El diagnóstico de los factores que inciden en la organización del trabajo permitió proponer un programa de mejoras, capaz de garantizar la calidad de vida laboral (CVL) de los trabajadores(as) de la carrera de Agroindustria – ESPAM MFL. Se diseñó y aplicó un procedimiento que propició la familiarización con el área, se realizó entrevistas a trabajadores de las unidades de docencia, investigación y vinculación (UDIV) adscritas a la carrera. La evaluación de la organización del trabajo se dio por la implementación de un cuestionario de valoración general y otro de valoración específica para el estudio del régimen de trabajo y descanso, empleando la técnica de estudio de tiempos; además se utilizó la técnica del diagrama bimanual para describir los métodos de trabajo aplicados a los procesos de producción. En los resultados se detectó duplicidad de actividades, fatiga, estrés, y operaciones rutinarias, todas estas fueron priorizadas mediante el método Kendall para someterlas a un análisis causa-efecto, y reconocer las sub-causas que las generan.

La Huerta de Cabra es un referente ineludible de los paisajes y regadíos tradicionales del interior de la España meridional. Situadas en el contacto entre la campiña y la Subbética cordobesa, deben su existencia al importante caudal que brota de la surgencia kárstica (Fuente del Río) que permite el riego del piedemonte (Huertas Altas) y, aguas abajo, de la terraza aluvial del río Cabra (Huertas Bajas). De origen inmemorial aunque tuvieron gran esplendor en época árabe, se consolidaron en el siglo XVI. Desde entonces conformaron un vergel de geométricas explotaciones minifundistas y rico y variado policultivo, que abastecía de frutas y verduras a un amplio entorno, siendo su ameno paisaje glosado en la literatura y en la percepción de propios y extraños. La orientación productivista de los años sesenta del siglo XX las encauzó hacia la transformación e intensificación de las prácticas agrícolas, llegando a alcanzar su zénit de ingresos y rendimientos. Pero pronto acusaron la incapacidad para competir y adaptarse a los nuevos mercados, de ahí que en las últimas décadas hayan entrado en una dinámica que las hacen casi irreconocibles con respecto al pasado cercano. Las Huertas Altas han sido presa de una urbanización poco controlada, y las Huertas Bajas objeto del abandono y cautivas del monocultivo. La pérdida del patrimonio que ello ha supuesto es dolorosa e irreparable, y ambas son hoy un paisaje roto: las Huertas Altas por la pérdida del suelo rústico a favor de la ocupación urbana y las Huertas Bajas por la pérdida de su función de auténticas huertas.

Analizamos el crecimiento corporal de una nueva especie de lagartija endémica del género Xenosaurus Peters, ubicada en la Reserva de la Biósfera, Sierra Gorda - Querétaro, México. Se estimaron las tasas de crecimiento corporal y se analizaron a partir de los modelos de crecimiento de Von Bertalanffy, logístico por longitud y logístico por peso. Para describir el patrón de crecimiento de estas lagartijas, utilizamos el modelo logístico por longitud debido a que fue el modelo que tuvo el mejor ajuste a las tasas observadas de crecimiento corporal. No encontramos diferencias significativas entre machos y hembras en el parámetro característico de crecimiento ni en la talla asintótica proyectada. Por lo tanto, se construyó una sola curva de crecimiento para ambos sexos. Los machos alcanzan la madurez sexual a los 24 meses, mientras que las hembras lo hacen hasta los 37 meses. Las tasas de crecimiento independientes de la talla no fueron estadísticamente diferentes entre años (2001, 2002 y 2003), ni entre estaciones (estación húmeda y seca). Nuestros resultados sugieren que la variación en el crecimiento corporal de esta especie, no es causada exclusivamente por las variaciones ambientales, sino más bien por una compleja combinación de factores ambientales y bases genéticas.We analyzed variation in body growth of a new lizard species of the genus Xenosaurus Peters that is endemic to the Biosphere Reserve, Sierra Gorda - Querétaro, México. We calculated body growth rates and analyzed them by means of the Von Bertalanffy, logistic-by-length, and logistic-by-weight growth models. We used the logistic-by-length model to describe the growth pattern of these lizards because this model provided the best fit to the observed body growth rates. No significant differences were found between males and females in the characteristic growth parameter or in the projected asymptotic size. Therefore, a single growth curve was constructed for both sexes. Males reach maturity at 24 months, whereas females at 37 months. Size-independent growth rates were not statistically different among years (2001, 2002 and 2003) or between season (wet and dry season). Our results suggest that variation in body growth of this species is not caused exclusively by environmental variation, but rather by a complex combination of environmental and genetic factors.

La vegetación subacuática de Los Petenes, Campeche, México, se destaca por su gran diversidad florística, compuesto por una gran variedad de pastos marinos y varias especies del género Caulerpa sp. Caulerpa es un género de relevancia ecológica, con especies como la Caulerpa taxifolia, que es invasiva en el Mediterráneo, con un impacto negativo en varias plantas sub-acuáticas nativas, pero poco se sabe acerca de la demografía y la dinámica poblacional de las especies de Caulerpa y su contribución a las redes alimenticias. El objetivo general es conocer la demografía de Caulerpa sp., por medio del número de estolones, frondas completas e incompletas, el diámetro de los estolones y la biomasa. El estudio se realizó en la Reserva de la Biosfera de Los Petenes, en Campeche, México. La Vegetación Acuática Sumergida (VAS) en la Biosfera de los Petenes está constituida por poblaciones tanto monoespecíficas como mixtas de las especies de pastos marinos Thalassia testudinum, Halodule wrightii y Syringodium filiforme. Aunque las especies de algas clorófitas, feofitas y rodófitas son elementos fundamentales de la VAS, destacan por su cobertura y abundancia las especies de Caulerpa. En mayo y junio del 2010, hubo diferencias significativas de la cantidad de estolones, su diámetro, frondas completas e incompletas y el tamaño de los estolones como el de los ejes erectos. En el 2010 el valor de la tasa finita de crecimiento poblacional (l) fue de 2.38±0.15 con el método de las marcas y con el de la biomasa 1.20±0.13 y en el 2011 los valores fueron de 1.80±0.36 con las marcas y de 1.35±0.15 con la biomasa. Los resultados indican que la población está creciendo, pero es controlada por factores bióticos y abióticos. A pesar de que no se detecta la especie como una amenaza aparente, sugerimos que se continúen estos estudios demográficos sobre C. paspaloides var. wurdemannii e incluso de otras especies del mismo género. No solo para detectar una invasión o un crecimiento explosivo, sino porque la presencia de estas especies no indican condiciones bajas en oxígeno y altas en sulfatos.

OBJECTIVE: To obtain background information about maternal health and health-seeking behaviors among indigenous mothers living in rural Mam-Mayan communities of Quetzaltenango, Guatemala. METHODS: A cross-sectional analysis of 100 pregnant and breastfeeding women in four communities was performed to determine prevalence and determinants of service utilization. RESULTS: Extreme poverty, poor education, and poor access to basic resources were prevalent. Out of 100 women 14-41 years old, 33% did not use the formal health care sector for antenatal care; the majority consulted a traditional birth attendant. Only 13% delivered in a hospital. Lower socioeconomic status, lack of fluency in Spanish, and no ownership of a motorized vehicle were associated with the highest likelihood of poor utilization of services. CONCLUSIONS: A variety of factors affect utilization of maternal health services by indigenous women in rural Quetzaltenango. These include socioeconomic disparities, ethnic and linguistic differences, and poor access to basic resources. The current reproductive needs of women should be addressed to improve their health and increase their chance of having healthy children.

OBJETIVO: Determinar el grado en que el etiquetado de productos alimentarios informa acerca del consumo de sal. MÉTODOS: Se realizó un análisis crítico y sistemático de 9 estudios -seleccionados de un total de 133- recogidos mediante revisión de la literatura científica sobre las intervenciones realizadas en población humana orientadas a reducir el consumo de sal a través de mensajes en el etiquetado. Toda la información se obtuvo mediante consulta directa y vía Internet a la literatura científica recogida en varias bases de datos. RESULTADOS: De los 133 artículos recuperados, una vez aplicados los criterios de inclusión y exclusión, se seleccionaron para la revisión 9 trabajos: en todos ellos se planteaba a la población en estudio su conocimiento acerca de la interpretación de la etiqueta sobre el contenido de sal de los alimentos. CONCLUSIONES: Los consumidores de alimentos entienden y valoran más a los logotipos que a la composición nutricional que figura en la etiqueta. Se justificaría entonces el uso de logotipos alternativos que facilitaran esta información y que además fueran normalizados. Esta situación se ve reforzada porque la inclusión de símbolos fácilmente entendibles favorece la correcta elección por parte de los consumidores.OBJECTIVE: Determine the extent to which labeling of food products informs about salt consumption. METHODS: A critical and systematic analysis was conducted of 9 studies selected out of a total of 133 studies. The studies were collected by reviewing the scientific literature on interventions conducted in the human population aimed towards reducing salt consumption through label messaging. All of the information was obtained by direct consultation and by Internet from the scientific literature collected in several databases. RESULTS: Out of the 133 articles recovered, after the inclusion and exclusion criteria were applied, 9 studies were selected for review. All of them took into account the ability of the study population to interpret and understand salt content labeling in foods. CONCLUSIONS: Food consumers understand and value easily recognizable logos more than the information found on nutritional composition labels. Therefore, use of alternative logos that facilitate this information and are also standardized could be justified. This situation is reinforced because the inclusion of symbols that are easily understandable favors the most adequate choice by consumers.

This article shows results of the research done in boyacá by the Universidad Pedagógica y Tecnológica de Colombia named Innovation Data, Indicators, Information and Knowledge in Colombia, which was expanded to diverse regions of the country by the Universities Eafit, Surcolombiana and Tecnológica de bolívar. This text also presents the good innovation practices in a representative group of SMEs, which were classified as producers of goods and services, and belonged to the industrial (agroindustry, manufacturing and textiles) and service (tourism, IT, health and transportation) sectors in boyacá, especially in the cities of Tunja, Paipa, Duitama and Sogamoso. The innovation valuation was made based on entrepreneur self-assessment of their products, services, processes, management and market. The results indicate that the SMEs group is considered to be in a stage of development, and that present relevant gaps in the four types of innovation.Este artículo es el resultado de la investigación realizada en Boyacá por la UniversidadPedagógica y Tecnológica de Colombia, dentro del proyecto Datos, indicadores,información y conocimiento de la innovación en Colombia, realizado también en susrespectivas regiones por las universidades Eafit, Surcolombiana y Tecnológica de Bolívar.El artículo examina las buenas prácticas de innovación (BPI) en un grupo representativode empresas, clasificadas así: productoras de bienes y prestadoras de servicios, de lossectores de producción (Agroindustria, Manufactura y Textil-confección) y de servicios(Turismo, TIC, Salud y Transporte) en Boyacá, particularmente de las ciudades deTunja, Paipa, Duitama y Sogamoso; examen hecho a partir de la autoevaluación de losempresarios sobre innovación en productos o servicios, procesos, gestión y mercado. El género Leucaena, descrito por George Bentham (J. Bot. Hooker 4: 416–417, 1848), pertenece a la familia Fabacea, subfamilia Mimosoidea. Comprende arbustos y árboles nativos del continente americano (especialmente México y América Central). La especie Leucaena leucocephala (Lam.) de Wit ssp. leucocephala y ssp. glabrata (Rose) Zárate P. son utilizadas ampliamente en todo el trópico y subtrópico como abono verde y forraje. Publicaciones locales e informes inéditos acerca de la introducción de la especie como cultivo de importancia económica y la observación personal del crecimiento espontáneo de la especie en varias localidades de Paraguay, ameritan el registro oficial de la especie como entidad introducida y naturalizada de la flora paraguaya. Para ello, se revisaron bases de datos botánicos (“Flora del Conosur”, “Tropicos”, IPNI), los herbarios locales (FCQ) y se realizaron colectas botánicas y registros fotográficos para documentar el trabajo. Se registraron colectas de ejemplares desde el año 1977, cultivados y de crecimiento espontáneo, en Asunción Capital, Central, Paraguarí, Presidente Hayes, Boquerón; y se confirmó la presencia y crecimiento espontáneo de la especie con sus dos subespecies. Los ejemplares colectados en Cordillera y Canindeyú se identificaron como ssp. glabrata. Leucaena leucocephala (Lam.) de Wit ssp. leucocephalay ssp. glabrata (Rose) Zárate P. ha dado evidencias claras de estar naturalizada en Paraguay, pues se ha constatado su crecimiento espontáneo. Su comportamiento invasor en otras regiones del globo da indicios de que aquí también podría tenerlo en condiciones favorables, lo que se ha podido registrar en este trabajo.

En Colombia, el arroz ocupa el primer lugar en seguridad alimentaria, valor económico y generación de empleo entre los cultivos anuales, siendo el sistema bajo riego más importante. El objetivo fue determinar el progreso, estabilidad y adaptabilidad del rendimiento de arroz bajo riego, en cinco departamentos del caribe colombiano. Se utilizaron datos del Ministerio de Agricultura y Desarrollo Rural, correspondiente a los Departamentos de Córdoba, Bolívar, Magdalena, Cesar y Guajira, durante el periodo 1987-2008. La estimación del progreso del rendimiento se realizó a través del análisis de regresión lineal entre los años (variable explicativa) y el rendimiento de grano (variable explicada). La estabilidad se determinó a través del coeficiente de variación para tres períodos consecutivos de cinco años y el último de siete. La adaptabilidad, se realizó con el coeficiente de regresión lineal (bi). Los resultados destacan que el progreso en el rendimiento de grano en el Caribe colombiano, osciló entre 1.15% y 3.36% por año y 52.2 y 168.1 kg.ha-1, especialmente en el Departamento de Bolívar (3.36% por año y 168.1 kg.ha-1). La estabilidad, resultó en general alta (CV4.57) para el rendimiento de grano.In Colombia, the rice crop under irrigation system ranks first in food security, economic value and employment offer among annual crops, becoming the most important. The objective of this study was to quantify increasing, stability and adaptability of irrigated rice in five departments of the Colombian Caribbean area. Data from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development for the departments of Cordoba, Bolivar, Magdalena, Cesar and Guajira, during the year period 1987 to 2008 were used. The increasing in yield was determined using the linear regression analysis among years (independent variable) and grain yield (dependent variable) in each department. The yield stability was determined by the coefficient of variation across of three consecutive periods of five years and the last seven years. The yield adaptability was estimated using linear regression coefficient (bi). The results indicate that progress in grain yield in the Colombian Caribbean, ranged from 1.15% to 3.36% per year and 52.2 to 168.1 kg.ha-1, especially in the department of Bolívar (3.36% per year and 168.1 kg.ha-1). The yield stability was generally high (CV4.57) for grain yield.

Pimelodella taenioptera Miranda Ribeiro, 1914 and Imparfinis schubarti (Gomes, 1956) are two of the most common fish species in Bodoquena Plateau streams, Paraguay basin. These species have benthic habits and subaquatical observations suggested that they present differentiation in their preference for mesohabitat types. Pimelodella taenioptera shows preference for slow waters, such as pools, while I. schubarti is associated to riffles. In this study we investigated if the known patterns of mesohabitat use of P. taenioptera and I. schubarti can be predict by their ecomorphological and trophic traits. We described the dietary habits and ecomorphological attributes of P. taenioptera and I. schubarti individuals, captured in the Parque Nacional da Serra da Bodoquena (PNSB), Mato Grosso do Sul state, central Brazil. Pimelodella taenioptera presented a more generalist diet, consuming a total of 23 different food items. Imparfinis schubarti have a diet based exclusively on aquatic insects.
