<text>Data from geomorphological surveys of the Konyukhov Bay coast (north-western part of Onezhsky Peninsula), radiocarbon dating of organogenic sediments, echo sounding of water areas of the bay and lakes (water lines at 15.8-26.1 m a. s. l.) performed during thevoyage of the research vessel 'Ecolog' in July 2014 were used to reconstruct the history of the landform development in the Holocene. The morphodynamics of the coast is considered as a result of interactions between coastal processes and the underlying litho- genic structure against the background of postglacial movements and climate change. Two geomorphological levels were distinguished and dated, which differ in the scope of transformation of ice-marginal formations of the Neva stage of the last glaciation by the sea and correspond to the main stages of post-glacial development of the relief: 1) paleo- straits and bays in depressions between moraine ridges at altitudes of 17.5-30 m a. s. l., filled in during the post-glacial transgression; the basinal stage of their development ended no later than 8540 ± 50 - 7610 ± 70 14C (~9500-8400 cal.) BP; 2) marine terraces at altitudes below 15-17 m a. s. l., formed in the middle-late Holocene in the environments similar to modern ones. The abrasion coastline (14-17.5 m) formed during the sea level stabilization stage with its high wave activity, which took place during the Tapes transgression, was revealed. Bays at the upper level, with a threshold runoff below ~ 17.5 m a. s. l., were at that time re-filled with sea water. The relative uplift rate of the Konyukhov Bay coast was estimated according to the ages of the lower horizon of lacustrine and palus- trine sediments at 2-2.2 mm/year.</text>

<text>The 'road capacity' of the Chilean Master Plan is a tool developed to measure the capacity of streets in terms of supporting the size of vehicle flow. This tool considers topics such as land use, population density and street width. The purpose of this technique is to incorporate it to the Master Plan, as a town planning instrument, so as to cope with traffic forecasting and congestion. However, the technique does not embrace any sustainability concept, this is due to a disregard of any district ´s social or environmental needs. Therefore a sustainable urban development would doubtfully be reached. It is argued that some other approaches are required for shaping a sustainable built environment in which it is understood that the streets are a public space for people rather than a platform for moving vehicles only. This means, to promote accessibility as well as mobility.

The study of the aboveground biomass (AB) of tropical forests is fundamental to understand the balance of the global C in the context of the climatic change. We quantified the AB in a mature forest of Salero (Chocó Biogeográfico), by means of equations designed for tropical humid forests, starting from data of wooden density, diameter (D) and height of trees (with D = 10 cm) measured in two permanent sub-parcels (E and U) of 1 hectare (ha), which were measured in the years 1998, 2005 and 2008. Inthis years the AB was of 237.31 t·ha-1, 259.99 t·ha-1 and 217.97 t·ha-1 respectively in the E sub-parcel. While in the U it was of 178.94 t·ha-1 and 179.17 t·ha-1 in the years 2005 and 2008; the differences of the aboveground biomass through the time were not significant. The increments annual averages in survivors' BA were of 4.42 and 3.18 t·ha-1 year-1 in the E and U sub-parcels respectively. Also, in sub-parcel E under conditions imperturbadas, the rate of net increment was presented in the AB (TINBA) of 2.61 t·ha-1 year-1, in agreement with the hypothesis of the increment in the BA in the tropical humid forests. The PPNA of carbon in Salero was of 5.21 t·ha-1 year-1, therefore the results didn't support the hypothesis of the decrease in the productivity of the tropical forests with the increment in the precipitation.</text>

This study objectified indicate field beans (Phaseolus vulgaris) cultivars that have better performance in organic system, besides to show that the optimum sustainable yield, that can be managed by organic agriculture can be close to potential yield managed by the conventional agriculture. Two experiments were established during the year 2003, one under irrigation system in the dry season and the other in the wet season, in an area with brachiaria pasture with low fertility, the same situation of growers who choose to join the organic system without the necessity of passing through the conversion period, using areas that have been in rest for few years or pastures that doesn't have pesticides or soluble fertilizers aplications. In the subsequent year, the same experiments were established in other area with corrected and equilibrated fertility, the same situation of the growers fitted in the organic activity. A randomized complete block design with four replications was used. It was evaluated the cultivars Diamante Negro, Talismã, Xamego, Marfim, Jalo Precoce, Pérola, Timbó, Radiante, Aporé, Valente and Vereda The best performing cultivars were from 'black' and 'carioca' commercial groups, which are the most demanded types in the region of the State of Distrito Federal.</text>
