                <text>Objetivando-se o aproveitamento do efluente de biodigestor no cultivo hidropônico do meloeiro, desenvolveu-se a presente pesquisa. O experimento foi conduzido no Departamento de Engenharia Rural da Faculdade de Ciências Agrárias e Veterinárias da UNESP, campus de Jaboticabal, cultivando-se o meloeiro (Cucumis melo L. cv. Bonus n&amp;ordm; 2). O delineamento experimental utilizado foi em blocos casualisados, com 6 repetições, cujos tratamentos foram: 1) cultivo hidropônico em sistema fechado tipo NFT ('nutrient film technique') com uso de solução nutritiva organo-mineral (biofertilizante com complementação mineral); 2) cultivo hidropônico em sistema fechado tipo NFT, com uso de solução nutritiva 100% mineral; 3) cultivo hidropônico em sistema aberto, com substrato e solução nutritiva organo-mineral e 4) cultivo hidropônico em sistema aberto, com substrato e solução nutritiva 100% mineral. O biofertilizante e o substrato foram obtidos a partir do efluente de biodigestor, produzido com estrume bovino. As plantas cultivadas no tratamento 1 tiveram desenvolvimento prejudicado, devido ao acúmulo de partículas sólidas junto ao sistema radicular. O tratamento 2 proporcionou às plantas desenvolvimento vegetativo mais rápido e maior produtividade. Os frutos produzidos no tratamento 2 apresentaram maior peso, formato mais alongado e maior teor de sólidos solúveis totais. A substituição parcial de adubos minerais por biofertilizante mostrou-se possível em sistema hidropônico aberto com substrato.With the objective to use effluent of biodigestor in the hydroponic cultivation, an experiment was conducted in the Department of Rural Engineering Faculty of Agricultural and Veterenary Sciences of UNESP, campus of Jaboticabal where a melon crop (Cucumis melo L. cv. Bonus n&amp;ordm; 2) was cultivated. The experimental design used was a randomized blocks, with 6 repetitions and the treatments studied were: 1) hydroponic cultivation in closed system type NFT (nutrient film technique) with use of organic-mineral nutrient solution (biofertilizer with mineral complementation); 2) hydroponic cultivation in closed system type NFT with use of 100% mineral solution; 3) hydroponic cultivation in open system, with substrate and organic-mineral nutrient solution and 4) hydroponic cultivation in an open system, with substrate and 100% mineral solution. The biofertilizer and the substrate were obtained from biodigestor effluent produced with cowdung. Plant development in treatment 1 was affected due to accumulation of solid particles in the root system. Treatment 2 provided to the plants rapid vegetative development and higher productivity. The fruits produced in treatment 2 presented higher weight, more elongated shape and higher total soluble solid content. A partial substitution of mineral fertilizers by biofertilizers showed viability of hydroponic cultivation of the melon plant in an open system with substrate.</text>

Plantas de pimenta 'Malagueta' (6 cm de altura) foram pulverizadas, nas dosagens recomendadas para hortaliças, com os seguintes produtos: biofertilizante 'Supermagro', 'Calda Viçosa', calda sulfocálcica, acaricida abamectina e água. Após a pulverização, foram transferidas dez fêmeas de P. latus para cada planta. Seis dias após, avaliou-se o número de ácaros por planta e calculou-se a taxa instantânea de crescimento populacional (r i). A população final de P. latus em plantas tratadas com a calda sulfocálcica, com a 'Calda Viçosa' e com o acaricida abamectina foi significativamente menor do que em plantas tratadas com água e com 'Supermagro'. Foram obtidos valores negativos para a r i de P. latus em plantas tratadas com a calda sulfocálcica (r i = -0,2922) e com a 'Calda Viçosa' (r i = -0,0301). Valores positivos para a r i foram obtidos para ácaros em plantas tratadas com 'Supermagro' (r i = 0,2373) e com água (r i = 0,1971), indicando aumento da população de P. latus nessas plantas. Não foi possível o cálculo do r i para ácaros em plantas tratadas com abamectina devido a morte de todas as fêmeas no inicio do experimento. A 'Calda Viçosa' e a calda sulfocálcica apresentaram potencial de controle para o ácaro branco P. latus em pimenta.Lethal and sublethal effects of alternative pesticides on the broad mite Polyphagotarsonemus latus were evaluated. Chilli pepper plants (6 cm high) were sprayed with one of the following treatments: biofertilizer 'Supermagro', 'Viçosa mixture' (a nutrient amended Bordeaux mixture), lime sulfur, abamectin and water. After spraying, 10 females of P. latus were transferred to each plant. Six days after, the number of mites per plant was counted and the instantaneous rate of increase (r i) was evaluated for each treatment. The population of P. latus on plants treated with lime sulfur, 'Viçosa mixture' and abamectin was significantly lower than on plants treated with biofertilizer and water. Negative values of the instantaneous rate of increase (r i), were obtained for P. latus on plants treated with lime sulfur (r i = -0.2922) and with 'Viçosa mixture' (r i = -0.0301). Positive values were obtained for mites on plants treated with biofertilizer (r i = 0.2373) and water (r i = 0.1971), which indicate increase of P. latus population on these plants. It was not possible to calculate r i for mites on abamectin treated plants, because all females died at the beginning of the experiment. Lime sulfur and 'Viçosa mixture' showed potential for controlling broad mite P. latus on chilli pepper 'Malagueta'.</text>

                <text>RESUMO:No Brasil existem várias doenças fúngicas que acometem a bananeira. Destas, pode-se citar a antracnose, responsável por grandes prejuízos à cultura, cujo agente causal é o fungo Colletotrichum musae. A principal forma de controle dessa enfermidade é através da aplicação de fungicidas a base de tiabendazol ou tiofanato metílico. Esse manejo, embora eficiente, favorece o desenvolvimento de resistência do patógeno, causa danos ao ambiente e ao produtor, deixando ainda resíduos nos frutos. Esses fatores têm favorecido a busca por substâncias alternativas com capacidade de controlar o fungo e que não sejam nocivas ao ambiente e, principalmente, que sejam seguras ao consumidor final. Dentre as opções, surge o interesse pelo uso de certos óleos essenciais e da própolis, ambos conhecidos por possuírem propriedades fungicidas. O presente trabalho foi desenvolvido com o objetivo de determinar o potencial fungitóxico 'in vitro' da própolis e dos óleos essenciais de palmarosa (Cymbopogon martinii), de teatree(Melaleuca alternifolia), de cravo (Eugenia caryophyllata), e de eucalipto (Corymbia citriodora), sobre Colletotrichum musae. O desenvolvimento experimental consistiu em adicionar inóculos fúngicos de 5 mm, obtidos a partir de colônias puras, ao meio de cultura BDA (batata-dextrose-ágar) acrescido das referidas substâncias em diferentes concentrações (0, 25, 50, 75, 100 e 125 µL/L). Paralelo aos tratamentos realizou-se teste com o fungicida padrão para comparações das médias. A eficiência das substâncias sobre o fungo foi determinada através das avaliações do crescimento micelial das colônias (média de duas medidas diametralmente opostas). Os valores de crescimento micelial obtidos foram utilizados também para o cálculo do índice de velocidade de crescimento micelial. O delineamento experimental utilizado foi inteiramente casualizado em esquema fatorial 5 x 6 + 1, (cinco substâncias em seis concentrações + fungicida), com cinco repetições. Os óleos de tea tree, cravo e palmarosa foram eficientes no controle do fungo Colletotrichum musae não diferindo do fungicida a partir da dose de 50 µL/L em todas as avaliações, apresentando potencial para controle em cultivos orgânicos ou em sistemas de manejo integrado.</text>

                <text>The Programa de Aquisição de Alimentos was created by the Lula administration (2003) as part of 'Fome Zero' (Zero Hungry). This program aims to ensure access to food for people living in food and/or nutritional insecure situation and strengthen family agriculture, by food that is pushased by the government. Considering the importance of this program as a differentiated policy that we abode in the analysis far of its implementation on national scale, as its operationalization in a specific context, with the spatial cutout of the municipality 'Dracena', located on São Paulo state western portion. It was found that, either in national and municipal levels, the program presented a growth on the number of approved projects, participating producers, benefited institutions and resource values. However, even with such expansion, the scope of this program is still quite limited and at the same time, too concentrated in spatial terms.</text>

After direct observation, desk research, techniques of free associations of words and semi structured interviews with 51 agents in the area of study, it is noted that the collective experience of the conservation unit enables an update of previously existing conflicts. One can therefore conclude that in collisions by ownership of the environment, cultural senses are in dispute, guided not only by objective interests, but also by the meanings that different social groups design for the collective construction of the world around them.EspañolEste artículo visa discutir reconfiguraciones en las dinámicas sociales a partir de la incorporación de demandas provenientes de la “cuestión ambiental”, tomando por base empírica el conflicto en el entorno del Parque Nacional de las Emas, unidad de conservación ambiental localizada en la divisa entre los estados de Goiás, Mato Grosso y Mato Grosso do Sul.                 <text>Tipicamente, a mandioca é comercializada na forma in natura, o que requer o descasque manual para posterior consumo humano. Atualmente, é crescente a comercialização da mandioca sem casca, pré-cozida e congelada, no entanto, o beneficiamento é realizado de forma artesanal. Este artigo trata do estudo da operação de retirada da casca e da entrecasca da mandioca, assim como dos demais fatores envolvidos, necessários à construção da base de conhecimentos requeridos para a definição conceitual da estrutura funcional, que expressa um equipamento a ser desenvolvido, destinado a este fim. Assim, o trabalho se delimita às fases iniciais do processo de projeto de produtos industriais. Nesse contexto, o objetivo é verificar se existe relação entre os fatores de influência na operação de descasque e a estrutura funcional de uma descascadora de mandioca. A metodologia empregada baseia-se no modelo de referência para o processo de desenvolvimento de máquinas agrícolas, com foco nas atividades concernentes às fases de projeto informacional e conceitual. Os resultados obtidos definem que a análise da operação de descasque, o conhecimento do sistema de cultivo e do processo operacional, as interferências e limites, os requisitos energéticos, o clima, ambiente e a planta são fatores de influência determinantes para a definição completa da estrutura funcional do equipamento. A função global 'retirar a casca e a entrecasca da mandioca' se desdobra em quatro funções parciais, as quais decompõem-se em treze funções elementares. Destas, dez funções derivam-se diretamente dos fatores de influência identificados inicialmente. Com isso, verifica-se a existência de relação entre os fatores de influência no projeto e a estrutura funcional do descascador de mandioca, demonstrando dependência entre as definições feitas no início da fase de projeto informacional e as atividades da fase de projeto conceitual, responsáveis pela definição linguística do funcionamento do equipamento e de suas interdependências.</text>

                <text>Com este trabalho, objetivou-se monitorar a fertirrigação com biofertilizante, comparando-a com a fertirrigação química convencional, na cultura do melão variedade 'Orange Flesh', cultivado em ambiente protegido. O experimento foi instalado no Campo Experimental da Universidade de Uberaba, num dos módulos de estufa plástica de 768 m², onde foram aplicados os tratamentos: fertirrigação convencional química e com biofertilizante. Também foram estudadas, dentro dos dois tratamentos, duas freqüências de fertirrigação: diária e semanal. As melhores produtividades foram obtidas com a aplicação diária de fertilizantes, com superioridade para os produtos organominerais, com produção total de 45,5 t ha-1 de frutos, superior estatisticamente às 42,4 t ha-1 obtidas com os produtos minerais. A fertirrigação semanal resultou em produtividades inferiores às decorrentes das aplicações diárias, sendo que os produtos organominerais superaram os químicos nesse tipo de aplicação, em 2,0 t ha-1, em média. Observou-se, também, que os produtos organominerais retardaram, em cerca de 8 d, o ciclo do melão, em comparação com os químicos. Apesar desse alongamento do ciclo da cultura, conclui-se que os produtos organominerais são extremamente eficientes na nutrição do melão, com produtividades similares e até superiores às dos produtos minerais utilizados.The experiment was installed in the Experimental Farm of the Uberaba University, in one of the modules of plastic greenhouse of 768 m². Treatments consisted of two types of fertigation: conventional chemical fertigation and with biofertilizers. Also, two fertigation frequencies were studied for each type: at intervals of one and seven days. The best yields were obtained with the daily fertilizer application, with superiority for the biofertilizers, with production of 45.5 t ha-1 of fruits. This was better than mineral products, which produced 42.4 t ha-1. The weekly fertigation had lower productivities, and in this case, the biofertilizers also surpassed the chemical, on an average by 2.0 t ha-1. It was also observed that the biofertilizers delayed the crop cycle by about 8 days, compared to chemical fertigation. In spite of prolongation of crop cycle, it can be concluded that biofertilizers are efficient in nutrition of melon, with similar or even higher yields in comparison to those obtained by mineral products.</text>

                <text>São apresentadas as informações obtidas no inquérito triatomíneo levado a efeito na região nordeste do Brasil. As características biogeográficas incluem a presença de áreas semi-áridas da caatinga e amplas faixas transicionais com outras feições paisagísticas. Entre estas foram incluídas as da floresta tropical atlântica e as inclusões florestadas mais extensas. No período de 1975 a 1980 foram examinados 15.342 triotomíneos coletados no ambiente domiciliar, visando detectar as presenças de sangue ingerido e de infecção natural por Trypanosoma tipo cruzi. O conteúdo intestinal foi submetido a reações com antisoros para homem, cão, gato, roedor (Kattus), marsupial (Didelphis) e ave (Gallus). Por ordem de freqüência, as espécies encontradas foram Triatoma pseudomaculada (40,6%), Panstrongylus megistus (19,7%), Triatoma brasiliensis e T. sordida (ambos com 14,3%), Rhodnius nasutus (6,1%) e Triatoma infestans (1,1%); além de em algumas outras raras. A presença de sangue foi detectada em 42,4% e a infecção em 3,4% desse total de espécimens examinados. Observou-se elevada mobilidade alimentar, com coeficientes gerais de 54,8% para ave e 30,0% para homem. Em nível específico pôde determinar apreciável grau de antropofilia em P. megistus e, em menor intensidade, em T. brasiliensis. Por sua vez, T. infestans mostrou-se altamente antropófilo. Observou-se apreciável ornitofilia em T. pseudomaculata e T. sordida, com elevada intensidade em R. nasutus. Por outro lado, a presença de sangue humano em espécimens capturados no peridomicílio indicou a ocorrência de freqüente mobilidade espacial, com exceção de T. infestans que não mostrou evidências de abandonar o domicílio. A tendência à domiciliação, além desta, revelou-se apreciável em P. megistus, moderada em T. brasiliensi, T. pseudomaculata, T. sordida e praticamente nula em R. nasutus. A distribuição geográfica confirmou o caráter autóctone de T. brasiliensis, T. pseudomaculata e R. nasutus em relação à caatinga, e do P. megistus em relação às regiões florestais atlânticas e de inclusão. Este último revelou caráter invasivo no que concerne à caatinga, enquanto T. infestans e T. sordida mostraram o mesmo aspecto quanto à região nordeste como um todo. Os resultados permitem concluir que, na transmissão regional epidemiologicamente significante da tripanossomíase americana, desempenha papel relevante o P. megistus, em primeiro lugar, e o T. brasiliensis, em segundo. Dependendo de fatores vários, provavelmente da densidade, poderão atuar secundariamente nesse sentido o T. pseudomaculata e o T. sordida. Quanto à T. infestans, a sua presença, em número reduzido, representa, no momento, risco apenas potencial. O controle rotineiro, mediante a desinsetização domiciliar, deverá fornecer bons resultados no que concerne à interrupção da transmissão. Todavia a reinfestação, pelo menos do peridomicílio, deverá provavelmente continuar. E isso em virtude de focos extradomiciliares que fornecem espécimens com tendência à colonização no ambiente humano. É de se prever que ela se fará a custa do P. megistus nas áreas florestais atlânticas e de inclusão e de T. brasiliensis, T. pseudomaculata e R. nasutus nas áreas da caatinga. A vigilância epidemiológica deverá pois levar em conta esses aspectos e tender a aumentar sua eficiência pela continuidade das pesquisas.This is the presentation of data obtained by a study carried out in the Northeast of Brazil, where the biogeographical characteristics include the 'caatinga' (a semi-arid) savanna and ample transitional strips with other features. Among them are the Atlantic tropical forest and the larger forest inclusions. From 1975 to 1980, a total of 15,342 bugs collected in domiciliar environment were examined to discover the blood feeding habits of and natural infection by Trypanosoma of the cruzi type. Intestinal content was submitted to reactions to antiserums for humans, dogs, cats, rodents (Rattus), opossums (Didelphis), and birds (Gallus). By order of frequency, the species found were: Triatoma pseudomaculata (40.6%). Panstrongylus magistus (19.7%), Triatoma brasiliensis and T. sordida (14.3% each), Rhodnius nasutus (6.1%) and Triatoma infestans (1.1%), and some other rare ones. Blood was detected in 42.4% and the infection rate was 3.4% of the total of the specimens examined. High feeding mobility was observed, and the general blood containing rates were 54.8% for birds and 30.0% for humans. P. megistus showed considerable anthropophily and was followed, at a lower degree, by Triatoma brasiliensis. Ornitophily was detected at high level among T. pseudomaculata and T. sordida, while R. nasutus fed almost exclusively on this host. On the other hand, the presence of human blood in specimens collected in peridomiciliar dwelling places indicates frequent spacial mobility, which occurs after the bugs have had their blood meals. This was quite evident among all the species except T. infestans which thus showed no tedency for displacement from this environment. Domiciliarity was also evident among P. megistus and, to a lower degree, among T. brasiliensis, T. pseudomaculata and T. sordida. However, domiciliarity was not characteristics of R. nasutus. Information on geographical distribution confirms the autochthonous quality of T. brasiliensis, T. pseudomaculata and R. nasutus populations in the 'caatinga'. The same autochthonous feature was evident in the P. megistus with relation to the Atlantic and inclusion forest environments. Nevertheless, it seems that this last triatominae bug becomes invasive in the 'caatinga'; moreover similar patterns were evident for T. infestans and T. sordida in all the Northeast region studied. Results permit the conclusion that, in the regional epidemiological transmission of South American trypanosomiasis, P. megistus play an important role, followed, in this particular aspect, by T. brasiliensis. Depending on several factors, probably colonization density, T. pseudomaculata and T. sordida may come in second in this aspect. For the present, T. infestans low density in the region presents only potential risk. Routine control through the application of domiciliary chemicals will break transmission. However, at least in the peridomiciliary environment, reinfections by P. megistus will continue to occur in the forest regions, and T. brasiliensis, T. pseudomaculada and R. nasutus in the savanna 'caatinga'. Probably this will be due to natural foci that will supply the human environment. Therefore, epidemiological surveillance must to take these several aspects into account and to increase its efficiency by research development.</text>

                <text>Microbacterium esteraromaticum es un microorganismo que se aísla con frecuencia de Jandfarming o procesos de biorremediación de hidrocarburos en la meseta de la Patagonia central (Argentina) y se halla sometido a variaciones de temperatura y a cambios de salinidad que se producen naturalmente. Su adaptabilidad a esos cambios climáticos indujo al estudio de las modificaciones que se producen en su membrana celular para resistirlos. En este trabajo se estudió el efecto conjunto de la temperatura y la concentración de cloruro de sodio sobre la composición de los ácidos grasos de membrana en la cepa de Microbacterium esteraromaticum GNP-5b. M. esteraromaticum utiliza, frente al incremento de la temperatura, la estrategia es aumentar la longitud de sus ácidos grasos de cadenas ramificada impar (17 átomos de carbono) con disminución de 15:0 anteiso, así como el porcentaje de ácidos grasos 15:0 iso (de mayor punto de fusión) a partir del respectivo anteiso. El aumento de la salinidad modifica la composición de ácidos grasos siguiendo patrones diferentes según sea la temperatura de incubación. A 14 Y28 oc incrementa los 15:0 iso y 17:0 iso en detrimento de sus homólogos anteiso. A 37 'C este grupo de ácidos grasos no sigue los mismos patrones anteriores. La longitud de cadena, expresada como el índice C15jC17, es errática con el aumento de la salinidad.</text>
