Metodológicamente se pone a prueba la teoría Push and Pull, la cual considera tanto factores de expulsión del país de origen, como factores de atracción en el país receptor, utilizando como técnicas de recolección y análisis de información la revisión bibliográfica de literatura académica indexada y de prensa. A través de la revisión del estado de la literatura, logran identificarse como principales motivos de la emigración de ciudadanos haitianos la persistente inestabilidad política y económica del país fruto de una elite predatoria poco desarrollistas; aunada a la creciente degradación ambiental que le imposibilita dar seguridad alimentaria a sus ciudadanos; así como la crisis acaecida tras el terremoto de 2010.
