Se ha propuesto teóricamente que los lacertilios podrían migrar en un gradiente altitudinal; sin embargo, en estas propuestas no se ha considerado a la hipoxia (escasez de oxígeno) como un factor limitante de la migración. De acuerdo con lo anterior, en este artículo se discuten las posibles características morfofisiologicas que podrían permitir a los ectotermos migrar sobre un gradiente altitudinal aun con los efectos negativos de la hipoxia.
