                <text>We describe the outcomes in cancer patients during the initial outbreak of the COVID-19 in Europe from the retrospective, multi-center observational OnCovid study. We identified 204 cancer patients from eight centers in the United Kingdom, Italy, and Spain aged &gt; 18 (mean = 69) and diagnosed with COVID-19 between February 26th and April 1st, 2020. A total of 127 (62%) were male, 184 (91%) had a diagnosis of solid malignancy, and 103 (51%) had non-metastatic disease. A total of 161 (79%) had &gt; 1 co-morbidity. A total of 141 (69%) patients had &gt; 1 COVID-19 complication. A total of 36 (19%) were escalated to high-dependency or intensive care. A total of 59 (29%) died, 53 (26%) were discharged, and 92 (45%) were in-hospital survivors. Mortality was higher in patients aged &gt; 65 (36% versus 16%), in those with &gt; 2 co-morbidities (40% versus 18%) and developing &gt; 1 complication from COVID-19 (38% versus 4%, p = 0.004). Multi-variable analyses confirmed age &gt; 65 and &gt; 2 co-morbidities to predict for patient mortality independent of tumor stage, active malignancy, or anticancer therapy. During the early outbreak of SARS-CoV-2 infection in Europe co-morbid burden and advancing age predicted for adverse disease course in cancer patients. The ongoing OnCovid study will allow us to compare risks and outcomes in cancer patients between the initial and later stages of the COVID-19 pandemic.</text>

                <text>The COVID-19 pandemic forced many universities to close doors and keep students completely online—a phenomenon that raised unprecedented challenges with lessons learned that should be integrated into future educational knowledge management strategies and practices. Special attention should be given to students’ learning habits. This paper presents the results of a semi-systematic literature review on the research problem and a survey of a sample of business students regarding their learning habits and preferences. Learnings of the research can be useful for the transition to an entirely online distance education, integrated in the framework of knowledge management strategies regarding e-learning in universities. The primary quantitative research was conducted before the start of the lockdown, and the results give useful insights that can be translated into mandatory elements for any strategy designed to assure a smooth and effective passage from in-class education to online teaching and learning. Students’ pre-epidemic learning habits, their use of communication tools and their preferences for solutions usable in distance education, with a special focus on gender and education level, have been investigated. Results are correlated in the paper with possible knowledge management strategies in universities as part of an approach with both academic and practical implications.</text>

                <text>In early December 2019 a cluster of cases of pneumonia of unknown cause was identified in Wuhan, a city of 11 million persons in the People&amp;#8217;s Republic of China. Further investigation revealed these cases to result from infection with a newly identified coronavirus, initially termed 2019-nCoV and subsequently SARS-CoV-2. The infection moved rapidly through China, spread to Thailand and Japan, extended into adjacent countries through infected persons travelling by air, eventually reaching multiple countries and continents. Similar to such other coronaviruses as those causing the Middle East respiratory syndrome (MERS) and severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS), the new coronavirus was reported to spread via natural aerosols from human-to-human. In the early stages of this epidemic the case fatality rate is estimated to be approximately 2%, with the majority of deaths occurring in special populations. Unfortunately, there is limited experience with coronavirus infections during pregnancy, and it now appears certain that pregnant women have become infected during the present 2019-nCoV epidemic. In order to assess the potential of the Wuhan 2019-nCoV to cause maternal, fetal and neonatal morbidity and other poor obstetrical outcomes, this communication reviews the published data addressing the epidemiological and clinical effects of SARS, MERS, and other coronavirus infections on pregnant women and their infants. Recommendations are also made for the consideration of pregnant women in the design, clinical trials, and implementation of future 2019-nCoV vaccines.</text>

                <text>A door-to-door survey was organised in Cuenca, Ecuador, to determine the prevalence of COVID-19 infection and adherence of the population to COVID-19 preventive measures. A total of 2457 persons participated in the study; 584 (23.7%) reported having experienced at least one flu-like symptom since the onset of the pandemic. The maximum SARS-CoV-2 seroprevalence in Cuenca was 13.2% (CI: 12–14.6%) (IgM or IgG positive). Considering PCR confirmed infections, the prevalence was 11% (CI: 10–12.4%). There was no significant difference in seroprevalence between rural and urban areas. Participants aged 35–49 years old, living with a COVID-19 positive person, at least six people in a household, physical contact with someone outside the household, a contact with a person outside the home with flu-like symptoms, using public transport, and not having enough resources for living, significantly increased the odds for SARS-CoV-2 seropositivity. Overall, there was good adherence to COVID-19 preventive measures. Having known someone who tested positive for COVID-19, having a primary or secondary level of education, and having enough resources for living, significantly increased the odds for higher adherence. In conclusion, despite good overall adherence of the population of Cuenca with COVID-19 preventive measures, our study suggests high ongoing COVID-19 transmission in Cuenca, particularly in certain parishes. Prevention should not only focus on behavioural change, but on intensified testing strategies in demographical risk groups.</text>

                <text>La construcción de pavimentos rígidos y flexibles genera desarrollo social e impacto económico/ambiental en su concepción, desarrollo y operación posterior. Su construcción requiere de materiales a bajo costo, alta disponibilidad y total  aprovechamiento, así como de propiedades que garanticen el cumplimiento mínimo de durabilidad y costos racionales de mantenimiento. Conviene  obtener y usar materiales de considerada abundancia y que para su procesamiento requieran de una tecnología limpia y tradicional, a fin de que el impacto ambiental sea el más bajo posible. Los agregados reciclables corresponden a estos materiales, y dentro de ellos está el RAP, del inglés Reclaimed Asphalt Pavement (Pavimento Asfáltico Recuperado) [1], cuyo término es dado a los materiales extraídos o procesados que contienen una presencia contraída de betún asfáltico y que, ahondado en la fatiga estructural de un pavimento flexible, por efectos de envejecimiento,  se obtiene por medio de una de las técnicas más conocidas de recuperación: El fresado. Gran parte de los países del mundo ha utilizado el RAP en la re-manufactura de mezclas asfálticas. Con ello se disminuye su retiro a sitios de disposición final y se minimiza el consumo de agregados pétreos vírgenes, lo que produce beneficios ambientales a corto plazo, así como otros que sobresalen por el aprovechamiento de su calidad de mezclado y condición estructural residual. Todo ello ha generado una nueva alternativa de estudio en la manufactura de mezclas hidráulicas para la construcción de pavimentos rígidos.</text>

                <text>Los agroecosistemas muestran una gran heterogeneidad en cuanto a las prácticas y características, debido a que dependen de las lógicas de la agricultura familiar, convirtiéndose en un recurso potencialmente valioso, cuando se estudia el uso y el soporte del medio productivo. Es por ello, que esta investigación evaluó el sistema de arveja (Pisum sativum L.) en el municipio de Ipiales, a través de una metodología multidimensional, usando 26 indicadores, agrupados en cuatro dimensiones de sustentabilidad agroecológica. La estimación, se realizó sobre 30 fincas, que representaron tres tipos de campesinos, previamente descritos, como C1, C2 y C3; los resultados permitieron identificar los Puntos Críticos de Sustentabilidad (PCS) y el Índice General de Sustentabilidad (IGS) del sistema, estableciendo que las diferentes situaciones sociales, ambientales, económicas y técnico-productivas determinan la existencia de PCS específicos. El IGS tuvo una calificación de 2,65, para C1; 2,90, para C2 y 2,62, para C3, evidenciando medidas de monitoreo y de manejo, que se deberían discutir en la región, para disminuir las externalidades generadas por el modelo productivo.</text>

Otros están expandiendo el tiempo, para perseguir una Big History, una Deep History y la historia del Antropoceno. ¿Cuál es la explicación para esta expansión de los horizontes? ¿Y que significa para el futuro de la Historia? Este artículo presenta un alegato para la consideración de la historia como una disciplina de las transformaciones sociales y políticas en medio de las crisis de gobernanza global, creciente desigualdad y cambio climático antropogénico.Big is back across a wide range of historical fields. Many historians are stretching space, to create international, transnational and global histories. Others are expanding time, to pursue Big History, Deep History and the history of the Anthropocene. What explains this broadening of horizons? And what does it mean for the future of history? This article makes a case for history as a discipline of social and political transformation amid crises of global governance, rising inequality, and anthropogenic climate change.</text>
