THE USE OF ICT BY FAMILY FARMING IN THE TERRITORY OF CITRUS: CAÍ VALLEY – RS

The present article aims to analyze the use and appropriation of ICT (Information and Communication Technology) by family farms in the Ca Valley RS. The research has a qualitative approach and was carried out based on the selection of the municipalities that presented the largest number of family farmers in the region, according to the 2006 Census of Agriculture: Montenegro, Bom Princpio, Brochier, Marat, So Sebastio do Ca, Salvador do Sul, Pareci Novo e Feliz. The present article presents preliminary results of 293 semi-structured interviews with farmers who have access to ICT, later tabulated with the help of the SPSS. There is a need for mastery and knowledge appropriation for the more intensive use of ICT, since access of the analyzed farmers is still superficial and does not contribute to the appropriation of the technology.
