Hierarchical analysis of existing problems at Honey Production the State of ParaíbaAbstract: Honey production is one of the productive activities that provide great opportunities for family farmers in the Northeast, providing economic and social development of those engaged in this activity. But it is an activity that represents some obstacles during production, generating losses and product unfit for consumption. Based on that, this research aims to analyze the existing problems in the honey production in the state of Paraiba. As for the methodological procedures, was initially done a literature review to identify problems of honey production reported in the literature, then semi-structured interviews were conducted with specialists working in Paraiba beekeeping and listed the problems encountered in the production of honey in the state. This list has been validated by the interviewees. For the ranking of the problems we used the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP). The survey results show that among the steps of the production process maintenance is the step that has more impact in the process, and that the major problems existing in Paraiba beekeeping are the proximity of the apiary to livestock and horse, the lack of management of supers, lack of hygiene during honey processing process, lack of flowering calendar and the poor location of the apiary.</text>

<text>Bovine leukemia virus (BLV) was investigated in the central nervous system (CNS) of cattle with neurological syndrome. A total of 269 CNS samples were submitted to nested-PCR (BLV env gene gp51), and the viral genotypes were identified. The nested-PCR was positive in 4.8% (13/269) CNS samples, with 2.7% (2/74) presenting at histological examination lesions of nonpurulent meningoencephalitis (NPME), whereas 5.6% (11/195) not presenting NPME (P>0.05). No samples presented lymphosarcoma. The PCR products (437 bp) were sequenced and submitted to phylogenetic analysis by neighbor-joining and maximum composite likelihood methods, and genotypes 1, 5, and 6 were detected, corroborating other South American studies. The genotype 6 barely described in Brazil and Argentina was more frequently detected in this study. The identity matrices showed maximum similarity (100%) among some samples of this study and one from Argentina (FJ808582), recovered from GenBank. There was no association among the genotypes and NPME lesions.</text>

<text>Marine zooplankton research in Brazil has been primarily descriptive, with most studies focusing on community structure analysis and related issues. The composition and spatial distribution of several taxonomic groups are currently well known, although less-abundant and small-sized taxa as well as initial stages of almost all species have received little attention. Some numerically important taxa such as heterotrophic protists, ctenophores, acoel turbellarians and ostracods remain virtually unstudied. Large sectors of the continental shelf have not been sampled in detail, particularly those areas influenced by the North Brazil Current (5ºN-15ºS). Zooplankton abundance and biomass in offshore waters have seldom been quantified, and information on the distribution and vertical migration of meso- and bathypelagic species are lacking. Additional faunistic assessments must target those less-studied taxa and geographical locations. However, priority in ecological studies should be given to process-oriented investigations aimed at understanding the mechanisms controlling zooplankton distribution, trophic interactions within pelagic food webs and production cycles in relation to the physical environment. An effort should be made to incorporate state-of-the-art sampling technology and analytical methods into future research projects.
