Com a formação da lagoa, o local se transformou num atrativo para o desenvolvimento da pesca esportiva. Para tanto, os arredores da lagoa foi estruturado para atender os turistas que passaram a procurar cada vez mais o lugar para pescar. As propriedades foram transformadas em pousadas.
