Si bien su estrategia básica fue la autosuficiencia familiar a través de pequeñas explotaciones agrícolas, desde principios del siglo XX implementaron la industrialización de la materia prima o de productos primarios que tenían disponibles en su propia chacra. En esta investigación se presentan estudios de caso que analizan el carácter diversificado de las estrategias de estos colonos y se describe el proceso de elaboración de las fábricas de ladrillo y almidón de mandioca.
