Finalmente se constata la presencia de 11 especies de este género en siete zonas geográficas de Cuba. El presente artículo incluye descripciones con las principales características morfométricas de las poblaciones cubanas, ilustraciones originales, distribución, ecología y en los casos requeridos comentarios taxonómicos. Palabras claves: Diatomeas, Bacillariophyceae, Pinnularia, especies dulciacuícolas, Cuba ABSTRACT After the revision and optical microscopy study on samples collected from 472 Cuban freshwater bodies a synopsis of the species of the genus Pinnularia (Bacillariophyceae) is offered. At least 11 species from seven geographical zones of Cuba were confirmed into the genus. This paper includes descriptions with the main morphometric characteristics of the Cuban populations, original drawings and information about the geographical distribution and ecology of each taxon. Taxonomical comments were also added in some cases.
