Descripción
Action research is a methodology that has been little used within Veterinary Medicine. It emerged in the second half of the 20th century and it values the researchers’ approximation, participation and immersion in the fieldwork, aiming at reality transformations and, at the same time, a greater social impact of the research on the community. It begins with recognizing the problems and demands, followed by the construction of collective solutions, mediated by the researcher, in the environment of occurrence of the investigated subject, proposing measures adaptable to local conditions, seeking transformations and construction of meanings. It is composed of cycles of planning, actions, reflections and resignifications that repeat until the end of works. The data are obtained and analyzed within a qualitative approach, although it may be also combined with a quantitative one. It has proved to be an option for interactive, socially critical, strategic, technical, practical and collaborative initiatives in one health.
