La colonización de hábitat disponible es un proceso fundamental de la ecología de poblaciones y comunidades de organismos marinos. La colonización sobre sustratos artificiales por invertebrados y su variación espacial fue estudiada por un año en el arrecife coralino de La Azufrada, Isla Gorgona (Colombia). Cinco juegos de baldosas (terracota y grés) fueron dispuestos en tres zonas arrecifales (trasarrecife, planicie y talud). Las baldosas fueron recuperadas y examinadas después de 12 meses posteriores a su instalación. La comunidad desarrollada estuvo compuesta por 24 taxa siendo notable la ausencia de corales. No se encontraron diferencias en la riqueza de especies entre las zonas arrecifales, los materiales utilizados y las superficies de las baldosas. Las baldosas fueron dominadas por cirripedios (Balanus trigonus) con una densidad de 26 787.8 (±47 301.0) ind/m² (media±1D.E). La densidad de esta especie fue significativamente más alta en el talud y menor en las superficies superiores. La dominancia de B. trigonus durante el experimento sugiere un posible efecto sinérgico entre sus características reproductivas y su habilidad competitiva por el espacio evitando que otros organismos, como los corales, recluten exitosamente.

Se analizan vínculos sociales y su relación con la adopción de buenas prácticas agrícolas en café desde el enfoque de las redes sociales. Se aplicaron entrevistas semiestructuradas sobre aspectos socioeconómicos, adopción de buenas prácticas de producción y relaciones sociales a 67 cafeticultores. Los productores de café tienen superficies y rendimientos promedio de 2.4 ha y 1.9 t/ha-1 respectivamente. Las prácticas adoptadas están relacionadas con el manejo del cultivo, control de plagas y uso de nuevas variedades. Existe una baja densidad de vínculos que indican escasa conectividad entre productores, nodos de investigación y proveedores. La estructura de relaciones bajo el escenario actual dificulta el proceso de adopción de buenas prácticas agrícolas por la baja vinculación a fuentes externas de información.

La presencia de residuos fitosanitarios o de ocratoxina A en vinos puede afectar a la salud de los consumidores. Pocas bodegas han implantando medidas de control, o han verificado la eficacia de las medidas adoptadas.Era interesante valorar los resultados sobre residuos fitosanitarios y ocratoxina A en muestras de vino tomadas por las bodegas o por el control oficial.Se consideraron todos los resultados analíticos sobre fitosanitarios o ocratoxina A en muestras de vino tomadas entre 2008 y 2015 disponibles en las bodegas de los distritos de salud de La Roda y Villarrobledo, o en muestras de control oficial. En total 20 analíticas de fitosanitarios y 64 determinaciones de ocratoxina A.Puesto que no hay límite legal en vino, ningún resultado sobrepasó el límite máximo de residuos fitosanitarios en uva de vinificación. La determinación de fitosanitarios en vino tiene sentido si se justifican factores de dilución o concentración durante el proceso de elaboración, respecto a los límites máximos de residuos fitosanitarios en uva, lo cual no sucedió en ningún caso. Una muestra presentó residuos de dos fitosanitarios distintos, y en una muestra de vino ecológico se obtuvo 5 mg kg-1 de iprodiona (límite máximo de residuo de iprodiona en uva: 10 mg kg-1), orientando sobre prácticas agrícolas incorrectas.Ningún resultado de ocratoxina A superó el límite legal en vino de 2 μg L-1 (Reglamento(CE)Nº 1881/2006). Se obtuvieron concentraciones de hasta 0,44 μg L-1, demostrando que es posible la ocurrencia de ocratoxina A en vino.Es necesario que las bodegas definan y apliquen medidas de control eficaces sobre estos dos peligros.

La prevalencia de sobrepeso y obesidad se ha incrementado de manera notable en las últimas décadas, constituyendo un gran problema de salud pública. El desequilibrio del balance energético, consecuencia de una alta ingesta calórica y un bajo gasto energético, es incapaz de explicar por sí solo este incremento, de manera que otros factores conductuales, genéticos y ambientales deben estar jugando un papel importante. La hipótesis clínica de disrupción endocrina sugiere que la exposición humana a contaminantes ambientales-disruptores endocrinos (DE) con actividad como “obesógenos”, interfiere de forma inapropiada sobre el metabolismo lipídico y la adipogénesis, entre otros mecanismos, promoviendo el sobrepeso y la obesidad. El catálogo completo de residuos químicos que pueden contribuir a esta hipótesis ambiental no está aún establecido, aunque ya se conocen algunos compuestos obesógenos. La identificación de sustancias químicas directamente relacionadas con el desarrollo de obesidad y sus complicaciones metabólicas contribuiría a establecer y mejorar las recomendaciones y exigencias de los estamentos públicos y privados para la seguridad alimentaria y de bienes de consumo y, en definitiva, las políticas en salud pública.

El proceso de apertura comercial que viene enfrentando el país desde finales del Siglo XX ha puesto al descubierto una serie de debilidades y amenazas que en estos tiempos deben afrontar nuestras organizaciones empresariales y en especial las llamadas Pymes. Las Pymes colombianas y en particular las Agroindustriales de la Provincia de Tundama enfrentan en la actualidad serias dificultades que les impide ser unidades empresariales competitivas. Es evidente que las Pymes Agroindustriales de la Provincia de Tundama presentan elevados costos de transacción cuando acceden a los mercados de insumos y servicios, lo cual redunda en la aparición de obstáculos para adelantar procesos de adopción de tecnología que les permita hacia un futuro próximo, ser competitivas. Palabras claves: Competitividad, Agroindustria, Rentabilidad, Gestión. Abstract: The companies, in particular, the Pymes are in need to acknowledge that competitiveness is the most important challenge to be resolved. The commercial opening that the country faced starting the final of 20th century provoked the discovery of the series of weaknesses and threats that our companies and, especially, the Pymes, currently should confront. The Colombian Pymes and, in particular, the Pymes Agroindustries of the Tundama province currently confront a number of difficulties that prevent them from being the competitive management units. It is evident that the Pymes Agroindustries of the Tundama province present high costs of transaction when entering the markets of products and services that results in the appearance of obstacles to improve the adoption of a technology that, in the near future, would permit the company to be competitive. Este ensayo ha abordado el concepto de aprendizaje informal, con énfasis en los aprendizajes botánicos que adquirimos fuera de los espacios formales, en el hogar, viajes, con amigos, el trabajo, etc. Cuando pensamos en botánica, creemos que es un conocimiento para unos pocos, y lo asociamos a los planes de estudio de las carreras de grado con orientación biológica; sin embargo, el aprendizaje sobre esta ciencia en nuestra vida cotidiana es más natural de lo que parece. Se realizó una pequeña indagación bibliográfica y conceptual sobre la terminología, y una recopilación de relatos sobre algunos tipos de aprendizajes vinculados a la botánica que las personas aprenden por diferentes medios y contextos. Como resultado se propone reflexionar la interdependencia entre los ámbitos de aprendizajes, para alejarnos de esa visión de compartimentos estancos, eliminando las etiquetas y pensando en la idea de aprendizajes integrados

Introduction: Ultra-processed foods have industrial formulations high in sugar, saturated fat, sodium, stabilizers and preservatives with aggressive marketing. The objective of the study was to identify foods with excessive nutrient content according to the PAHO 2016 nutrient profile model. Material and methods: Study descriptive carried out from July to November 2016 in the nutrition laboratory (Zamorano University, Honduras). An exhaustive sample was made of the different ultra-processed foods offered in the main sales centers of national representativeness. A total of 520 food products were grouped into eleven categories, according to the PAHO 2016 nutrient profile model. The nutritional labels were photographed, reviewed and a database was created in Excel © (Microsoft, 2010) with 28 variables (category, type, name, company, country of origin, serving size, caloric intake, reported nutrients). Results: The products came from 21 countries and 138 companies; 75% of the total products examined per serving had excess sugars, 37% sodium, 33% total fats and 30% contained sweeteners (other than sugar). The 96% of calorically sweetened soft drinks, chocolates, caramels and calorically sweetened dairy beverages presented excess sugars content; 92%, 88% and 95% of the cheeses with salt added, sausages and snacks contained excess sodium; 82% and 71% of cookies were identified with excess sugars and fats, respectively. The 91% of cereals with added sugars had excess sugars and 64% sodium. Conclusions: Regulate and/or decrease the advertising of ultra-processed foods; implement mandatorily the content of added sugars and adopt the front labeling.

RESUMEN La importancia de la conservación de los fitorecursos para la agricultura ecológica; conllevó a esta investigación, con el objetivo de conocer en qué medida los elementos del manejo de los sistemas silvopastoriles, en específico los fitosanitarios, contribuyen a que perduren en el tiempo las principales especies forrajeras que conforman sus asociaciones Para ello se muestrearon entre 1 y 3 años, 8 sistemas silvopastoriles de las provincias de Matanzas y Mayabeque. Como mediciones se realizaron la composición botánica del pastizal, la cantidad de insectos fitófagos y benéficos, y de arvenses presentes en cada sistema. Los resultados indican que en los cuartones donde hubo una adecuada rotación de los animales, se incrementó el porcentaje de especies pratenses en la composición botánica, y la densidad de árboles de leucaena por hectárea se mantuvo, con la excepción de la muerte de los arboles por inundaciones prolongadas, poca poda de la plantación, y donde los animales no pastaron debidamente. Un comportamiento similar se obtuvo con la presencia de insectos fitófagos y benéficos; que impidieron brotes masivos de plagas en el período evaluado. En los cuartones donde se incrementó el porcentaje de pastos naturales, aumento el número de arvenses, indicadores de mal manejo, aunque en algunos casos sirven de refugio y/o alimentación a depredadores y parasitoides. Se concluye que tanto la labor cultural de la poda como la conservación de los enemigos naturales permiten mantener el equilibrio biológico, y por ende a la sostenibilidad económica y ambiental de los mismos.Systems management elements sylvopastoral, with emphasis on plant protection, that enhance the conservation of fodder plant genetic resources ABSTRACTThe importance of conservation of plant genetic resources for organic farming led to this research , in order to know to what extent the elements of the management of silvopastoral systems , specifically crop protection , contribute to sustainability in time the main species shaping their associations forage samples were collected after 1 to 3 years, 8 silvopastoral systems in the provinces of Matanzas and Mayabeque.
