Ello mediante un enfoque cuali-cuantitativo, estructurando unas herramientas confiables cuyos resultados nos permitieron conocer que los docentes identifican comúnmente la educación ambiental con la ecología, con el medio ambiente, y más allá, la confunden con los PRAES; además no aplican la estructura transversal en los currículos, sino que la toman como una asignatura o un tema más de la asignatura de ciencias naturales o biología. Esto nos indicó que los docentes poseen diversas concepciones, en muchos casos erradas, sobre la educación ambiental. Como resultado de esta investigación se destaca la necesidad de que los docentes reflexionen y si es posible transformen las concepciones y la aplicación de la educación ambiental.
