We, therefore, aimed at developing a fluorescent-bead based SARS-CoV-2 multiplex serology assay for detection of antibody responses to the SARS-CoV-2 proteome. Proteins of the SARS-CoV-2 proteome and protein N of SARS-CoV-1 and common cold Coronaviruses (ccCoVs) were recombinantly expressed in E. coli or HEK293 cells. Assay performance was assessed in a COVID-19 case cohort (n = 48 hospitalized patients from Heidelberg) as well as n = 85 age- and sex-matched pre-pandemic controls from the ESTHER study. Assay validation included comparison with home-made immunofluorescence and commercial enzyme-linked immunosorbent (ELISA) assays. A sensitivity of 100% (95% CI: 86–100%) was achieved in COVID-19 patients 14 days post symptom onset with dual sero-positivity to SARS-CoV-2 N and the receptor-binding domain of the spike protein. The specificity obtained with this algorithm was 100% (95% CI: 96–100%). Antibody responses to ccCoVs N were abundantly high and did not correlate with those to SARS-CoV-2 N. Inclusion of additional SARS-CoV-2 proteins as well as separate assessment of immunoglobulin (Ig) classes M, A, and G allowed for explorative analyses regarding disease progression and course of antibody response. This newly developed SARS-CoV-2 multiplex serology assay achieved high sensitivity and specificity to determine SARS-CoV-2 sero-positivity. Its high throughput ability allows epidemiologic SARS-CoV-2 research in large population-based studies. Conclusions Some herbal extracts showed a promising in vitro effectiveness against SARS-CoV-2, suggesting an antiviral potential of herbal medicinal products. During and after the Covid19 pandemic, a radical shift happened: most activities, from shopping to showrooms and fashion weeks had to move online. While e-commerce was already a consolidated pillar of fashion shopping, it recently started to evolve to achieve through AR (augmented reality) and VR (virtual reality) what customers could before find in physical stores: interesting experiences and sensory stimuli. Online traffic peaked, creating even more room for technology based on artificial intelligence. With its disrupting powers, AI (artificial intelligence) has all the potentialities to take over each step of the fashion value chain. Furthermore, with the quarantine the production of fashion was slowed down by the absence of workers in production sites. Artificial intelligence and automation could be an answer. In this paper AR, VR and AI technologies are analyzed with practical examples on what has happened and is happening in the industry, from a perspective based on the challenges imposed by Covid-19. Es necesario entender cómo el cambio climático está afectando a los pequeños productores agrícolas en Guatemala para promover medidas que permitan enfrentar estos cambios. Objetivo. El objetivo de este trabajo fue caracterizar dos sistemas agrícolas de pequeña escala guatemaltecos, documentar cómo los pequeños productores perciben los impactos del cambio climático e identificar los esfuerzos de adaptación realizados. Materiales y métodos. Se realizaron encuestas estructuradas en hogares productores de café o granos básicos en los paisajes de Acatenango y Chiquimula, vulnerables al cambio climático, entre junio y julio de 2014. La investigación recogió las percepciones de los productores sobre cambios en temperatura y lluvia, los impactos reportados como consecuencia de dichos cambios y las acciones implementadas en las fincas a modo de respuesta. Resultados. Los resultados indicaron que el 95 % de los encuestados percibió cambios en el clima en la última década y el 81 % consideró que estos cambios afectaron negativamente su producción. El 41 % de los productores implementaron prácticas para adaptarse a los cambios percibidos, en mayor medida aquellos que producen café. Las prácticas de adaptación implementadas en las fincas difirieron entre paisajes, cultivos y cambio percibido, siendo la más utilizada la siembra de árboles para amortiguar los efectos del incremento de temperatura. Conclusión. Para lograr una mayor respuesta adaptativa de los pequeños productores y para promover el uso de prácticas que incrementen su resiliencia, es necesario incrementar el apoyo técnico, financiero y político orientado a facilitar la adaptación de los pequeños productores ante el cambio climático. El estudio se centró en las percepciones de los productores sobre los cambios en temperatura y lluvia, los impactos reportados como consecuencia de dichos cambios y las acciones de adaptación implementadas en las fincas. Resultados. Los resultados indicaron que el 98 % de los productores percibió cambios en el clima, gran parte de ellos los asociaron con impactos sobre su producción de café, y el 60 % de los encuestados realizó cambios en el manejo de sus cafetales para reducir los efectos del cambio climático. Las prácticas de adaptación más frecuentes fueron sembrar árboles e incrementar el uso de agroquímicos, en mayor medida en respuesta al incremento de temperatura. Conclusión. Recientemente Ramsar ha solicitado al IPCC el desarrollo de un informe técnico sobre la relación de los humedales y el cambio climático, sin embargo, existe hoy una gama de conocimientos, que a pesar de las incertidumbres, permite tener un acercamiento a la acción del cambio climático sobre los humedales. En el presente estudio se muestra un análisis preliminar sobre vulnerabilidades, impactos y medidas de adaptación de los humedales al cambio climático. Es un humedal frágil y vulnerable al cambio climático. El presente trabajo hace un análisis preliminar de la relación de la Ciénaga de Zapata con el cambio climático. El análisis muestra apuntes sociales y económicos que caracterizan al humedal. Se plantean algunos de los valores ecológicos de la ciénaga como parte de esta caracterización y a continuación se muestran vulnerabilidades del ecosistema ante el cambio climático, los impactos de este cambio en el humedal y se da una serie de medidas de adaptación, que culminan con la propuesta de un proyecto integral con una serie de salidas que permitan atenuar las incertidumbres y favorecer la explotación y manejo del humedal. En la propuesta de proyecto se incluye también el humedal de Majaguillar ubicado en la costa Norte de la provincia de Matanzas.
