We investigated 78 persons who had laboratory-confirmed MERS during March 2–May 10 and documented contact at this hospital. The 78 persons with MERS comprised 53 patients, 16 healthcare workers, and 9 visitors. Among the 53 patients, the most probable sites of acquisition were the emergency department (22 patients), inpatient areas (17), dialysis unit (11), and outpatient areas (3). Infection control deficiencies included limited separation of suspected MERS patients, patient crowding, and inconsistent use of infection control precautions; aggressive improvements in these deficiencies preceded a decline in cases. MERS coronavirus transmission probably was multifocal, occurring in multiple hospital settings. Continued vigilance and strict application of infection control precautions are necessary to prevent future MERS outbreaks. During the pandemic, people are being compelled to experience new ways of interacting, working, learning, shopping, traveling, and eating meals. Going forward, a critical question is whether these experiences will result in changed behaviors and preferences in the long term. This paper presents initial findings on the likelihood of long-term changes in telework, daily travel, restaurant patronage, and air travel based on survey data collected from adults in the United States in Spring 2020. These data suggest that a sizable fraction of the increase in telework and decreases in both business air travel and restaurant patronage are likely here to stay. As for daily travel modes, public transit may not fully recover its pre-pandemic ridership levels, but many of our respondents are planning to bike and walk more than they used to. These data reflect the responses of a sample that is higher income and more highly educated than the US population. The response of these particular groups to the COVID-19 pandemic is perhaps especially important to understand, however, because their consumption patterns give them a large influence on many sectors of the economy. Diante disso, este trabalho teve por objetivo estudar a viabilidade econômica e financeira da implantação do sistema de hidroponia para produção de alface no regime de agricultura familiar em uma propriedade rural no município de Matão, SP. A hidroponia exige um alto investimento inicial, mas exibe vantagens para o cultivo de folhosas em relação ao cultivo tradicional na terra. O estudo foi feito de acordo com o conceito brasileiro de agricultura familiar e para conseguir recursos financeiros, buscou-se avaliar a possibilidade do uso dos recursos de financiamento do programa PRONAF Mais Alimentos, na quantia de oitenta mil reais. Esta linha de crédito disponibiliza recursos para investimentos em máquinas e equipamentos com juros baixos, carência de 03 anos e 10 anos para pagamento. Para realizar o estudo de análise econômica, utilizou-se análise de Valor Presente Líquido - VPL, Taxa Interna de Retorno- TIR e Payback descontado. Com a metodologia aplicada, utilizando uma taxa de atratividade - TMA de 7%, foi possível encontrar um VPL de projeto de R$ 101.862,76. A TIR apresentou um patamar de 30,1% a.a. O retorno do investimento foi encontrado em apenas 4 anos, apresentando alta viabilidade de instalação do projeto. = The United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization - FAO, states that family farming through its great economic and social importance, receives in Brazil and in the world public policy support and incentives. Thus, this study aimed to study the economic and financial viability of a hydroponic lettuce production in family farming system on a farm in Matão, SP. Hydroponics requires a high initial investment, but shows advantages for the leafy vegetables cultivation compared to traditional cultivation on earth. Esse fato traz um conjunto de características típicas desse grupo social que ao mesmo tempo os diferencia e os aproxima. O presente artigo tem como objetivo apresentar e analisar algumas dessas características focando em agricultores do território Centro-Sul do Rio Grande do Sul - RS. O método utilizado foi a construção e análise de um banco de dados baseado em entrevistas primárias realizadas pela equipe de profissionais da extensão rural. Como resultado, foi possível constatar que esses agricultores, em sua maioria, possuem uma educação formal no nível fundamental, sendo que o ensino superior e técnico não se configura como uma realidade atual. Eles estão envolvidos com o cultivo do tabaco entre 20 a 30 anos, o que produz um alto grau de conhecimento sobre o tema e um grupo de estruturas dentro da propriedade. Bu derlemede COVID-19 seyri sırasında gelişebilecek böbrek tutulumu ve akut böbrek hasarı tartışılmıştır.
