Apunta, además, la manera como el tema ha sido tratado en la producción científica de la enfermería, nacional e internacional, subrayando que la cuestión se ha presentado cada vez con mayor frecuencia, en los Congresos Brasileños de Enfermería.This paper presents a synthesis of the main movements that has sustained the concept of environment, which finally has constituted the current stage of ecology that shows differentiated meaning nowadays, as it involves the sustainability of the planet. Moreover, it presents how the theme has been considered in the nursing scientific production, at international and national level, pointing out that concerns regarding environmental issues have been growing steadily within many Brazilian nursing conferences.
