- Este trabalho teve como objetivo avaliar o crescimento vegetativo do coqueiro anão submetido à aplicação de biofertilizantes líquidos. Foram utilizados 2 tipos de biofertilizantese 6 doses (0; 0,35; 0,7; 1,05; 1,4; 1,75 L/planta/aplicação) no crescimento vegetativo do coqueiro anão. O trabalho foi conduzido em condições de campo, no CCHA da UEPB Campus-IV. O delineamento experimental adotado foi o de blocos casualizados, em esquema fatorial 2x6, sendo 2 tipos de biofertilizantes (preparados com esterco bovino sem e com farinha de rocha) e 6 doses (0; 0.35; 0.7; 1.05; 1.4; 1.75 L planta-1 aplicação-1), com quatro repetições, totalizando 48 unidades experimentais. A avaliação do crescimento realizado através de medições do número de folíolos por folha, número de folíolos por planta, área foliar unitária e total. Os tipos e as doses de biofertilizante não afetaram significativamente o número de folíolos,sendo a dose de 1,75 L planta-1 aplicação-1 apresentou menor desempenho no número de folíolos do coqueiro anão, embora de forma não significativa; os tipos e as doses de biofertilizante não afetaram de forma significativa a área foliar do coqueiro anão; a dose 1,05 L/planta/aplicação foi a que apresentou melhor desempenho na área foliar do coqueiro anão, embora de forma não significativa.

: Objetivou-se com este trabalho avaliar características filotécnicas e resposta no rendimento de grãos com diferentes cultivares de soja (Glycine max (L.) Merrill) sob diferentes manejos. Para o ensaio adotou-se o delineamento inteiramente casualizado, com arranjo fatorial 4x7. As parcelas foram compostas por 4 diferentes manejos: Testemunha, 2,4-D e Progibb, Biofran, Internode. As 7 cultivares analisadas foram: TMG 2185 IPRO, M 8372 IPRO, IMA 84114 RR, M 7110 IPRO, HO MARACAI IPRO, IMA 831 IPRO e NS 7667 IPRO totalizando em 28 tratamentos. Em R8 foram efetuadas as determinações: altura de planta, número de nós, número de ramos reprodutivos, total de vagens por planta, número de grãos por planta, massa de mil grãos e produtividade. Houve interação entre cultivares e manejos para os carácteres agronômicos: altura de planta, número de grãos por planta e produtividade. As cultivares TMG 2185 IPRO, M 7110 IPRO e M 8372 IPRO apresentaram interações positivas para o manejo Internode, atingindo incrementos médios de 16,4, 12,6 e 8,4 sacas por hectare respectivamente com relação a Testemunha, enquanto que o uso de 2,4-D e Progibb nas cultivares IMA 831 IPRO e TMG 2185 IPRO, indicaram decréscimo na produção final.

Um grande número de pequenas propriedades rurais no Brasil utiliza semeadoras manuais para a operação de semeadura. O fator limitante para a utilização de tratores e equipamentos de maior rendimento nessas condições são terrenos pedregosos ou declivosos e disponibilidade de capital. As semeadoras manuais existentes no mercado mantêm o mesmo princípio desde o início de sua utilização e não sofreram grandes melhorias. Neste trabalho avaliaram-se semeadoras existentes no mercado, classificando-as quanto à regularidade de vazão dos seus mecanismos dosadores. Para a avaliação estabeleceu-se, como meta, a vazão de duas sementes por ciclo. Algumas semeadoras resultaram em baixo desvio-padrão e média próximo de duas sementes por ciclo, enquanto outras apresentaram desempenho deficiente. Não houve algum tipo de mecanismo dosador que se destacasse, sendo seus efeitos encobertos pela qualidade construtiva das máquinas.In Brazil, a great number of small farms still use manual planters, especially in hilly and stony areas. These machines have not received significant design improvements since the start of their usage. Some of these planters available in the market have been tested for their seeding performance for corn. Each machine was set up to deliver two seeds each time. Only a few planters resulted in a low standard deviation and number of seeds close to the target. The performance of the seed meter was affected by the manufacturing quality of the machines.

RESUMO O objetivo deste trabalho foi verificar a influência de diferentes espaçamentos de plantio sobre o crescimento vegetativo de pereiras das cvs. Rocha e Hosui, em sistema orgânico de produção. As mudas das pereiras ‘Rocha’ e ‘Hosui’ enxertadas sobre o marmeleiro ‘CP’ foram plantadas em setembro de 2009. Os espaçamentos utilizados foram: 1,0; 0,8; 0,6 e 0,4 m, entre plantas por 3,5 m entre linhas, equivalendo às densidades de plantio de 2.857; 3.571; 4.762 e 7.143 plantas ha-1, respectivamente. Por dois ciclos consecutivos - 2011/2012 e 2012/2013 -, referentes ao terceiro e ao quarto anos após o plantio, respectivamente, foram avaliadas as variáveis diâmetro detronco, diâmetro de ramos e número de ramos. No segundo ciclo, foram avaliados o volume de copa, a área foliar estimada, a cobertura do dossel e os teores de clorofila a, b e total. Considerando as variáveis: projeção vertical de área foliar estimada, volume de copa e diâmetro de tronco e ramos, para a cv. Hosui, observou-se maior vigor vegetativo em relação à cv. Rocha. A cv. Rocha apresentou redução dos teores de clorofila no menor espaçamento entre plantas, enquanto na cv. Hosui os teores de clorofila não variaram com o espaçamento. Ocorreu aumento da área foliar estimada em função do adensamento para as duas cultivares; para o volume de copa, porém, este efeito foi observado apenas para a cv. Hosui, e para o índice de cobertura de dossel, apenas para a cv. Rocha. O maior adensamento de plantio favoreceu as pereiras da cv. Hosui, proporcionando maior volume de copa por área de terreno, sem ocorrer redução dos teores foliares de clorofila, mas com aumento da cobertura do dossel. Para a cv. Rocha, no entanto, adensamentos maiores do que 4.700 plantas ha-1 parecem ser prejudiciais, visto promoverem redução dos teores foliares de clorofila, porém com maior cobertura do dossel, podendo indicar autossombreamento.

A produção de café orgânico vem se constituindo uma tendência necessária e irreversível do agronegócio brasileiro. Essa atividade tem-se destacado como uma alternativa de renda para alguns cafeicultores, devido à crescente demanda mundial por alimentos mais saudáveis. Entretanto, grande parte das técnicas propostas pela agricultura orgânica está sendo aplicada empiricamente no cultivo de café, principalmente no Estado de Minas Gerais, maior região produtora de café do Brasil. Levando-se em consideração a baixa fertilidade natural dos solos dessa região cafeeira, bem como a elevada extração de nutrientes pelo cafeeiro, objetivou-se neste trabalho identificar possíveis fatores limitantes para a produção orgânica do cafeeiro, relacionados à fertilidade do solo e ao estado nutricional das plantas. Foram realizadas avaliações da fertilidade do solo e análise das folhas em vinte e uma lavouras orgânicas representativas do Estado de Minas Gerais. As amostras de solo foram analisadas para determinação do pH, acidez potencial e dos teores de P, K, Ca, Mg, S, Al e matéria orgânica. As amostras foliares foram analisadas para determinação dos teores de N, P, K, Ca, Mg, S, B, Cu, Fe, Mn e Zn. Com base nos padrões de interpretação para cafeeiros convencionais propostos pela literatura, estabeleceram-se as freqüências com que os caracteres analisados foram inferiores aos critérios de interpretação da fertilidade do solo e estado nutricional das plantas. A análise dos dados foi realizada por estatística descritiva. Novos trabalhos nessa nova área são necessários, visando a uma melhor interpretação da análise foliar e da fertilidade do solo, quando se trabalha com café orgânico.The production of organic coffee have been shown as a necessary and irreversible tendency of brazilian agrobusiness. This activity has an important role as an income alternative for some coffee producers, due to the increasing global demand for safety food. However the majority of techniques proposed in the organic agriculture have beeing use empiricaly to the coffee plantings, especialy in Minas Gerais state, the producer state coffee in Brazil. Considering the low natural soil fertility of this coffee region and the great nutrient exportation from the coffee crops, the objective of this research is to evaluate possible negative fators for the organic coffee production related with soil fertility and the nutritional status of plants. Soil and leaf samples were collected in 21coffee plantings of Minas Gerais. The soil samples were analyzed for pH, P, K, P, K, Ca, Mg, S, Al and organic matter contents. Foliar samples were analyzed for N, P, K, Ca, Mg, S, B, Cu, Fe, Mn and Zn contents. Considering the patterns established for conventional coffee plantings found in literature, frequencies were calculated when soil and leaf contents were low, high and adequate. The data were analyzed through descriptive statistics. More data is required on tissue analysis and soil fertility in order to effectively reveal nutritional disorders in organic coffee plantings.

RESUMO: As ações antrópicas vêm acarretando sérios danos ao meio ambiente ao longo dos anos, como a poluição de fontes de águas subterrâneas e superficiais, derrubada de árvores e matas nativas e o descarte inadequado de esgotos e dejetos de animais. Um dos problemas mais recorrentes é a utilização de fontes não renováveis, pensando nessa problemática: novas tecnologias foram desenvolvidas, como os biodigestores. Foi elaborado um biodigestor com materiais de fácil aquisição na cidade de Garanhuns-PE, sua construção foi realizada na Universidade Federal do Agreste de Pernambuco com objetivo de avaliar a adaptação desse sistema e otimizar os processos que ocorrem em seu interior. Após a montagem do sistema foram feitos ajustes de otimização para verificar vazamentos e possíveis correções no funcionamento do projeto piloto. Foram avaliados o tempo de retenção hidráulica (TRH), volume de carga diária (VC), temperatura interna e externa do sistema, cálculo da pressão interna do biodigestor juntamente com a quantidade de biogás, análise de nove sólidos e pH do esterco bruto diluído na proporção 2:1 e do biofertilizante. O tempo de retenção hidráulica (TRH) foi de 30 dias e o volume de carga diária ideal foi de um litro de esterco em diluição a cada dois dias, o pH do biofertilizante se estabilizou em 7.2 estando na faixa ideal, as temperaturas observadas foram de 25ºC no interior do biodigestor e a média na pressão do sistema foi de 0,943 atm. Houve reduções significativas no teor de sólidos, principalmente os sólidos totais e voláteis que são os principais precursores do gás metano. O biodigestor foi avaliado durante 30 dias e a produção total de biogás foi de 18 L. Conclui-se que é um sistema viável, tanto de modo técnico quanto de modo econômico, podendo ser implementando em zonas rurais ou urbanas e ser adaptado para maiores escalas. Com o objetivo de conhecer a situação, o perfil e a percepção dos produtores de café do Município de Grande Rios, PR sobre a ACAFÉ Associação dos Cafeicultores de Grandes Rios, foi realizado um estudo nos meses de junho a dezembro de 2005, por acadêmicos e professores do curso de Agronomia da Universidade Estadual do Centro Oeste,UNICENTRO, em um sistema de intercâmbio e parceria entre a Universidade e a EMATER-PR. Foram pesquisados 50 produtores, escolhidos aleatoriamente, agrupados em quatro classes de público, distribuídos da seguinte forma: produtores associados; produtores ex-associados; produtores não associados; diretores e ex-diretores da associação. Os questionários foram aplicados durante um dia de campo sobre “Produção de café” organizado e realizado pela EMATER-PR. As análises dos resultados e as recomendações foram realizadas pelo grupo de técnicos e professores autores do trabalho. A pesquisa revelou que a cultura do café representa a principal fonte de renda dos produtores, sendo responsável por 85% dos rendimentos obtidos nas propriedades. Foi verificado que, entre as culturas comerciais, o café é uma das que mais gera empregos. O estudo comprovou que “para haver melhores resultados econômicos” é necessária a existência de uma conjugação entre tecnologia e organização dos produtores na produção e comercialização. Também foi constatado que a contribuição da assistência técnica prestada pela EMATER-PR, foi imprescindível para o processo, embora ainda haja um certo desnível no uso de tecnologias, que precisa ser analisado e corrigido. Com base neste estudo pode-se concluir sobre a importância que ACAFE tem para o município e para os cafeicultores de Grandes Rios como fator de desenvolvimento rural sustentável. A pesquisa revela que apenas 6% dos cafeicultores do município são associados, indicando a necessidade de se realizar um trabalho para a revitalização da associação, pois, caso nada seja feito, há o risco de uma estagnação da mesma. Como sugestão, recomenda-se a implementação de uma série de ações que não devem ser trabalhadas isoladamente. Entres as ações sugeridas, destacam-se: esclarecer sobre a cobrança de mensalidades e taxas; criar mecanismos e espaços que proporcionem o ingresso de jovens e mulheres na associação; possibilitar na associação a participação do pequeno produtor, que é mais descapitalizado e que usa menos tecnologia; atrair produtores que se sentem excluídos do processo; discutir com os associados sobre a renovação da diretoria, sugerindo que alguns cargos sejam ocupados por mulheres e jovens; realizar um trabalho de discussão, divulgação e esclarecimento do estatuto e do regimento interno, junto ao quadro social; rediscutir os critérios utilizados para escalonar e priorizar o uso das máquinas e equipamentos de forma participativa com os associados; promover, desenvolver e ampliar a participação dos sócios nos processos de compra de insumos e de comercialização, negociando prazos maiores para o pagamento dos insumos; buscar parcerias com outras entidades para aumentar os benefícios aos sócios em outras áreas, tais como saúde, educação, lazer e documentação; criar e ampliar atividades nas áreas sociais, ambientais, culturais, de esporte e lazer.

O objetivo deste artigo consiste identificar a influência de diversos fatores relacionados com a renda do agricultor familiar, que podem reforçar ou não a idéia básica contida na política de fortalecimento da agricultura familiar implementada pelo Governo desde 1996. Os retornos foram estimados baseados em regressão linear (OLS) em dois estágios, com a equação do segundo momento sendo corrigida pela incorporação da razão inversa de Mills gerada com o resultado do modelo probit, onde é estimada a possibilidade do horticultor demandar ou não crédito. Ficou evidenciada a desvantagem da negociação através dos grandes supermercados, que tendem a comprimir, conforme constatado por Melo (2001), a remuneração dos fornecedores de hortaliças.This paper aims to identify the influence of several factors linked with the familiar farmer income, which can reinforce or not the basic idea of policy of incentive of the familiar agricultural implemented by Government since 1996. The profits were estimated based on OLS linear regression in two stages, with the equation of second moment has been adjusted by incorporation of inverse ration of Mills generate with the result of probit model, where is estimated the possibility of the producers of vegetables demand or not the credit. It was evident the disadvantage of trade via the big supermarkets, because they contribute to reduce, in according to Mello (2001), the gains of vegetables producers.

Quassia amara é arbusto de 3 a 6 metros de altura, tendo sido retirado indiscriminadamente das florestas para extrair do caule as quassinas usadas na indústria farmacêutica e como inseticida em agricultura orgânica. Não se tem muita informação técnica acerca do crescimento desta espécie para subsidiar estratégias de manejo sustentado. Este trabalho tem como objetivo avaliar o crescimento de Q. amara L. em cultivo agroecológico na Costa Rica. O trabalho consistiu em realizar avaliações do desenvolvimento de indivíduos de Q. amara em parcelas permanentes de medições, instaladas em meio às plantações desta espécie em consórcio com essências arbóreas. Foram efetuadas medições de diâmetro do caule a 10 cm do solo e altura total. Foi observado que em função das taxas de crescimento vegetal e incrementos médio e corrente anuais (IMA e ICA), mesmo após cinco anos de plantio, a madeira de Quassia amara para extração de quassinas não está pronta para colheita.Quassia amara is a 3-6m tall bush which has been indiscriminately removed from forests for extraction of quassins from its stem. These substances have been used in pharmaceutical industry and as insecticide in organic agriculture. There is not much technical information about the growth of this species to subsidize sustainable management strategies. The aim of this study was to evaluate the growth of Quassia amara under agroecological cultivation in Costa Rica. The study consisted in evaluating the development of Q. amara individuals in permanent plots intercropped with other tree species. Stem diameter at 10 cm from the ground and total height were measured. According to the results concerning growth rates, Mean Annual Increment (MAI) and Current Annual Increment (CAI), even at five years after planting, Q. amara wood is not ready to be harvested.

Em meio a debates e reivindicações sobre a necessidade de uma maior intervenção do Estado na questão da segurança e soberania alimentar, é criado em 2003 – pelo governo federal – o Programa de Aquisição de Alimentos (PAA). O programa tem como um de seus objetivos cooperar na luta contra a fome no Brasil, além de atender, pelo menos em parte, as reivindicações de movimentos sociais de luta pela terra que buscam um maior reconhecimento e apoio para a produção da agricultura familiar camponesa, que mesmo sendo deixada em segundo plano pelas políticas agrícolas do Estado brasileiro, é responsável por importante contribuição para a soberania e segurança alimentar do país.
