El desarrollo sostenible: un gran potencial presente y futuro

Sustainable development defined as that allows ‘the satisfaction of present needs without compromising the satisfaction of the needs of future generations’, is considered as an imperative for contemporary civilisation. In this article, the author, after analysing the topic from the United Nations’ context, highlights the importance sustainable development has for countries like Colombia. Countries to which the adoption of adequate environmental public policies impacts nor only in achieving a healthier environment, but also in the generation of economic and social opportunities contributing to the general welfare of its population.
