Para su control se están  empleando productos de síntesis química con diversas dosis y grados de toxicidad, lo que provoca grandes  costos ambientales (impacto negativo sobre la fauna silvestre, los polinizadores, los enemigos naturales, la  pesca, la calidad del agua) y costos sociales (envenenamiento de trabajadores, contaminación de alimentos,  enfermedades humanas) no sufi cientemente considerados. Ruiz Pérez Description An account of the resource La redistribución del suelo en las laderas por las prácticas de laboreo representa un proceso de erosión y degradación del suelo de elevada intensidad. En las áreas agrícolas de la cuenca del Río Cuyaguateje, los animales de trabajo son la principal fuente de potencia para las labores agrícolas. El estudio fue conducido en parcelas, y en ellas fueron realizados tres experimentos. El primero: laboreo con arado de vertedera en contorno (c), el segundo, rastrillo perpendicular al contorno (r) y el tercero, arado a favor y en contra de la pendiente (af y c). En todos los casos se utilizaron trazadores para medir la traslocación del suelo y con ello evaluar la erosión por laboreo. A partir del análisis de las mediciones realizadas se observa la tendencia a que el suelo se desplace preferentemente en el sentido de la pendiente en cada parcela. Algunos factores que influyeron en los resultados fueron: 1) la presencia de malas hierbas alteró el movimiento de los trazadores en algunos tramos de la pendiente; 2) La profundidad del laboreo no se mantuvo durante toda la labranza.
