El estudio se llevó a cabo en una institución de cuidado de niños ubicada en la Región Metropolitana de Belém (PA), Brasil, del que participaron 25 abuelos y 31 niños. Se utilizó el método de observación naturalista y el registro de las visitas se realizó de forma cursiva, privilegiando la descripción de las interacciones entre los abuelos y los nietos durante la visita. Los resultados mos - traron que la mayoría de los abuelos interactuaban cariñosos y juguetones con sus nietos, un aspecto que puede considerarse positivo, ya que aumenta la posibilidad de que el niño se reinserte en el seno de su familia de origen con seguridad. Se sugiere, además, llevar a cabo nuevos estudios que tengan en cuenta la importancia de los abuelos en el proceso de reintegración familiar del niño.
