Las áreas de humedal ocupan casi el 5 % del territorio de la Patagonia argentina. En la zona extrandina y el desierto patagónico estos ecosistemas son esenciales para sostener numerosas especies de fauna y flora silvestre. Además, los humedales del norte patagónico permiten el desarrollo de comunidades acuáticas complejas y constituyen el hábitat crítico de grupos de organismos como los peces y los anfibios incluidos en listados de conservación prioritaria. Estos ecosistemas tienen un funcionamiento complejo que depende estrechamente de las fluctuaciones de las variables meteorológicas y son por lo tanto muy sensibles a los efectos del cambio climático. En la actualidad el uso de la tierra, la introducción de especies y la interacción de estos aspectos con el cambio climático constituyen las variables de mayor impacto sobre estos ambientes patagónicos. En este trabajo se presenta información geográfica, geomorfológica y climática de un número de humedales del norte de la Patagonia argentina. Por otra parte, se sintetiza información sobre la flora y la distribución de peces y anfibios con el propósito de enfatizar la importancia de estos ambientes en el mantenimiento de la biodiversidad regional. Por último, se señalan los procesos que actualmente afectan a estos sistemas poniendo en evidencia la necesidad de obtención de conocimientos básicos para el diseño de planes de manejo y conservación de sus comunidades biológicasAlmost 5 % of the lansdscape of Patagonia is occupied by wetlands. In the extra-andean region and the patagonian desert, wetlands are essential for sustaining biodiversity and wildlife. Besides, North patagonian wetlands present complex aquatic communities and provide habitat for threatened species of fishes and amphibians. These ecosystems have complex dynamics mostly driven by climatic fluctuations which make them vulnerable to the effect of climate change. Nowadays, the main impact on patagonian wetland is due to land use, species introduction, and the interaction of these disturbances with climate change. In this paper we summarize geographic, geomorphological and climatic information of several wetlands located in North Patagonia (Argentina). Besides, we present information on aquatic vegetation, fish and amphibian fauna distributions and endemisms with the aim of emphasizing the importance of wetlands to sustain regional biodiversity. Finally, we highlight the processes impacting wetlands at present time and point out the importance of obtaining basic information for management and conservation strategies

Esto ha sido así a pesar de una demanda asimétrica de acción climática por parte de los Estados miembros y de la complejidad que conlleva la acción cooperativa internacional. Los hechos muestran un liderazgo direccional por parte de la UE en determinados momentos y en algunos aspectos de las negociaciones climáticas. No obstante, tanto factores internos como externos, incluyendo el peso económico y político de otros grandes contaminadores, han relegado a la UE a un segundo plano, por ejemplo en la CdP15*. El presente estudio trata de abordar cuales son los aspectos educomunicativos extraídos de Jóvenes Frente el Cambio Climático (JFCC), un proyecto transmedia e interactivo que comporta una doble perspectiva: educar en medios de comunicación y educar con los medios. Partiendo del supuesto de que JFCC es un proyecto con un gran potencial educomunicativo, y de cara a evaluar los valores añadidos del mismo, basamos nuestra metodología en el análisis descriptivo-cualitativo de la plataforma web así como en el uso de la entrevista. The educational potential of the digital narratives in the communication for social change. Youth Against Climate Change as a case study. Abstract Digital narratives, thanks to their intrinsic characteristics, are opening fields of interest in topics that require commitment and social action. Climate change, due to its global dimensions, requires a new form of citizen action so that the new generations are challenged to take innovative action. The present study aims at addressing the edu-communication aspects of Youth Against Climate Change, a transmedia and interactive project characterised by a double perspective: education in communication media and education with media. Assuming that JFCC is a project with a high edu-communicative potential, and in order to assess its added value, we base our methodology on the descriptive and qualitative analysis of the web platform as well as interviews. The influence of boron, tungsten and molybdenum modifiers on zirconia-based Pt catalyst was studied for glycerol valorization. Zirconia modified supports were prepared by impregnation of ZrO2 with either boric, silicontungstic or phosphomolybdic acids to obtain supports with enhanced Brönsted acidic properties. The modified supports were subsequently impregnated with chloroplatinic acid to obtain Pt-based catalysts. Pt incorporation resulted in the increase in Lewis acidity of the solids, being more significant for the Pt//W/ZrO2 catalyst. Reduced Pt catalysts were tested for the liquid-phase glycerol hydrogenolysis, observing a synergistic effect between catalyst acid sites and metal function that proved to be crucial in glycerol hydrogenolysis. The Pt//W/ZrO2 catalyst was the most active catalyst in this reaction, being the only leading to 1,3-PDO (45% sel., 160 °C) while Pt//Mo/ZrO2 is the best option for 1,2-PDO (49% sel., 180 °C). Reusability studies carried out for Pt//W/ZrO2 showed that catalytic activity dropped after the first use, remaining constant for the second and subsequent ones. Selectivity to reaction products also changes during reuses. Therefore, the selectivity to 1,2 PDO increases in the first reuse in detriment to the selectivity to n-propanol whereas the selectivity to 1,3-PDO remains constant along the uses. This behavior could be associated to the lixiviation of W species and/or catalyst fouling during reaction runs.

En el departamento del Valle del Cauca, la distribución de Bosque Seco Tropical (BsT) se ha asociado al valle geográfico del río Cauca ubicado en la zona plana. Actualmente en esta zona, su cobertura se ha reducido a pocos relictos que se encuentran bajo alguna figura de conservación y mantienen áreas representativas de las formaciones vegetales sssstípicas de este bioma. Este trabajo se enfocó en el reconocimiento de la distribución espacial de formaciones vegetales de BsT en el departamento del Valle del Cauca. Se empleó información cartográfica secundaria para reconocer los biomas, ecosistemas y usos del suelo del área de estudio y en zonas adyacentes del piedemonte y montañas. Un modelo digital de elevaciones fue utilizado para realizar análisis altitudinales. En un sistema de información geográfico se aplicaron técnicas de geoprocesamiento y análisis geoespacial entre la información cartográfica y satelital. Los resultados evidencian que pese al avanzado deterioro de las coberturas de bosque seco en la zona plana, alrededor del 80 % se localiza en ecosistemas de montaña, específicamente en zonas de transición hacia bosques húmedos. A futuro, el potencial de estas áreas deberá evaluarse para ser incluidas en estrategias de conservación y restauración del bosque seco así como en el diseño de procesos adaptativos frente al cambio climático.

La problemática climática y medioambiental se perfila cada vez más como un reto para las ciudades, especialmente para aquellas donde está dándose un rápido proceso de urbanización y crecimiento poblacional. El análisis de su estado de situación es mejor entendido a partir de estudios metabólicos de la entrada y salida de flujos de materiales y de energía. Este tipo de evaluaciones se han realizado para diversas ciudades y para distintos aspectos, pero en América Latina están prácticamente ausentes. Este trabajo abre con una presentación general sobre el estado de situación de las ciudades latinoamericanas y con una introducción a las evaluaciones metabólicas para ofrecer una primera aproximación integral comparativa de los flujos de entrada y salida de las megaurbes latinoamericanas, esto es, de la Ciudad de México, Sao Paulo, Río de Janeiro y Buenos Aires. Se presentan las principales características de los planes de acción frente al cambio climático para cerrar con un breve análisis comparativo entre las acciones de mitigación y las dinámicas metabólicas existentes. Se concluye con una reflexión y sugerencias en torno al futuro urbano, los retos venideros y las oportunidades posibles.

Dust emissions from unpaved roads are one of the main pollutants affecting air quality around the world. As part of initial air quality studies in Tuxtla Gutiérrez (TGZ), Chiapas, Mexico, urban aeolian emission events from unpaved roads and simple meteorological inputs were measured in February 2014 at two different sites located within the city to characterize emissions for representative road conditions and to produce Industrial Source Complex (ISC3) model inputs. Emissions of particulate matter of aerodynamic diameter less than 10 µm (PM10) were determined for eight wind erosion events. PM10 concentrations were measured downwind from sites using a Minivol sampler during February and March 2014. Three high PM10 concentration scenarios, associated with unstable conditions generated by cold fronts (CF) were selected to simulate dust plume dispersion to identify impacted areas. Results show that unpaved roads represent a potential source of dust that affect air quality of urban regions; in this study generating emissions ≥ 1.92 × 10−3 g·m−2·s−1 when winds ≥6 m·s−1 were present. Air pollution events that exceed the Mexico national standard for 24-h average PM10 concentration (≥75 µg·m−3) were observed, impacting different areas in the city, representing a risk to human health. This demonstrates the influence of CF over southern Mexico, generating high PM10 concentrations in urban regions.

El cambio climático es uno de los principales desafíos globales enfrentados por la humanidad y en las últimas décadas se volvió una cuestión relevante en la agenda internacional. En 1992, se creó la Convención Marco de las Naciones Unidas sobre el Cambio Climático (CMNUCC), cuya actividad incluye respuestas de mitigación y adaptación. Actualmente, ambas son consideradas igualmente importantes, pero la adaptación fue históricamente marginalizada de la Convención. En este artículo se presenta la trayectoria de la adaptación como pauta en la CMNUCC, se debate su evolución institucional y los mecanismos de financiamiento de la Convención. Por último, se explora la relación entre adaptación y desarrollo. Las conclusiones apuntan hacia la insuficiencia de la CMNUCC en la implementación de medidas de la adaptación al cambio climático, pero destaca su papel relevante en el debate, como fuente de financiamiento, y también como inductora de acciones nacionales y subnacionales, especialmente en los países en desarrollo.

Las ciudades son actualmente el principal biotopo del Hombre, consumen espacios cada vez másimportantes, son muy artificiales y dejan poco espacio para la naturaleza. Por una preocupaciónambiental y la necesidad experimentada por los ciudadanos, los actores territoriales implementannuevas políticas, estrategias para reintegrar a la naturaleza en las ciudades. El interés es doble: ambiental (calentamiento global, la lucha contra la contaminación) y social (ciudades minerales,la fuerte demanda de espacios de ocio). ¿Cómo conciliar estas puestas, la presión de los actores yde la población? En este estudio, vamos a estudiar dos políticas territoriales de grandes metrópolisfrancesas, vamos a analizar y criticar: las metrópolis de Lille y Lyon. Estas dos metrópolis handesarrollado políticas de trama verde y azul (en el sentido del Grenelle del Medio Ambiente) yvamos a poner de realce las realizaciones concretas en el terreno muy diversas de estas políticas(parques urbanos, espacios de ocio y de descanso, corredores ecológicos). Nuestro estudio decaso pone en evidencia los resultados matizados. Para la metrópoli de Lille, los objetivos padecenpero las operaciones han sido realizadas en periferia. Para la metrópoli de Lyon, la trama verde yazul es bien en el centro denso de la ciudad pero el aspecto medioambiental ha sido borrado, enprovecho de la demanda social de espacios recreativos.
