Walp.) con la técnica de goteo, bajo cubierta protectora. Se efectuó en el período de abril a junio en Ciudad de La Habana, Cuba, en el organoponico del Instituto de Investigación de Riego y Drenaje (IIRD). El sustrato estuvo formado por una mezcla de suelo Ferralítico Rojo y cachaza. Los tratamientos consistieron en reducir las necesidades hídricas en un 50%, 30% y 25% en diferentes fases del cultivo. Los resultados muestran que los mayores rendimientos (1,60 kg·m-2), se obtienen al establecer un déficit hídrico de un 50% de sus necesidades hídricas en la fase de inicio del crecimiento vegetativo a floración y un 25% de déficit en la fase de fructificación-cosecha. El uso del sistema de riego por goteo colocando un lateral por hilera de cultivo, permitió manejar el riego con gran exactitud debido a su alta eficiencia.
