                <text>Currently, in the context of the global transition of the world education system to the remote format, it has become vitally important for a person to be able and ready to independently organise his/her educational and professional activities. The article considers methodological approaches to self-education in the context of its use in the process of lifelong learning/ continuous education. The authors discuss the existing concepts of self-education and ways of its organisation, taking into account age-specific features, forms and types of learning. The concepts of ‘self-organisation’ and ‘self-education’ are analysed. The essence of the scientific categories ‘self-learning’ and ‘self-organisation in education’ is revealed in relation to the system of higher education. The role of tutors as mediators in student self-organisation is shown and their main functions in this process are described. Based on a theoretical analysis of existing forms of self-organisation in education and the experience of using self-organisation, various directions and possibilities of their application in practice are delineated. Careful consideration is given to criticism of the use of self-organisation in learning and its advantages. The authors also discuss the prospects of using self-organisation in higher education, emphasising the importance and relevance of developing self-organisation as a student’s personality trait. A description is made of learning models based on self-organisation of students. Finally, the experience of implementing the self-organisation approach to the educational process is analysed. As a result of the study, the authors conclude that self-learning can be successful if it seems socially significant for students. The use of advanced digital technologies and Internet resources can also contribute to effective self-learning. The results of the study indicate that students should develop the ability to independently organise their educational activities as well as self-control/self-assessment skills, which is especially important in connection with the increase in independent work in curricula and the massive transition to the remote format in higher education during the COVID-19 pandemic.</text>

                <text>The aggregation of amyloid-β (Aβ) peptide and its deposition in parts of the brain form the central processes in the etiology of Alzheimer disease (AD). The low-molecular weight oligomers of Aβ aggregates (2 to 30 mers) are known to be the primary neurotoxic agents whose mechanisms of cellular toxicity and synaptic dysfunction have received substantial attention in the recent years. However, how these toxic agents proliferate and induce widespread amyloid deposition throughout the brain, and what mechanism is involved in the amplification and propagation of toxic oligomer species, are far from clear. Emerging evidence based on transgenic mice models indicates a transmissible nature of Aβ aggregates and implicates a prion-like mechanism of oligomer propagation, which manifests as the dissemination and proliferation of Aβ toxicity. Despite accumulating evidence in support of a transmissible nature of Aβ aggregates, a clear, molecular-level understanding of this intriguing mechanism is lacking. Recently, we reported the characterization of unique replicating oligomers of Aβ42 (12-24 mers) in vitro called Large Fatty Acid-derived Oligomers (LFAOs) (Kumar et al., 2012, J. Biol. Chem). In the current report, we establish that LFAOs possess physiological activity by activating NF-κB in human neuroblastoma cells, and determine the experimental parameters that control the efficiency of LFAO replication by self-propagation. These findings constitute the first detailed report on monomer - oligomer lateral propagation reactions that may constitute potential mechanism governing transmissibility among Aβ oligomers. These data support the previous reports on transmissible mechanisms observed in transgenic animal models.</text>

                <text>Handwashing and surface cleaning and disinfection are two hygiene behaviors promoted to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Persons with disabilities may be at increased risk for severe COVID-19 illness due to underlying medical conditions that have been associated with COVID-19. This study aims to describe self-reported hygiene behaviors among U.S. adults with disabilities to prevent transmission of COVID-19. Data were obtained from the March 2020 Porter Novelli ConsumerStyles survey. This study includes 6463 U.S. adults (≥18 years) who participated in the survey (58.2% response rate). Participants were asked about frequent handwashing and surface disinfection. Participants were also asked six questions to assess disability status and disability type. Prevalence estimates with 95% confidence intervals were calculated; chi-square tests were conducted. A total of 1295 (20.3%) of survey participants reported at least one disability and their hygiene-related behavior. Overall, 91.3% of respondents with disabilities reported frequent handwashing; only 72% reported frequent surface disinfection. Those with hearing, vision, cognition, mobility, self-care, and independent living disabilities (range: 77.9%-90.6%) were significantly less likely than those without any disability (94.0%) to report frequent handwashing. People with vision (62.2%) and independent living (66.8%) disabilities were less likely to report frequent surface disinfection than those without any disability (74.6%). Practices such as handwashing and disinfecting surfaces are effective for reducing and preventing the spread of COVID-19. Promotion of hygiene-related practices among people with disabilities is essential. Tailored communications and implementation of evidence-based strategies are needed to address hygiene-related behaviors among the subgroups of people with disabilities most affected.</text>

El objetivo del estudio es valorar la intensidad del sellado de suelo como medida de la fragmentación ecológica, y con la finalidad de aportar algunas medidas que pudieran mejorar la conectividad ecológica a diferentes escalas en Madrid (España). Se utiliza una metodología fácilmente actualizable y gratuita, mediante el libre acceso a las imágenes satelitales Sentinel y a diversas fuentes cartográficas. En 2018, la conurbación de Madrid ya consumió de media el 18,5 % del suelo, con grandes variaciones espaciales (13,33 % al N y 41,41 % al S), por lo que las propuestas de mitigación deberán ser también dispares.</text>

                <text>Este trabajo tiene como objetivo estudiar los procesos de formación alternativa con énfasis en la producción sostenible, que se ejecutaron en comunidades rurales indígenas y afrodescendientes en Colombia, Ecuador y Perú, durante el periodo 2005-2015. La muestra la componen 250 productores y 15 monitores, quienes participaron en Escuelas de Campo y Centro de Formación Familiar por Alternancia. Se aplica el método cualitativo, apoyado en la etnografía y el análisis de datos obtenidos, que han sido recogidos en talleres participativos, y durante la ejecución de observaciones comunicativas. Como resultado se identifica la evolución del estado de desarrollo agroecológico en las zonas de intervención. Se concluye que el diálogo horizontal y la experiencia vivencial son las prácticas más eficientes para trabajar con población rural. Mientras que los factores edad de los participantes, acceso a los recursos productivos, y el costo beneficio que representa una técnica agroecológica, son relevantes para avanzar hacia transformación productiva sostenible.</text>

                <text>O Centro de Incubação de Empreendimentos Populares Solidários (Cieps) vem desenvolvendo ações voltadas para a agricultura familiar dentro de uma perspectiva agroecológica. Torna-se importante o debate e a disseminação de saberes a respeito das Sementes Crioulas, as quais podem ser utilizadas para proporcionar maior autonomia aos agricultores familiares e assentados da reforma agrária, frente ao contexto de agricultura tecnificada e empresarial que os circunda. Assim, esse relato apresentou a experiência de uma Roda de Conversa que teve como objetivo principal a socialização de saberes e troca de experiências sobre Sementes Crioulas. A Roda de Conversa ocorreu durante a V Jornada Universitária em Defesa da Reforma Agrária em 2019, na Universidade Federal de Uberlândia. Foram apresentados alguns pontos para discussão e relatos dos participantes subdivididos nos seguintes temas: independência produtiva; preservação genética; e iniciando um banco de sementes. Trazer o tema para ser discutido com agricultores familiares e assentados da reforma agrária, em tempos de dominância consolidada dos pacotes tecnológicos recomendados pelo mercado convencional e muitas vezes inacessível ao produtor, contribui para que esses produtores viabilizem suas atividades agrícolas e possibilitem o desenvolvimento econômico social de forma independente.</text>

                <text>O presente estudo analisou o estado da arte das sementes tradicionais, crioulas ou landraces no estado do Rio Grande do Sul. Através de uma amostragem não probabilística, foi realizado um estudo etnográfico em 13 propriedades de oito municípios pertencentes às regiões da Grande Porto Alegre, Serra, Planalto Médio, Depressão Central e Serra do Sudeste. A pesquisa diagnosticou uma grande diversidade de plantas cultivadas de origem remota, mantidas nas propriedades dos agricultores tradicionais através de bancos de sementes. Ao todo, foram identificadas 39 espécies de plantas, distribuídas em 12 famílias botânicas, totalizando 258 apontamentos de plantas cultivadas crioulas no total dos entrevistados. A preferência da utilização de sementes crioulas, de acordo com relatos dos agricultores entrevistados, foi atribuída principalmente a características como a adaptabilidade, valorização dos costumes, o sabor e qualidade das variedades tradicionais, além do baixo custo de produção. Em relação às dificuldades de sua manutenção, as mais freqüentes foram o desinteresse das novas gerações e a dificuldade em trocar e obter sementes. Foram, ainda, diagnosticadas estratégias de manutenção de variedades tradicionais desenvolvidas nas diferentes regiões como alternativas à conservação.This study investigated the state of the art of traditional, or landrace seeds in the State of Rio Grande do Sul. An ethnographic study was carried out by means of a non-statistical seed sampling in 13 farms from eight municipalities lying in the regions of the Greater Porto Alegre, Serra, Planalto Médio, Depressão Central and Serra do Sudeste. A broad diversity of ancient plants was observed. These species survive in the farms with the help of a seed bank. All in all, 39 plant species were characterized, distributed in 12 families, totaling 258 instances of landrace seeds grown in the farms visited. According to the farmers, the preference for landrace seeds is due chiefly to seed adaptability, better flavor and quality of the produce grown therefrom, valuablezation of customs and lower production costs. As regards seed upkeep, the most common difficulties mentioned were the lack of interest by the younger generations, and the obstacles in swapping and obtaining seeds. Alternatives to the upkeep of traditional seeds developed in different zones were also discussed as choices to plant conservation.</text>

                <text>Abstract Background Following COVID-19 pandemic, clinical description focused on the clinical presentation of patients in the acute stage of the disease. More recently, data have emerged that some patients continue to experience symptoms related to COVID-19 after the acute phase of infection has subsided (post-COVID syndrome). Although characteristics of post-COVID syndrome have been well described, less is known about the possible invitations during acute illnesses that can predict such syndrome. Our study is a prospective study aiming at assessment of CT severity scoring in the acute phase of COVID-19 pneumonia as a predictor for development of post-COVID syndrome in recovering patients. Results A total of 192 symptomatic COVID-19 patients between April 2020 and October 2020 were enrolled in this single-center study, and high-resolution chest CT examinations were evaluated for CT severity scoring. Data were matched with the long-term clinical outcome. CT severity score was significantly higher in patients who developed post-COVID symptoms (p  7 was associated with an increased risk and was found to be predictive of condition development with sensitivity (95.9%), specificity (96%), positive predictive value (95.92%), negative predictive value (96%), and accuracy (95.96%). E 100, 012503 (2019)], in the regime whenever 3ℓ/ℓp&amp;gt;1, where ℓp is the persistence length. The cases of a semiflexible polymer enclosed in a cube and sphere are considered. In these cases, we explore the Spakowitz–Wang–type polymer shape transition, where the critical persistence length distinguishes between an oscillating and a monotonic phase at the level of the mean-square end-to-end distance. This shape transition provides evidence of a universal signature of the behavior of a semiflexible polymer confined in a compact domain.</text>
