Methodologically as a way to respond to the objectives a descriptive research was carried out.  Data collection took place in two moments first data from the National Fund for Education Development were used in the reports 'Acquisitions of Family Farming' and 'Financial Funds'. Subsequently, an interview was held with the person responsible for articulating the National School Food Program in the municipality.  It was observed that the municipality of Dom Pedrito/RS presented indexes lower than the minimum value of 30% of the transfer of National Fund for Education Development funds to the state of Rio Grande do Sul for the acquisition of foodstuffs from family agriculture in the years 2012 and 2016 according to  stipulated by Law No. 11947, from 2009, due to limiting factors such as the lack of documentation by the farmers and the decentralization of the delivery points of the products. It is understood that only the use of Public Calls to ensure compliance with the minimum value of 30% required by the legislation has not proved sufficient and greater efforts are required from all those involved in the program.
