Influence of climatic variables on the yield of transient crops in the province in Los Ríos, Ecuador

e objective of this study was to determine the changes andeffects of climate variables on transient crop yields in the province of Los Ríos, Ecuador. Temperature and precipitation were analyzed based on historicalseries from 1981-2015, current series (2016-2019) and projections (2019-2050). ArcGis 10,3soware was used to measure the climatic variability of these parameters. Vulnerability analysisconsidered production under the effect of weather conditions. Results indicate that the averagemulti-year temperature variation is 25,86 °C and the precipitation is 2 202.83 mm, what favoredthe production of 5 225 kg ha -1 of maize, 3 076.8 kg ha -1 rice and 1 147 kg ha -1 of soybeans.According to climate projections for 2016-2050, an increase of 1.07 ° C in the temperaturevariable and decrease in precipitation (303 mm) which will generate a decrease in crop yields in29; 27 and 24 % for corn, rice and soy respectively.
