Foram utilizadas as pesquisas bibliográfica e documental e dados secundários originados do Banco Central-BACEN, do extinto Ministério do Desenvolvimento Agrário - MDA e do Instituto Brasileiro de Geografia e Estatística-IBGE. Os dados foram analisados por meio da estatística descritiva e da análise comparativa. Os resultados revelam que o crescimento do volume de crédito no TLS continuou beneficiando a agricultura não familiar, mesmo nos governos progressistas. Já o VAB total e do setor primário do TLS cresceu, muito em função da concentração dos recursos de crédito por contratos firmados, principalmente para a agricultura não familiar.
