A metodologia utilizada foi baseada no método qualitativo de modo que o estudo buscou as informações por meio de pesquisa documental, bibliográfica e entrevistas estruturadas e direcionadas. O processo desenvolvido teve o aporte teórico no planejamento territorial como espaço de construção de políticas públicas. A análise dos dados permitiu evidenciar a importância do método adotado no planejamento territorial colaborando para materializar a política do Programa Territórios Produtivos. O seu processo participativo possibilitou o envolvimento de diversas organizações atuantes no território, permitindo um planejamento territorial mais próximo da realidade da agricultura familiar. Além do que o método serviu como referencial para a elaboração de novos PTRPs.
