Foi utilizado o delineamento experimental em blocos casualizados, com 3 repetições. A cultura foi mantida na presença das plantas daninhas de folha larga por diferentes períodos. O período crítico determinado foi de 21 a 30 dias após a emergência da cultura, segundo ajuste dos dados de produtividade ao modelo Broken-Stick. No entanto, o período crítico determinado indica que o controle das plantas daninhas pode ser realizado, uma única vez, através do uso de método momentâneo, sem efeito residual.This research is in support of weed management programs. A field experiment was carried out in Botucatu (São Paulo, Brazil), with the objective to determine the critical period of broadleaf weed interference on soybean, using statistical procedures of regression analysis. A randomized block design was used with 3 replications. The crop was kept weed infcsted for different periods. The criticar period of weed interference determined by the Broken-Stick modo was between 21-30 days after crop emergence. Broadleaf weeds in soybeanel crops can be controled with single use of remedial methods without residual effect. El índice se aplicó a la microcuenca andina tropical el Chocho ubicada en el Departamento del Valle del Cauca en Colombia. Con la aplicación del índice ICC en esta microcuenca se evidenció el alto nivel de vulnerabilidad de esta microcuenca en la zona baja, media y alta. The study used a Ricardian analysis of 2300 farms to explore the effects of global warming on land values. In order to predict climate change impacts for this century, were examined climate change scenarios predicted by three Atmospheric Oceanic General Circulation Models (AOGCM): the Canadian Climate Center (CCC), the Centre for Climate System Research (CCSR), and the Parallel Climate Model (PCM) models. Several econometric specifications were tested, and five separate regressions were run: for all farms, small household farms, large commercial farms, rainfed farms, and irrigated farms. Farmland values will decrease as temperature increases, but also as rainfall increases except for the case of irrigated farms. Under the severe Canadian Climate Center (CCC) scenario, South American farmers will lose on average 14% of their income by the year 2020, 20% by 2060, and 53% by 2100, but half of these estimates under the less severe Centre for Climate System Research (CCSR) scenario. However, farms will lose only small amounts of income under the mild and wet Parallel Climate Model (PCM) scenario. Both small household farms and large commercial farms are highly vulnerable, but small farms are more vulnerable to warming, while large farms are more vulnerable to rainfall increases. Both rainfed and irrigated farms will lose their incomes by more than 50% by 2100, with slightly more severe damage to irrigated farms, but the subsample analysis treats irrigation as exogenousEn este estudio se estimó el impacto del cambio climático sobre la agricultura de Sudamérica considerando la adaptación de los predios. Viroletti Description An account of the resource La vegetación natural es la única fuente forrajera en las regiones marginales a la agricultura las que por lo general han sido pastoreadas 'con cargas que superan su receptividad y como consecuencia, se observa una marcada tendencia de degradación. En la región semiárida central Argentina, el área del caldenal ha concentrado desde principios de siglo la mayor actividad ganadera. Este sistema ha sufrido diferentes procesos de disturbio, resultante de los diferentes entre factores biológicos y ambientales; entre ellos el sobrepastoreo y la falta de fuegos que produjeron cambios importantes en la composición florística, estructura de las comunidades así como también en su funcionamiento. El pastoreo se presenta normalmente como uno de los factores que posee mayor influencia sobre la diversidad y la riqueza especifica de la comunidad. El grado de uso es un elemento de gran importancia para la recuperación y manejo de las comunidades degradadas por acción del pastoreo y constituye uno de los interrogantes a resolver para los sistemas de esta región. La finalidad de este trabajo es evaluar la relación existente entre los indicadores físicos del grado de uso, con la diversidad florística y la proporción de especies indeseables. El objetivo de este trabajo es evaluar a lo largo de un gradiente de grado de uso la composición y abundancia específica, la densidad y tamaño de las especies forrajeras, la compactación del suelo, la densidad de deyecciones sólidas, la profundidad de enterrado de las yemas de las especies forrajeras en distintas situaciones de uso para un área del caldenal. Los resultados encontrados muestran una estrecha relación entre la proporción de las especies indeseables con el grado de compactación del suelo, con la densidad de leñosas y con la proporción de Poa ligularis - Piptochaetium napostense. Salazar Description An account of the resource Una vía para abordar la seguridad alimentaria y producción de piensos es a través de la cría de insectos que exhiben una pequeña huella ecológica, tasas elevadas de crecimiento y reproducción, niveles altos de proteínas, grasas y minerales. Cuarenta cuyes en crecimiento se alimentaron para evaluar los efectos de dietas isonitrogenadas e isoenergéticas en las que se sustituyeron diferentes proporciones de harina de soja (0%, 16%, 32% y 50%) con Harina de Hermetia illucens evaluando consumo de alimento/día (g/día), consumo total de alimento (g), peso corporal final (g), aumento de peso total (g) e índice de conversión alimenticia. El ensayo se condujo en un Análisis de Varianza de medidas repetidas con corrección de Greennhouse-Geisser. La Proteína Cruda en harina de larva de Hermetia illucens fue de 42,16 ± 3,67% (materia seca), en reemplazo de harina de soja no mostró diferencia estadísticamente significativa entre la ganancia de peso diaria y el peso corporal. El remplazo de 32% presentó un mayor consumo diario: 49,05 ± 0,69 g, consumo total: 1717 ± 24,32 g y conversión alimenticia 3,22 ± 0,07. Incorporar harina de larva de Hermetia illucens al 16% del requerimiento proteico en alimentación de Cavia porcellus mostró una ingesta de alimento por día de 34,57 ± 0,56 y mejor conversión alimenticia, 2,50 ± 0,04. La harina de larva de Hermetia illucens es un excelente sustituto proteico de alta calidad que satisface los requerimientos nutricionales con menor cantidad de alimento en cuyes. Estos hallazgos brindan información sobre el potencial de la harina de Hermetia illucens como una fuente alternativa adecuada de harina de soja para la alimentación de cuyes. Esto además es especialmente crítico en las cuencas del arco mediterráneo español, dado que actualmente ya presentan un alto estrés hídrico y fuertes alteraciones antrópicas de su régimen. El caso de estudio es el de la Rambla de la Viuda. Dentro de la misma se encuentran los embalses de Mª. Cristina y Alcora, el primero de ellos con problemas de aterramiento y probable infra-dimensionamiento de su aliviadero, por lo que es prioritario el conocimiento de lo que pueda ocurrir con este embalse en el futuro. Los posibles efectos del Cambio Climático en la cuenca de la Rambla de la Viuda se han estimado utilizando el modelo hidrológico distribuido TETIS y su sub-modelo de sedimentos activado. La información meteorológica empleada proviene de escenarios climáticos regionalizados acordes con el quinto informe AR5 del IPCC, información que tuvo que ser corregida debido a errores relacionados con su resolución y/o hipótesis de regionalización. Los resultados de la modelización indican que en lo que respecta al clima, no hay una señal clara de cambios en la precipitación, tanto en cantidad como en torrencialidad, aunque si es evidente el futuro aumento de temperaturas que se traducirá en un incremento de la evapotranspiración de referencia. Tras la modelización, dicho incremento da lugar a una reducción de los recursos disponibles, tanto superficiales como subterráneos, pero al mismo tiempo a una disminución en los cuantiles de crecida, por lo que consecuentemente cabe esperar también en el futuro una disminución de los aportes de sedimentos al embalse de Mª Cristina. They are known to have a wide range of physical, economic, environmental and social impacts. Apart from damages to the physical environment, many climate risks (climate variability, extreme events and climate-related hazards) are associated with a variety of impacts on human well-being, health, and life-supporting systems. These vary from boosting the proliferation of vectors of diseases (e.g., mosquitos), to mental problems triggered by damage to properties and infrastructure. There is a great variety of literature about the strong links between climate change and health, while there is relatively less literature that specifically examines the health impacts of climate risks and extreme events. This paper is an attempt to address this knowledge gap, by compiling eight examples from a set of industrialised and developing countries, where such interactions are described. The policy implications of these phenomena and the lessons learned from the examples provided are summarised. Some suggestions as to how to avert the potential and real health impacts of climate risks are made, hence assisting efforts to adapt to a problem whose impacts affect millions of people around the world. All the examples studied show some degree of vulnerability to climate risks regardless of their socioeconomic status and need to increase resilience against extreme events.
