                <text>COVID-19 and the resulting lockdown policies have far ranging effects on health professions education (HPEd), with an impact in all its aspects, including curricula, teaching methods, student selection processes, educational outcomes, HPEd research, and student, teacher, and school welfare. Adaptations to the pandemic and lockdown measures have leaned heavily on technology. The effects may have differences across various health professions particularly those with an emphasis on psychomotor skills. There may also be differences among populations of students, teachers and schools related to the availability, accessibility and cost of technology. The rapid, forced change in the paradigms of health professions education across the globe may persist as long as lockdown measures and threat of resurgence remains, even as COVID-19 still sweeps across different countries.</text>

                <text>México es un país con amplia dependencia de diversidad genética intraespecífica para especies forrajeras tropicales (Poaceae), las cuales son altamente productivas para forraje y productos pecuarios en pastoreo. Las consecuencias de poseer una baja base genética en la diversidad de estos ecosistemas han sido reconocidas en diversas partes del mundo: el ejemplo más claro es el ataque de mosca pinta en Brasil, que arrasó con el forraje disponible de Brachiaria decumbens por dos meses, en una superficie de praderas equivalente al estado de Coahuila en México. Contrariamente a las zonas tropicales, México es rico en diversidad de especies, y en amplias relaciones alélicas diversas intraespecíficas en especies evolucionadas a condiciones de los desiertos y semidesiertos norteamericanos; las cuales, hasta la fecha se mantienen prácticamente inexploradas. Las especies introducidas abaten junto con el sobrepastoreo la riqueza genética de estas especies; sin embargo, las especies introducidas protegen rápidamente el suelo a este alto costo, por lo que su uso está en amplio debate; no obstante, la alternativa de rápido avance de la desertificación resulta peor. Se debe recolectar sistemáticamente la riqueza genética de amplia diversidad de especies para escudriñarlas sistemáticamente e identificar combinaciones alélicas que respondan a demandas futuras ante el cambio climático y relaciones sociales de producción en pastoreo en México.</text>

                <text>La expansión de la frontera agrícola en la Argentina, motorizada fundamentalmente por la enorme expansión del cultivo de soja, ha producido una de las mayores transformaciones económicas, sociales, demográficas y ambientales, en la historia del país. Simultáneamente la tasa de desmonte de bosques nativos –relacionada fuertemente con el proceso anteriormente citado-llegó, según índices oficiales, a superar varias veces el promedio mundial –con enormes impactos en la biodiversidad y en comunidades rurales tradicionales. El nordeste de Argentina es una de las áreas donde la soja emerge como en una de las principales actividades agrícola y donde la situación social revela, coincidentemente, los niveles de pobreza e indigencia más altos del país. En la región, la agricultura familiar y los pequeños productores están desapareciendo, mientras continúa la emigración rural hacia los asentamientos miserables de las grandes ciudades, en un contexto donde centenares de pueblos rurales están en proceso de extinción. En este contexto, la discusión central del problema socio-ambiental reside en una lucha por la apropiación de la renta proveniente de los recursos naturales (generalmente hasta su agotamiento) tanto por sectores intra como extra regionales. Estos conflictos ambientales tienen también un carácter distributivo y surgen de la discusión con que los diferentes actores sociales se relacionan con el mundo natural y con sus propias formas de vida referidas en general a bienes en disputa o a como se ven afectados ciertos sectores por otros, derivados de un mal uso de estos. En el caso de estudio propuesto, la mayoría de los conflictos ambientales se apoyan en la problemática derivada de la mala gestión de los recursos naturales, cuyo principal conflicto ambiental existente es, de hecho el conflicto por la tierra.</text>

Dialogando com a temática do urbanismo insurgente e dos ativismos urbanos, este artigo discute as táticas cidadãs para ativação de áreas subutilizadas, apresentando, como casos referenciais, as hortas comunitárias do Rio de Janeiro. Partimos de uma discussão sobre o urbanismo tático como abordagem para conversão de áreas subutilizadas em comuns urbanos, para, em seguida, proceder à análise dos casos das hortas Parque Sitiê (Vidigal) e General Glicério (Laranjeiras), iniciativas comunitárias de apropriação e transformação de espaços subutilizados em comuns urbanos, que trouxeram benefícios sociais, econômicos, urbanísticos e ambientais a essas localidades. Procuramos questionar de que forma essas ações podem ser multiplicadas, e qual seria o papel do poder público nesse processo.</text>

                <text>As the COVID-19 epidemic expands in the world, and with the previous SARS epidemic, avian flu, Ebola and AIDS serving as a warning, biomedical and biotechnological research has the task to find solutions to counteract viral entry and pathogenesis. A novel approach can come from marine chemodiversity, recognized as a relevant source for developing a future natural “antiviral pharmacy”. Activities of antioxidants against viruses can be exploited to cope with human viral infection, from single individual infections to protection of populations. There is a potentially rich and fruitful reservoir of such compounds thanks to the plethora of bioactive molecules and families present in marine microorganisms. The aim of this communication is to present the state-of-play of what is known on the antiviral activities recognized in (micro)algae, highlighting the different molecules from various algae and their mechanisms of actions, when known. Given the ability of various algal molecules—mainly sulfated polysaccharides—to inhibit viral infection at Stage I (adsorption and invasion of cells), we envisage a need to further investigate the antiviral ability of algae, and their mechanisms of action. Given the advantages of microalgal production compared to other organisms, the opportunity might become reality in a short period of time.</text>

Por eso, se ha despertado el interés de los educadores ya que permite proporcionar a los estudiantes la posibilidad de asociar los contenidos curriculares con la práctica, de esta forma, los estudiantes se tornan protagonistas de su conocimiento. Protocolo de la RSL para responder  las interrogantes de la investigación: ¿Que infraestructura y herramientas están siendo utilizadas? ¿Cuales son las estrategias más utilizadas? ¿Cuales son las principales ventajas y desventajas? Las experiencias educativas acontecen , principalmente, en espacios escolares y en los llamados FabLabs. La impresora 3D y los kits de arduinos son las herramientas más utilizadas. La metodología de enseñar basada en proyectos es la más usada. La principal ventaja recae en el fomento del trabajo cooperativo y colaborativo y las desventajas más significativas actúan en la falta de estructura y en la formación de los profesores para ejercer el enseño en el contexto innovador exigido por una ecología del aprendizaje inherente a la Sociedad de la Información en la que vivimos. Las experiencias educativas makers son vivencias que van más allá de las paredes del salon de clases y empoderan a los jóvenes, dándole la oportunidad para que sean constructores y transformadores de sus propias realidades.</text>

                <text>An alarming disease caused by the new severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) named COVID-19 has emerged as an unprecedented public health problem and ignited a world health crisis. As opposed to what was believed at the beginning of the pandemic, the virus has not only spread but persevere causing secondary waves and challenging the concept of herd immunity against viral infections. While the majority of SARS-CoV-2-infected individuals may remain asymptomatic, a fraction of individuals may develop low to high-grade severity signs and symptoms of COVID-19. The disease is multifactorial and can progress quickly, leading to severe complications and even death in a few days. Therefore, understanding the pre-existing factors for disease development has never been so pressing. In this scenario, the insights on the mechanisms underlying disease allied to the immune response developed during the viral invasion could shed light on novel predictive factors and prognostic tools for COVID-19 management and interventions. A recent genome-wide association study (GWAS) revealed several molecules that significantly impacted critically ill COVID-19 patients, leading to the core mechanisms of COVID-19 pathogenesis. Considering these findings and the fact that ACE-2 polymorphisms alone cannot explain disease progress and severity, this review aims at summarizing the most important and recent findings of the research and expert consensus of possible cytokine-related polymorphisms existing in the differential expression of paramount immune molecules that could be crucial for providing guidelines for decision-making and appropriate clinical management of COVID-19.</text>

                <text>Food waste (FW) has recently attracted the interest of different institutions and has been the focus of many studies due to its important environmental, social and economic impact. This paper aims to analyze whether a didactic intervention, consisting of informing teachers and pupils and involving pupils in reducing FW, could bring about changes in the level of knowledge and attitude towards FW and in the amount of FW generated during the mid-morning break and lunch at schools. This study was conducted at a public Primary School in Valencia (Spain). Subtle changes in the level of knowledge and attitude towards FW were detected in teachers and pupils after the intervention. Around 30% of FW reduction at lunch was observed in the intervention group but not in the other groups. A decrease of almost half of the average weight was observed during the mid-morning break in the rest of primary groups. The results apparently show that addressing the FW issue in classrooms can have a very positive effect on children’s attitudes. As it is such a cross-cutting issue; it raises awareness about a large group of Sustainable Development Goals, and encourages these young citizens to make conscious decisions and to act responsibly.</text>

                <text>Los gradientes de montaña constituyen excelentes sistemas para estudiar los determinantes físicos y biológicos de los patrones de distribución de las especies de aves. En este trabajo estudiamos la distribución altitudinal de la riqueza de aves en la Sierra de Velasco, Provincia de La Rioja, Noroeste de Argentina. Entre 2015 y 2018 registramos mediante conteo por puntos las especies de aves observadas entre 1000 y 3000 m s.n.m, y estimamos variables climáticas y de vegetación con potencial influencia  sobre la distribución observada. Registramos un total de 163 especies (31 familias) a lo largo de todo el gradiente elevacional. La relación entre la riqueza de especies y la elevación mostró un patrón jorobado, con el número más alto de especies en las altitudes intermedias, y una disminución hacia la base y hacia la cima. Este mismo patrón ha sido descripto para montañas de base árida en otras regiones del mundo. Las variables ambientales que se asociaron con más fuerza con la variación altitudinal en la riqueza de especies fueron la temperatura media anual, el tipo de ambiente ecológico y el tipo de hábitat, cuya combinación sería optimizada en las elevaciones intermedias, explicando el patrón jorobado. Nuestro trabajo aporta información acerca del patrón altitudinal de la distribución de la avifauna en una montaña de base árida, y constituye una línea de base para futuros monitoreos en relación con potenciales cambios en la distribución por efecto del cambio climático.</text>

                <text>The Instituto de investigaciones Marinas y Costeras INVEMAR, developed the proyect about thecaracterization of the macrofauna of the upper continental slope of the Colombian Caribeansea. The present proyect covered the identification, distribution, abundance and faunisticalcomposition of the crustacean decapods, of the north of Colombian Caribean sea, between LaGuajira and Magdalena, to 300 and 500m deep. The material was placed in the Colección deReferencia de Organismos Marinos of INVEMAR and the Museo de Historia Natural delInstituto de Ciencias Naturales de la Universidad Nacional de Colombia. The taxonomicinformation about each species was fed the data base about marine biodiversity of theINVEMAR. 6381 individuals of the crustacean decapods were collected and 99 species, 48 ofwhom are the firts report for the species in the Colombian Caribean sea and, two are newspecies. One of the genus Cymonomoidesand the other of the genus Pyromaia. Five families werethe most abundant 77% two groups of the crustacean decapods there established. One to300m deep, caracterized for the species Portunus spinicarpus, Methanephrops binghami, Munidalongipesy Penaeopsis serrata. The secon group at 500m deep was caracterized by the speciesGlyphocrangon neglecta, Pleoticus robustusy Munidopsis riveroi.</text>
