Descripción

COVID-19 is one of the most severe crises of thelast decades, with unprecedented and unpredictablelosses. COVID-19 is mainly a disease with respiratorysymptoms, but cardiovascular and neurological complicationsare more and more reported and shouldnot be ignored. Some patients with COVID-19 experiencedelirium during hospitalization, with confusion, agitation and disorientation. The neurologicalcomplications are insufficiently known and they mayalter the prognosis of these patients. The researchersstruggle to understand why these neurological signsappear, who is at higher risk and how they should bemanaged. Two hypotheses have been advanced: thefirst one is related to the direct viral invasion andinfection of the brain and the second one to an overstimulationof the immune system. The appropriatetreatment of the neurological signs depends on thecorrect knowledge and understanding of the pathophysiologicalmechanisms.
