Se han desarrollado sistemas de producción alternativos, caracterizados por la ausencia de agroquímicos y la utilización frecuente de fuentes de materia orgánica que mantienen la fertilidad de la tierra como el humus, compost, abonos verdes, abonos líquidos y biofertilizantes. Con estos abonos se pueden conseguir mejores resultados al no generar contaminación en los suelos, mejorar las propiedades físicas, químicas y biológicas del sustrato, la estabilidad estructural, regula el balance hídrico del suelo al retener los nutrientes y nivelar los niveles de pH. Se ofrecen en esta investigación elementos técnicos que pueden ser utilizados por los agrónomos, y sin dudas se convertirían en herramientas útiles para su trabajo.
