Com o passar dos anos, a pequena propriedade familiar ganha força e vem exercendo influência na dinâmica econômica do município. Caçapava do Sul possui culturalmente fortes traços culturais característicos, das quais valoriza e cultiva as atividades tradicionais da cultura do campo. Assim, torna-se importante entender como se configura este sistema, em particular em um ambiente em que as transformações da paisagem vêm acontecendo com a expansão das culturas de soja e silvicultura, em decorrência do poderoso sistema capitalista explorador e acumulador de capital. Embora a pecuária extensiva seja predominante no município, algumas propriedades desenvolvem a agricultura familiar como forma do agricultor se manter no campo retirando o sustento de sua família.
