En el año 2000 a través del análisis de una carta imagen, en escala 1:50.000, por la teledetección fueron delimitadas y diferenciadas seis tipologías de paisajes. Se analizó 16 años más tarde, los posibles cambios ocurridos de las pertinentes superficies de las seis tipologías de paisaje. Para el año 2016, la superficie ocupada por el bosque húmedo chaqueño no inundable fue de 31.494 ha, bosque húmedo chaqueño inundable 27.986 ha, karanda´y 9.190 ha, vegetación arbustiva de áreas inundadas 6.058 ha, área ocupada por asentamientos humanos 4.210 ha y los cuerpos de agua 1.308 ha. De ese total, 44% del área se identificó como permanentemente inundada, 16% temporalmente inundada y el área no inundable correspondió a 40%. Se verificó que, en el transcurso de 16 años, la superficie ocupada por los asentamientos humanos tuvo un aumento de más de tres mil porcientos, mientras que las demás tipologías de paisaje definidas no sufrieron consistentes alteraciones.
