El artículo que se presenta tiene el objetivo de valorar la incidencia de los factores y actores sociales en la configuración de la seguridad alimentaria familiar en las comunidades Chicharrones y Los Maceos, municipio Santiago de Cuba. En el estudio se emplearon la metodología cualitativa y cuantitativa, así como las técnicas de la entrevista, observación científica y el cuestionario. Los resultados obtenidos evidenciaron problemáticas en las comunidades estudiadas, por ejemplo: emergencia de familias disfuncionales, la vulnerabilidad social de las comunidades, insuficiente acceso a los alimentos, entre otros. De ahí la importancia de la atención por las políticas públicas en materia de alimentación.
