En dicho artículo explicaba y ejemplificaba los motivos de dicha confusión, describía los conceptos básicos del método hipotético-deductivo (MHD) y finalizaba con algunos consejos para su buen uso. En este trabajo evalué nuevamente el empleo adecuado del MHD en los manuscritos publicados en Ecología Austral a posteriori de la aparición de aquel artículo, para determinar la influencia potencial de la revisión original a 18 años de ser publicada. Examiné un total de 691 manuscritos publicados entre 2015 y 2019; 241 de Ecología Austral, 152 de Oikos y 298 de Ecology. Comparados con los resultados del período analizado en el trabajo original (1997-2002), las publicaciones en Ecología Austral que emplearon el MHD se duplicaron, mientras que aquellas que empleaban correctamente los términos hipótesis y predicciones aumentaron 7 veces. Tal incremento no respondió a una tendencia general en las publicaciones ecológicas, ya que no lo detecté en las revistas anglo-parlantes que analicé. Este aumento en las publicaciones de Ecología Austral que emplearon el MHD entre 2015-2019 y utilizaron de forma adecuada su terminología asociada sugiere una influencia positiva de la revisión original del 2003. En el presente trabajo discuto hipótesis alternativas que también podrían reflejar este patrón. Dado el número relativamente bajo de citas de Farji-Brener (2003), estos resultados cuestionan la precisión del número de citas como un estimador del impacto de ciertos manuscritos e ilustran la importancia de escribir artículos en español que colaboren con el desarrollo de las investigaciones en ecología, aunque normalmente sean subvalorados en las instancias formales de evaluación académicas. Por lo tanto, la seguridad alimentaria es indispensable para la sobrevivencia y la equidad. En este marco, se investigaron los conocimientos tradicionales que conservan los habitantes sobre las plantas y animales alimentarios de los huertos tradicionales de la comunidad de Coatetelco, Morelos. Para sistematizar los saberes tradicionales vinculados a las plantas y animales alimentarios se efectuaron 34 entrevistas semi-estructuradas y se calculó la riqueza de conocimiento al respecto y la frecuencia relativa, se realizaron recorridos guiados para la colecta de las plantas y la observación de la fauna para su identificación mediante las claves correspondientes. Se registraron 60 especies de plantas y animales distribuidos en 38 familias, sobresaliendo la Fabaceae y Bovidae. Las seis especies con mayor importancia alimentaria fueron el limón Citrus aurantiifolia, papaya Carica papaya, guamúchil Pithecellobium dulce, gallina Gallus gallus, guajolote Meleagris gallopavo y la tórtola Columbina inca. El fruto se consume en una mayor proporción (69%), seguido de la carne (18%). Los huertos estudiados de Coatetelco proveen sosteniblemente alimentos y nutrimentos a las familias indígenas a lo largo del año. Por lo tanto, su conservación y manejo debe integrarse a las políticas públicas que garanticen el derecho a la alimentación nutritiva, suficiente y de calidad, y coadyuvar en este sentido a mitigar la pobreza alimentaria. Se utilizó el marco conceptual de nicho ecológico y se evaluaron doce variables: una topográfica, cinco paisajísticas y seis climáticas. Se realizó un análisis factorial de nicho ecológico con el software Biomapper, que básicamente es un análisis estadístico de reducción de dimensiones. Para cada especie, se obtuvieron mapas de hábitat potencial al modificar seis variables climáticas por cada modelo de cambio climático aplicado, generando igual número de mapas para condiciones futuras. Se analizaron las diferencias en hábitat potencial para las condiciones actuales y aquéllas previstas por cambio climático, encontrando que es posible que la superficie óptima de crecimiento para seis especies se reduzca. Las especies identificadas como amenazadas por el cambio climático son L. macrophylla, A. arguta, C. caroliniana, C. mexicana, P. patula, y N. sanguínea. Estas especies componen principalmente el estrato arbóreo alto del bosque mesófilo, por lo que se concluye que el ecosistema puede verse seriamente afectado como consecuencia del cambio climático. Las agendas nacionales y locales deben considerar los escenarios del cambio climático y su impacto en evapotranspiración. El presente trabajo tuvo como objetivo analizar la distribución espacial de la ETP, el periodo de crecimiento en las condiciones climáticas actuales en todo el país y en escenarios de cambio climático, para contar con elementos técnicos suficientes que permitan recomendar acciones de adaptación para la producción agrícola nacional. La ETP mensual se estimó a partir de la ETP de referencia (ET0) por el método de Penman-Monteith. Con este parámetro y la precipitación (P) media mensual se evaluó la fecha de inicio, fin y duración del periodo de crecimiento. Se estudiaron 28 escenarios de cambio climático para definir la alteración de la ETP y su efecto en los PECRE de las zonas agrícolas del país. Se espera que la ETP aumente prácticamente en todo el territorio nacional como consecuencia del incremento generalizado de la temperatura y la disminución de la humedad relativa. Las clases de ETP menores de 1000 mm anuales disminuirán, mientras que las mayores a 1000 mm aumentarán en promedio 20% en el horizonte medio (2040-2069) y casi 50% hacia el horizonte lejano (2070-2099). Al considerar el cambio climático en el PECRE por estado, se observó que en tres de ellos (Baja California Sur, Coahuila y San Luís Potosí) no habría cambio respecto a las condiciones actuales. En el resto de los estados se reducirá el PECRE debido a una combinación de cambio en el inicio y el final del periodo de crecimiento. Los estudios cartográficos permiten realizar el análisis espacial de los resultados, mismos que deben integrarse en la planificación del uso agrícola del agua. Paralelamente hacen posible avanzar en el diseño de medidas de adaptación al cambio climático con un sólido fundamento técnico. However, given that adaptive measures are limited, it is possible that climate change will affect food availability and increase price volatility. This essay presents a synthesis of the evi- dence of the effects that climate change has on the agricultural sector, with a special emphasis on Latin America. This revision makes it clear that the effects are going to be heterogeneous and that they could very well be costly. Therefore, public pol- icies aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions while at the same time promoting adaptive measures to climate change, are essential. Abstract This essay reflects on the different conceptual perspectives of what we understand by Nature and how they shape our reality and our collective tasks. This reflection starts from the artistic field and then incorporates aspects of political ecology in the Human / Nature dialectic, emphasizing the common points and the intersections that we consider interesting. We take three examples in the history of recent art where we identify the conceptual problems around the configuration of the idea of ​​the natural. First, we will develop aspects of the intersection between art and science in encyclopedic projects and the impact of cartography as the image that embodies this intersection. The second example presents a renewed look towards the natural with the entropic landscape of Robert Smithson. The third example, the artwork of Stelarc, reconfigures the Natural before the technological impact of human development. These references serve to illustrate and develop the debate of contemporary ideas about the cultural construction of Nature through art and how this debate takes shape and is disseminated through political channels that share or resist the programs of power for the permanent configuration of the representations of the world. Quintanar Description An account of the resource The Quasi-Biennal Oscillation (QBO) and the El Niño-Southern Oscillation (ENSO) largely modulate the zonal wind in the tropics. Previous studies showed that QBO phases produce changes in deep convection through an increase/decrease in the tropopause height over the tropics and subtropics. This study investigates the combined effects of QBO and ENSO on tropical cyclone activity by modulating tropopause height. We found that tropopause height increases over the Gulf of Mexico, the Caribbean region, and the Western North Atlantic Ocean during La Niña + QBOW, allowing deeper tropical convection to develop over those regions. As a consequence, TC activity over those regions is not only increased in number but also enhanced in intensity. Conversely, during El Niño + QBOE, most deep tropical convection is inhibited over those same regions due to the decrease in tropopause height over the subtropics. We conclude that QBO effects on TCs and deep convection should be studied in combination with ENSO. Additional comparative studies using long record data at high vertical resolution are needed to fully understand to what extent QBO interacts with ENSO in the lower tropical stratosphere and upper tropical troposphere.
