                <text>While it is not new that Nigeria is challenged by a huge infrastructure deficit, the COVID-19 pandemic has exposed the country’s comatose healthcare system. Given the country’s dwindling revenue, massive debt profile and the inability of the public-sector to efficiently manage public facilities in the country, this paper examines how the public-private partnership model of infrastructure procurement can be deployed as a solution for Nigeria’s healthcare crisis. In addition to the above, this paper takes a look at how a partnership with the private sector can aid Nigeria’s quest towards achieving healthcare-related Sustainable Development Goals. The paper also considers two healthcare-based projects as case studies to serve as lessons for future projects in the country. Among others, the paper recommends a holistic long-term solution for the country’s healthcare needs.</text>

Como regla general, se ha obtenido una buena correspondencia entre las variaciones observadas y las deducidas de la consideración de procesos tales como cambio catiónico, solución- precipitación de carbonato cálcico, hidrólisis de silicatos, desintegración radioactiva que se producen a lo largo del recorrido del agua subterránea. Algunas variaciones observadas en el contenido 18O y 2H pueden ser atribuidas a cambios climáticos durante el Cuaternario.</text>

                <text>Sunflower seeds for the human food market are derived from both oilseed-type cultivars, with black achenes and low hull proportion, and confectionery-type cultivars, with striped achenes and high hull proportion. The objective of this research was to evaluate tocopherol and phytosterol contents in the seeds of both types of cultivars. Five oilseed-type and seven confectionery-type cultivars were evaluated in replicated field trials in two locations of Morocco and Spain. Large variations were found in hundred-kernel weight (2.6 to 5.5 g), kernel oil content (42.7 to 67.5%), tocopherol content (203 to 397 mg kg–1 kernel), and phytosterol content (2179 to 3555 mg kg–1 kernel). Both types of cultivars did not differ for kernel weight, kernel oil content, or tocopherol and phytosterol profiles. However, oilseed-type cultivars had significantly greater average tocopherol and phytosterol contents, though confectionery-type cultivars with levels of tocopherols and phytosterols similar to the best oilseed-type cultivars were identified. The large variations in kernel tocopherol and phytosterol contents found in this research suggest that there is room for breeding for increased levels of these compounds in order to develop healthier sunflower cultivars for the human food market.</text>

                <text>Abstract Background Whether viral coinfections cause more severe disease than Bordetella pertussis (B. pertussis) alone remains unclear. We compared clinical disease severity and sought clinical and demographic differences between infants with B. pertussis infection alone and those with respiratory viral coinfections. We also analyzed how respiratory infections were distributed during the 2 years study. Methods We enrolled 53 infants with pertussis younger than 180 days (median age 58 days, range 17–109 days, 64.1% boys), hospitalized in the Pediatric Departments at “Sapienza” University Rome and Bambino Gesù Children’s Hospital from August 2012 to November 2014. We tested in naso-pharyngeal washings B. pertussis and 14 respiratory viruses with real-time reverse-transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction. Clinical data were obtained from hospital records and demographic characteristics collected using a structured questionnaire. Results 28/53 infants had B. pertussis alone and 25 viral coinfection: 10 human rhinovirus (9 alone and 1 in coinfection with parainfluenza virus), 3 human coronavirus, 2 respiratory syncytial virus. No differences were observed in clinical disease severity between infants with B. pertussis infection alone and those with coinfections. Infants with B. pertussis alone were younger than infants with coinfections, and less often breastfeed at admission. Conclusions In this descriptive study, no associations between clinical severity and pertussis with or without co-infections were found. Puede estar originada por una cirrosis previa o por causas más inmediatas de insuficiencia- fallo hepático como la sepsis, drogas, transplante hepático o alguna de las múltiples etiologías de la hepatitis.The liver plays an essential role in the metabolism of most of the nutrients since it is a mainly metabolic organ carrying out a series of physiological and metabolic processes related with protein and energy metabolism. The intestinal tract is considered a key element in the development of Multiorgan Dysfunction (MOD) or failure by loosing its barrier function (impaired permeability) against toxins, bio-products and occsaionally intraluminal bacteria secondary to hypoxia, one of the main pathopysiogenic mechanisms being the insufficient blood flow to splacnic organs. Liver dysfunction and/or impairment of liver function test are a common event in critically ill patients. They may be due to previous liver cirrhosis or to more immedite causes of liver failure such as sepsis, drugs, liver transplant or any of the multiple etiologies for hepatitis.</text>

                <text>Abstract The world is currently dominated by the Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. Besides the obvious concerns about limitation of virus spread and providing the best possible care to infected patients, a concomitant concern has now arisen in view of a putative link between the use of certain drugs, such as Renin-Angiotensin System (RAS) inhibitors and ibuprofen, and an increased risk for COVID-19 infection. We here discuss this concern in relation to headache treatment and conclude that, based on current evidence, there is no reason to abandon treatment of headache patients with RAS inhibitors or ibuprofen.</text>

La disminución de la población joven y activa económicamente, así como la transformación del modelo productivo, conllevaron un cambio en la estrategia tradicional de aprovechamiento y ocupaciones del suelo, que ha dejado su impronta en el paisaje. No obstante, las particularidades locales biofísicas e históricas condicionan la aparición de matizaciones al modelo de transformación general del paisaje, basado fundamentalmente en la disminución de la presión humana sobre el territorio. El contraste entre dos municipios en el ámbito del Prepirineo oscense (Alquézar y Valle de Lierp) ilustra estas variaciones, contextualizadas por el análisis de la composición del paisaje del Prepirineo oscense. Se realiza, por lo tanto, un estudio retrospectivo y multiescala centrado en la unidad operacional que constituye el municipio, donde se evalúa la composición, configuración y estructura del paisaje a través del análisis de sus componentes, de modelos de transición y de la aplicación de índices de paisaje. El desarrollo metodológico de este trabajo se ha simplificado gracias al empleo de SIG (ARC GIS.9) y FRAGSTAT, un programa de índices de ecología del paisaje.</text>

                <text>The article describes the experience of using the GPR method to study the bottom sediments of Lake Upoloksha located in the Kola Peninsula, Russia. Such sediments are viewed as good archives of various Holocene geodynamic processes, including tectonic and paleoseismic events. This small lake is located in the zone of the active NW-striking lineament, which length is more than 20 km. A series of åsars (eskers) stretches along the lineament. In the previous studies, the bottom sediments of the lake were investigated by geological methods, including core sampling, lithological and micro-palaeontological analysis of sediments. The studies have revealed a horizon which features are indicative of catastrophic changes in the sedimentation conditions due to a single impact. Our study aimed at evaluating the level of informativeness of the GPR method for detecting disturbances in the bottom sediments and new paleoseismic dislocations. The study referred to the hypothesis of the distribution of seismic foci in the Kola Peninsula in the Holocene. A ground-penetrating radar OKO-2 and an antenna unit (150 MHz) were used to survey of Lake Upoloksha in detail. The positions of the main stratigraphic horizons of the bottom sediments were clarified, and their thicknesses were measured more precisely. The GPR measurement error in comparison to the drilling data did not exceed ±0.2 m, which corresponds to the resolution of the antenna used in the survey. The GPR data confirmed the existence of seismic dislocations identified by the geological methods and discovered new zones of displacement and deformation in the organogenic and mineral bottom sediments. The survey detected vertical displacements, which amplitudes vary from 1.3 to 1.7 m, and landslides caused by seismogravitational rock collapse. Based on the GPR data, a bathymetric map was constructed. It shows the positions of the two basins of Lake Upoloksha. The survey provided the basis for a model showing the isosurface of the top of the mineragenous sequence. In the central part of the mineral-base model, there is a series of individual stepwise blocks of the sublatitudinal strike, which result from seismic movements. The GPR survey of Lake Upoloksha demonstrates that the GPR method can be successfully applied to estimate the mineral and organogenic parts of the bottom sediments, study their lithostratigraphic features, and detect changes in the structure of the bottom sediments. Based on the GPR data, it becomes possible to map even the small-scale disturbances.</text>
