maintain the productivity capacity over time: bulk density (Bd), total porosity (TP), penetration resistance (PR), water availability in soil (AWS/TP), moisture retention at -33 kPa (MR/TP), pH, phosphorus assimilable (P), cation exchange capacity (CEC), base saturation (V), soil organic matter (SOM), clay dispersed in water (CDW) and flocculation degree (FD). The SQI in agroecological and conventional irrigated AEU were classified as good (0.80) and bad (0.45), respectively. In conventional AEU there is need for agricultural practices, like injection of organic waste, that improve the FD because it was the indicator that most contributed to reduce the SQI. The SQI reflected the integrated performance of the chemical and physical properties, which can be used in making decisions about the soil use and management.</text>

Showing the importance of cooperatives to small farmers so they can survive. The methodology adopted was designed as a bibliographical review, to reach the objectives the data were collected and analyzed from the following processes: CAPES periodicals website, IBICT, scientific articles and dissertations, classifying the topics addressed. Management still has difficulties that need to be overcome, as research shows that organizations aim to achieve the same goals and achieve desired results so that the actions succeed. Therefore, we end with the importance of management needs, processes, and technological resources, to improve financial controls, as well as the quality of the services provided by the company.</text>

[Detection of IgG antibodies to Anaplasma marginale in newborn calves in Baixada Fluminense region, RJ.] E-mail: fabiojms@icb.ufrj.br The objectives were to evaluate the prevalence and the seroepidemiological evolution to Anaplasma marginale in 41 calves since birth to first 180 days of life, in a enzootic region in the state of Rio de Janeiro. The analyzed animals belonged to Centro Estadual de Pesquisa em Agricultura Orgânica - Pesagro-Rio, Seropédica-RJ. The study was conducted during the rainy and dry seasons, between 2009 and 2010. A total of 1607 serum samples was collected initially every three days and processed using indirect ELISA test to detect IgG anti-A. marginale antibodies. Percent values for A. marginale seroprevalence as function of age were tested using the χ2 test at 5% significance level. The prevalence of IgG anti-A. marginale antibodies were 39.8% in calves younger than 30 days, 23.3% between 30 and 60 days, 27.3% for 60 and 120 days and 38.2% to 120 and 180 days. Calves with age between 30 and 60, 60 and 120 and 120 and 180 days were respectively 1.90, 1.75 and 1.55 more risk to be seronegative for A. marginale than newborn ones. The results show that calves had low levels of IgG antibodies anti-A marginale in all study, this condition induces them to development of clinical anaplasmosis. Moreover, the property was considered unstable epidemiologically to A. marginale, although located in a endemic stability area.</text>
