              <text>O ácaro-texano Eutetranychus banksi (McGregor), o ácaro-purpúreo Panonychus citri (McGregor) e o ácaro-mexicano Tetranychus mexicanus (McGregor) (todos Acari: Tetranychidae) são pragas dos citros que causam manchas cloróticas nas folhas, provocam queda de folhas e de frutas e secam as brotações das plantas. Para conhecer a flutuação populacional e aspectos da ecologia dessas pragas foi conduzido um estudo, no período de julho de 2003 a junho de 2006, em um pomar de laranjeiras ‘Valência’ situado em Chapecó, SC. Cada 15 dias, a infestação desses ácaros foi avaliada em 20 plantas, contando o número de espécimes existentes sobre três porções de suas localizações preferenciais, mediante o uso de lentes com aumento de dez vezes e 1cm2 de campo fixo. Os resultados mostram que a infestação dos ácaros tetraniquídeos diminui em períodos chuvosos e com maior incidência de ácaros predadores e aumenta com o incremento da temperatura.</text>
