                <text>The Covid-19 pandemic is one of the most disruptive, life-changing events that had brought the world to a perpetual standstill in 2020. Schools and institutions of higher education were impacted badly, resulting from the lockdowns and movement restrictions imposed by the governments of numerous countries. Students and faculty found themselves in virtual classrooms, with many caught unaware of what they needed to do, having to learn new things at lightning speed and feeling a sense of despair. While many online learners had frustrations and concerns regarding their online learning experience, there were those who had a good learning experience. The students’ observations and perceptions of the difficulties and opportunities they encountered in their online learning experience were assessed through grounded theory using textual thematic qualitative analysis of their reflective feedback. The findings reveal that most students had a good online learning experience and found that the academic continuity plans implemented by the universities were effective. The concerns that some students had with online learning were related to technological drawbacks such as poor internet connections, and personal concerns about academic ability and time management skills, among others. This study concludes by offering insights and recommendations to institutions, faculty, and students on how best to conduct online learning and teaching for all.</text>

                <text>La presente investigación constituye una primera aproximación para el caso de Cuba, a la medición de la contribución de la bioeconomía desde una perspectiva económica. Su desarrollo ha estado vinculado a la Red Iberoamericana de Bioeconomía y Cambio Climático (REBICAMCLI) financiada por el programa CYTED. Los datos utilizados fueron tomados en su mayoría del Anuario estadístico de Cuba, principal publicación de la Oficina Nacional de Estadística e Información (ONEI), donde se recogen las estadísticas oficiales del país. El año base que se toma para los análisis es 1997, que es el que se reconoce hasta la fecha como referencia oficial en el Sistema de Cuentas Nacionales. No obstante, dada la necesidad de cambiar el año base cada cierto tiempo, se conoce que éste está aún en proceso de cambio. Esta primera aproximación muestra un muy bajo nivel de aporte de la bioeconomía en Cuba, para un promedio de un 4%, cifra que pudiera incrementarse de contarse con una información más detallada a nivel del Sistema de Cuentas Nacionales. En cuanto a los factores que condicionan este bajo aporte, están problemas estructurales de la economía, como la doble circulación monetaria, las distorsiones de precios, los subsidios a la producción en el sector agrícola, entre otros.   </text>

                <text>El uso de bioinsecticidas para el control de plagas que atacan cultivos con efectos negativos al medio ambiente, es un tema que viene trabajándose a nivel mundial como una alternativa para evitar la contaminación los efectos sobre la salud de los trabajadores del sector agrícola. En este sentido y para controlar la hormiga arriera, se ha creado un bioinsecticida a base de esporas filamentosas de dos hongos entomopatógenos como el Beauveria bassianay el Trichoderma lignorum. En la presente revisión sistemática de literatura se pretende identificar los efectos en la salud que pueden presentar los componentes de la formulación del bioinsecticida, entre ellos, las esporas filamentosas componente principal, los posibles efectos al medio ambiente y los beneficios socioeconómicos por su uso, hallándose datos de enfermedades como abscesos, queratitis y alergias respiratorias de las personas inmunocomprometidas. En investigaciones realizadas se identificó que las esporas filamentosas pueden ingresar al cuerpo humano por vía aérea o mucosa dado su tamaño aproximado de 0,28 μm pueden llegar hasta los alveolos pulmonares. Ambientalmente los efectos ecológicos son positivos además por las ventajas económicas por eso de este tipo de productos agroecológicos.</text>

                <text>Se reconoce que el ambiente térmico es uno de los factores ecológicos más importantes para determinar el crecimiento, el desarrollo y la productividad de animales domésticos con efectos directos e indirectos sobre su fisiología y comportamiento. A pesar de tener una adaptación específica e individual, es muy común que, dentro de las variaciones de temperatura estacionales o diurnas, los animales se enfrenten a situaciones fuera de su zona de confort térmico. Debido al estrés calórico, las vacas lecheras reducen su producción y fertilidad, y por lo tanto, llevan a cabo un aumento en la incidencia de trastornos metabólicos, causando bajos causando bajos ingresos para la finca en corto y mediano plazo. El cambio climático es quizás uno de los factores más importantes en las respuestas de los animales. Este estudio tuvo como objetivo describir y comprender las interacciones de las variables asociadas con el estrés por calor en el ganado lechero. El enfoque del sistema aplicado a este mecanismo fisiológico específico ayuda aliviar el estrés calórico en vacas lecheras cuando se relacionan los aspectos de pastoreo y las necesidades del animal. Se usó una anotación de diagrama de bucle causal para conectar las variables biológicas incluidas en los límites del sistema. Las conexiones causales se validaron con algunas citas bibliográficas sobre la influencia del estrés calórico. Las interconexiones de retroalimentación más importantes resaltadas, subrayan la estructura dominante y los patrones esperados. Se encontraron cuatro bucles balance implicados en los mecanismos fisiológicos utilizados por los animales para reducir la producción de calor metabólico y para regular la homeostasis de la temperatura interna.</text>

                <text>This cross-sectional study aimed to characterize the lifestyle habits, anxiety levels and basic psychological needs (BPN), in Portuguese adults during the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, including a comparison between genders and age groups. In total, 1404 adults (36.4 ± 11.7 years; 69.6% female) answered sociodemographic data and three instruments: the International Physical Activity Questionnaire, the Basic Need General Satisfaction Scale and the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory. Males revealed higher values for the total energy expenditure (z = -2.26; p = 0.024; η 2 = 0.004) and for the level of satisfaction of competence (z = -2.62; p = 0.009; η 2 = 0.005). Females showed higher scores for the anxiety state (z = -7.87; p ≤ 0.001; η 2 = 0.044) and anxiety trait (z = -6.49; p ≤ 0.001; η 2 = 0.030). Regarding age, higher values for the anxiety trait (p ≤ 0.001; η H 2 = 0.030) were found in the 18-34 years-old group compared to all the other age groups, also presenting significantly higher values of total energy expenditure (χ² = 13.93; p = 0.008; η H 2 = 0.007) when compared to the 35-44 years-old group. Significant differences were observed between the 18-34 years-old group and the other age groups for the satisfaction of competence (χ² = 40.97; p ≤ 0.001; η H 2 = 0.026), except for the &gt;65 years-old group. Strategies for promoting well-being during periods of social isolation should consider the role of psychological dimensions and lifestyle habits according to the gender or age group.</text>

Se trabajó por medio de cartas asociativas, fundamentadas en la asociación libre de palabras a partir de un término inductor, un cuestionario con preguntas abiertas y cerradas y entrevistas cualitativas a partir de la presentación de imágenes relacionadas con el cambio climático. Los resultados muestran que los universitarios poseen representaciones sociales del cambio climático que comprenden contenidos hegemónicos (referidos principalmente a los efectos y a las alternativas educativas para enfrentarlo), emancipados (que incorporan cuestiones relacionadas con las causas), y polémicos (presentan aspectos emocionales relacionados con el fenómeno).</text>

En este escrito se presentan los resultados de una investigación desarrollada con estudiantes de una escuela secundaria de la ciudad de México, con el objetivo de identificar las características de las dimensiones de las representaciones sociales del cambio climático. La perspectiva de investigación es interpretativa, corresponde a un estudio de caso utilizando como técnica la encuesta con tres instrumentos: cuestionarios de información, cartas asociativas y cuestionarios de actitudes. Entre los resultados obtenidos destaca la existencia del campo de información con elementos de las ciencias naturales y la presencia de actitudes en torno a las acciones favorables para disminuir el cambio climático. En una de las conclusiones obtenidas se resalta la importancia de construir estrategias educativas que incidan en una mejor comprensión de los problemas ambientales desde la educación básica.</text>

                <text>O objetivo deste trabalho é avaliar o impacto do programa de transferência de renda condicionada Bolsa Família sobre a frequência escolar de crianças e adolescentes de cinco a 14 anos na agricultura familiar dos estados de Pernambuco, Ceará, Sergipe e Paraíba. Nessa investigação, o trabalho faz uso de dados primários (pesquisa de campo) e dados secundários (PNAD, 2005) para obter estimativas de propensity score. Os resultados indicam que, de forma geral, o programa eleva a frequência escolar das referidas crianças no intervalo de 5,4 a 5,9 pontos percentuais. Contudo, há importantes diferenças quando se considera meninas e meninos separadamente, sendo o programa eficaz no primeiro caso e ineficaz no segundo. Ou seja, apesar da avaliação positiva para as meninas, não parece haver efeito do programa sobre a frequência escolar dos meninos, o que pode estar associado a diferenças de gênero nos custos de oportunidades do investimento em capital humano no meio rural.The main proposal of this study was to evaluate the impact of the Bolsa Família conditioned public cash transfer program on the school presence among the children and adolescents from five to 14 years, in the Brazilian states of Pernambuco, Ceará, Sergipe and Paraíba. The work uses both primary and secondary data (PNAD, 2005) to build two different control groups used for propensity score estimative matching with children from families that received income from the federal program. For all studied groups the impact of the Bolsa Família was positive, in other words, the results indicate that the program increases the school presence by 5,6 points. But the results still suggest there is difference between gender, with the program being effective for girls, but not for boys. This probably is related to the gender difference in the opportunity cost of human capital investment in Brazil rural northeast.</text>
